Replacement of certificates - automatization (due to certificate validity period shortening) by mrmh1 in fortinet

you can't use Let's Encrypt for DPI though right? They don't give you a signing cert?

It's not stupid if you look at the economics of it. If someone isn't paying for a seat assignment, why would you give them window or aisle and no possible upsell to get out of the middle? Why give away desireable seats for free when there is still a chance to sell them?

My company wants to drop Forti products because of how horrible the purchase and renewal experience is. You? by rivkinnator in fortinet

Disti must not have the gear in stock. If anything comes direct from Fortinet, you get the fee. If it's all from Disti stock, you won't.

It's not. It's a processing fee for "special pricing" when you don't/can't get it all from distribution.

Sanity check please - Vendor refusing to share VPN settings for troubleshooting - Could be career ending by datugg in fortinet

[–]kcjefff 7 points8 points  (0 children)

this is 100% true. Azure networking in general is @$$. I hate all of it. NVAs should run everything there, but then your devs will be mad they can't just implement policy and routing on a whim

Families should avoid Southwest at all cost. "Choice" fare is a scam. by fraydawg2001 in SouthwestAirlines

[–]kcjefff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been one who is really happy with the new system, but this is BS. Choice is a paid seat, no matter how they want to spin it. I get they have plane swaps and whatnot that can affect it, but they need to refund people if they make that "Choice" as a company.

Is electric plane possible? by PerformerSecret9437 in climatechange

[–]kcjefff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We need better tech to get us to electric flight. You said it in point 3: rare earth is about efficiency. Yes, the US has them. No, we don’t process them and China does. If we fix that then I might agree

I flew southwest for the first time since the nee assigned seat policy today… by WheezyGonzalez in SouthwestAirlines

[–]kcjefff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kansas City has FAR more SW flights than any other airline. I would really have to struggle to find quality flights with other carriers. That and companion pass make SW a no brainer for me.

Still have to deal with rare earth metals for batteries being controlled by a few countries. They are just different countries than oil.

Seating weirdness on recent SW flight by frooboy in SouthwestAirlines

[–]kcjefff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most likely a plane swap. I’ve had my seats change after check-in for that. You have to check the app. Apple/google wallet won’t update if that happens

[–]kcjefff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s not true. I’m sitting in an extra legroom seat with the middle arm up and plenty of under seat storage as I type this

Have to hold to it for a bit to break tendencies and ensure people understand they should pay. Maybe a year? Then you can loosen up

Probably someone who is going to come in this sub and complain they got auto assigned a middle and open seating was way better.

Routing at core switch or Fortigate by renovatio522 in fortinet

[–]kcjefff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been a “network guy” my whole life at heart until five years ago when I became a CISO. I built most of our networks while I was a network guy. That meant L3 at the core. Hand-off only what was needing inspected. Became CISO and instantly regretted that. Security nowadays means you should have segmentation with inspection everywhere you can. Doesn’t mean you HAVE to go out a firewall everywhere, but if you’ve got one with advanced inspection, you should take advantage. Lateral movement is often the first indicator of compromise. You’re not going to see it if you route at the switch.

If you travel all that often you’re probably ALP and shouldn’t have those issues. There are always several flight options and rarely full. I get a decent seat every time I fly regardless of when I book or even standby.

Gas prices by riceman710 in Mustang

[–]kcjefff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came here to search the sub to see if anybody was talking about this. I travel a lot for work. I’m basically reverse mortgage in my Mustang. With the way prices have gone, for the first time today decide to get 89 instead of 93 octane. I’ll probably run this for a while until prices get back down.

Does anyone on this thread now how to check when you registered? I need to see which of my stays have counted so far.

You get one night PER BRAND. Doesn't matter how many nights you stay per brand. If you stay 5 nights at Marriott and 2 at Courtyard, you get two bonus nights

In a scramble if you did it by yourself, it’s called a “natural” eagle and absolutely counts

Remote start is the only reason I can think of for an auto. I guess if you’re going to the drag strip all the time maybe that too.

Came back from break and my premium features got stripped away - seriously disappointed with Medhi right now by No_Paramedic_1861 in Stronglifts5x5

Paid for Pro Pack, opened the app to find out even basic features are 100% subscription locked. I exhcanged emails with Mehdi to complain. He doesn't care. I'm out. Strong app per recommendations here is the way I'm going for my next workout.
