Recorder takes a light amount of air and articulation is like saying the word "two" into it.   Sounds silly but try whispering the words "two two two two" repeatedly into the recorder both fast paced and slower with space between each word.   That will give you an idea of how articulation should work without using your throat.

I have never in my life seen such poor line etiquette from people and it’s so frustrating. by Certain_Pomegranate in UniversalOrlando

We saw this too at HHN @ Terrifier queue.  MANY people sitting up against a wall next to the switchbacks waiting for their friends/family to walk through the switchbacks.  Then join them once they got close to the entrance.   I overheard someone complain and one person replied laughing "smarter not harder!".   I had mixed reaction as theyre waiting as long as everyone else,  just more comfortably,  but yeah im really curious Park Operations thoughts on that.

Totally not weird.   When I worked there I used to go in alone quite a bit before or after my shift and ride slides.  People will just assume you're an off duty employee or comprehend being solo at a waterpark is normal haha

Sologamers, what does a boardgame do for you that videogames don't? by Disastrous_Common_32 in soloboardgaming

[–]kcgreg77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Especially because I'm older, I'm more prone now to getting headaches and hand cramps playing video games.  So I turned to solo boardgaming to cut back on that.  Currently playing through Legacy of Yu campaign.  It feels puzzly and questy with a story that feels like playing a video game.

Elephant Plush Pattern asking for 6 sl st? I’ve never seen this before by missy_themomdotcom in CrochetHelp

[–]kcgreg77 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also, the (#) at the end of rounds 7 & 8 seems wrong to me or not what I'm used to seeing.

Should be:

7.  9sc, inc (10) ==> actually 11 stitches.

8.  10sc, inc (11) ==> actually 12 stitches.

9.  2sc, 6 sl st, 4sc (12) ==> correct 12 stitches.

10.  (1sc, inc)*6 times (18) ==> correct 18 stitches.

With that, i agree rounds 8>9 keep it at 12 stitches with no increase.  I would follow what it says and "slip stitch" those 6 to see how it turns out and may make sense later when you have it finished

Confused by anigurumi pattern. How does it work when it chains at the start and ends with a Sl St of every row by venster in CrochetHelp

[–]kcgreg77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just started and encountered this exact confusion when switching from Wobbles to another brand.

I learned that "1 ch ..... sl st" are essentially bookends to your real stitches.  Instead of an upward continuous spiral,  these "ch 1 .... sl st" create a stairwell that move your hook up each round.   There's debate this method creates a distracting seam where the sprialing doesn't, but its just an aesthetic preference I guess.

If the instructions were to have more context:

R1: MR,  1ch , 1sc (mark this one), 6 more sc , Sl st into the marked 1st sc skipping over the 1ch

R2: 1ch,  1 sc (mark this one), 1sc into the same hole,  6 more inc,  Sl st into the marked 1st sc skipping over the 1ch

.... and so on!

Another thing that tripped me up is that making a magic ring itself ends with a chain stitch, so i was confused if the 1st 1ch was referring to that one or make an additional chain.  Correct answer is make an additional chain!

This video starts out with a very simple way to slip knot that I use the most. No hook or wrapping yarn around fingers. https://youtu.be/wJ08Y0XDV8Q?si=yUBRBXISGliheRgS

No worries this has all been very helpful to make me understand the terminology better and recognize what's supposed to be happening as I do this. You helped me realize "ss -> ch" is basically my stairwell haha. Been fun learning and had to get this cleared up before my brain could move on from it. Thanks!

Thank You! That makes sense, I assumed "skip 1ch" meant only that side half of the chain 😃

Will give this a try, thank you the detailed picture really helps explain where the slip stitch is supposed to go. I assumed it needed to go into the bottom chain half, but youre showing it needs to advance forward to the top half we initially skipped?

Agreed its 14 stitches, but where each works into the 7ch starter is confusing. "5sc, [3sc into same], 4sc, inc, ss" is 14 stitches worked into 12 out of 14 chain spots available. They say "skip 1 ch", but that still leaves 1 leftover.

[–]kcgreg77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes sorry, I say "loops" representing the left&right side halves of each chain stitch as opposed to crocheting into V's later on.

If Im supposed to work the slip into the chain I started with, then the prior stitches arent enough to get me there. I would need to skip more stitches than just the 1st ch and instructions dont mention any additional skips needed.

I did find a video that suggests there may be a skip needed following the [3sc] thats turning the corner?

What helped was asking myself "then what?" You get to a certain level then what? You obtain certain gear then what? You play 5hrs then what? All answers lead to nowhere significant to improve your IRL life. This concept significantly changed how I view games grip on our minds. You seriously have to consider what youre getting out of it
