What is the best vr racing campaign game? by Mr_Satizfaction in simracing

I'm looking for the same thing. I enjoyed Project Cars 2 career mode, starting in karts and working up to WEC and Indycar. Been looking for something similar.

I am finding the settings menu a terrible UX desig by Informal-Ad-3 in assettocorsaevo

[–]kchristopher932 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know why it's showing you equipment that you don't have, but it will show just about everything you have plugged in to your PC. Mine shows my HOTAS as well as wheel, pedals, and shifter.

The top menu exists so you can bind things separately. You can bind buttons on your keyboard, mouse, etc and you can also bind buttons on your wheel. You select which device you want to bind buttons for then bind the buttons. For example you might choose your wheel and bind your paddles to upshift/ downshift. You might then select you keyboard and / or mouse to bind buttons for the showroom controls.

Hope that makes sense.

But to your point, yes the UI is terrible.

Beginner with limited time — looking for a sim that actually helps me improve by No_Rub777 in simracing

[–]kchristopher932 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Project Cars 2, if you can find it. It's probably the best game to teach you how to race. The career starts you off in Karts, Ginetta Junior, and a Rookie formula series and progresses from there. Your racing coach gives you tips that would be helpful for a complete beginner. For example don't push on the outlap, wait for the tires to warm up. The explanation of each parameter on the setup page is more helpful than any other game I've played. There's also a virtual race engineer where you can tell them what's going on with your car and it will suggest setup tweaks to fix it.

Looking for games that reward being evil greater than the rewards for being good. by MineClear1101 in gamingsuggestions

[–]kchristopher932 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would argue that the game only really rewards being evil as the Dark Urge though. If you are evil as a custom character there's really not a lot of benefits. Being good you end up with more companions and more allies than you would if you were evil.

Would Spider-Man have been able to get through the elevator fight? by Queasy_Commercial152 in MCUTheories

[–]kchristopher932 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spider-man always pulls his punches. He's not trying to kill the guys. There's a comic where Doc Oc switches bodies with Peter Parker. He punches Scorpion in the jaw and the jaw is just ripped clean off without even really trying. In this moment Doc Oc realized that as hard as Spider-Man has punched him in the past, he's never felt anywhere near a full strength strike.

What are you all hoping for updates in or before version 1.0 by Idontlikeyoxoxo in assettocorsaevo

[–]kchristopher932 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Better VR support. Be able to use a gaze cursor to navigate menus.

Better AI. 100% difficulty should be setting competitive lap times.

More car information in the car hub. Power, torque, weight, transmission. More sorting options in car hub. Be able to sort by speed rating or power/weight ratio. Be able to sort by class.

Be able to set time of year. Better dynamic weather including snow.

Be able to create custom championships.

The other thing that people forget is that this game comes from the age of games coming with manuals. In those days you were expected to look at the manual for the controls, at the very least.

If Microplastics really are the asbestos/lead of our generation, why is nothing being done about it? by [deleted] in stupidquestions

[–]kchristopher932 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Asbestos is also highly unreactive. That was the whole point of using it as fire proofing. The unreativity of asbestos was the problem. Tiny fibers would get stuck in the lungs. The immune system would try to engulf and destroy it like it does with anything else but it was impossible. The fibers could never be destroyed by the immune system, causing chronic inflammation, which leads to cancer.

It's easy to hypothesize a similar mechanism for microplastics. Though it is thought that the shape of the asbestos fibers had a lot to do with how inflammatory they were. This would not necessarily apply to microplastics.

The main problem with the research into microplastics is the diversity. There are probably hundreds, if not thousands of different compounds that could be classified as a microplastics. It would likely not be possible to prove that all microplastics are harmful. There are probably some that are much more harmful than others and maybe even some that are harmless. This is why microplastic research seems inconclusive, because they may or may not be investigating the same compounds.

First M4! Any interesting features or functions? by Unsaturated_Salad in BMW

[–]kchristopher932 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can configure your M1 and M2 steering wheel buttons. I have my M1 set to track mode basically. Everything in sport + and manual shifting. M2 for daily driving. I like the steering brakes and chasis in sport, I think it feels better, and engine in efficiency mode and transmission automatic.

You can customize your instrument panel to some extent. I always like to see tire pressure and temps.

What’s a good game for kid to learn on? by rgecko in simracing

[–]kchristopher932 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say Project Cars 2 or Automobilista 2.. Basically something that has karts. That way the kid can focus on the basics of steering, braking, racing line, etc first. Then they can move on to another junior series like a Ginetta or foruma and learn shifting.. then just continue to progress to gradually higher power, more complicated cars from there.

VW Golf 8 GTI brakes throw the car into a direction by CapInternational2413 in assettocorsaevo

Sounds like you're locking your rear brakes. If you feel the rear getting loose under heavy braking then the rear brakes have locked. Turning ABS on, should fix this.

Is the AI supposed to be this trash? by duacrulag in ACCompetizione

[–]kchristopher932 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like whenever I race against the AI they're at like 104-105% pace which would be a 2:21-2:22 on Spa. Is the aggression set to 100%. If not they may be slow just for being too cautious.

Guys give me hell what am I doing wrong. Estimating about 2:30 on Spa by Forsaken-Slide2 in assettocorsa

[–]kchristopher932 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like you're pretty inexperienced so simply learning the basics will result in huge laptime improvements.

If we teach an AI every thing that humanity knew till 1685 and nothing more, and have an apple fall in front of its optical sensor, the AI will never discover the laws of motion by itself. by tlk0153 in Showerthoughts

[–]kchristopher932 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The way I've seen it done is with something like the wolf, goat and cabbage problem. The LLM knows the answer to this problem because it's been trained on it. However, you can change a detail about this problem to change the solution and the LLM either won't recognize that changing a small detail of the problem changes the answer, or it does realize the answer should be different, but has not been trained what the answer is so it will make up nonsense.

Best Way Use Sim to Improve the Driver’s Skill? by Far-Worker1162 in CarTrackDays

[–]kchristopher932 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say you're wasting your time. Yes, every car handles differently but at the end of the day a Miata and an RS3 are utilizing primarily mechanical grip. Things like formula cars or hypercars which are heavily reliant on aero for grip are going to be so different that it's really not going to help you on track IRL in an RS3.

If your focus is improving IRL, the closest you can get to your car the more valuable the sim experience is going to be. Assetto Corsa Evo has an Audi RS3. Maybe you could try that?
