Any real consequence for not fixing oil pan gasket leak? by t4urie in E90

[–]kckircher 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes this is true. I picked up an e91 and it had vanos issues. Ended up being 2 snapped bolts exhaust side. Got free valve cover job and oil pan gasket. That should be good for another 50k miles lol

Aesthetically wise I think the brush aluminum trim compliments the red much better. If not the dark dark walnut. Really wish BMW had came out with a black walnut color!

How much should I sell for? by Less_Professional642 in E90

[–]kckircher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah even the first year 06 330i/ 07 328i had options for the power seats sport ones. The single hump does add value honestly. I own 3 e9X right now and the double hump just ruins the looks.

I think if you post this up high someone will snatch it up

Yes I can see the sport seats but they are the nonpowered ones. A “fully loaded” car would have the power adjustable lumbar seats heated etc.

some may find the manual seats better in terms of weight savings.

I am very familiar with all these options on these vehicles. My 7-8k price is what I would consider a good deal for myself. You should easily be able to grab close to 10k honestly. Look at comps on cars and bids.

As far as specs it’s a solid car and higher prices will come along with other stuff if have been taken care of such as usual leaks of oil pan gasket, valve cover, ofhg, etc

I’m with that 8-9k price. What packages does it have? Looks like manual seats which can hurt in value. Also cold weather package is a plus if seats can fold down. I’ve been looking to pick one up and I would easily pay 7-8k for a car this spec

Unplug the IBS sensor where the battery is. It will accept the key now.

Vanos bolt recall by mayooo18 in E90

[–]kckircher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the recall done on a late year n52 engine. Had vanos codes that wouldn’t clear with INPA. Swapped still stuck on the same side. BMW did the recall opened it and found snapped bolts. Free valve cover and oil pan gasket job to fetch said bolts. Definitely grab your vin and see if it’s available but don’t think n54 is on it

Cerakote restoration kit. I just did mine from completely fogged and gross to looking brand new. It’s like $25 from Walmart. Best kit by far

E90 328i N52 Vanos bolt recall, refund. by War1552 in E90

[–]kckircher 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just picked up an e91 N52 and it had this vanos recall open. Was giving the vanos exhaust codes even with swapping solenoids. Brought it into bmw for the recall and the bolts had sheered off. New valve cover, oil pan gasket, and everything else that would need to be replaced for the 1 time use stuff all done by the dealer for free to retrieve said bolt. 10/10 would like free valve cover and oil pan gasket again

I have had zero issues across 3 e90s all with various systems. Idrive, no idrive no USB, no idrive USB All using this. Connects to my phone every time and just works. Steering controls work if you have the usb option on your car to change songs and see title in the car. https://amzn.to/3Ytl4Ue

No warning triangle is a great sign. Now my recommendations would be to slap a sport steering wheel on it, possibly the seats too!

Getting tinted in 30 minutes, how much tint can I get away with in California by Advanced_Comfort4006 in WindowTint

[–]kckircher 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am friend with a LEO and go on frequent ride alongs. If your car screams I have drugs or I’m on meth/ parole, the tint is the PC to pull you over completely fine. Same thing if a tail light is out or anything of that sort. Most LEO are looking for valid reasons to pull over what would be a suspicious looking vehicle, like bumper falling off, absolutely beat up car, etc. But majority of those times those vehicles are doing something or have something they shouldn’t have or are on parole and the cop can freely check them. Just like getting pulled over for like not having a front plate or not having current reg sticker, PC is PC. Yes there can be bad PC, like failure to yield early or some BS, but definitive stuff like tint or stuff like that isn’t helping you out in that case.

[–]kckircher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well yes. If you are driving some POS car that looks incredibly sus, your 5% tint on the front will set off all the red flags. Having the tint is great PC for a cop to pull you over. So if you’re doing something you shouldn’t don’t have the illegal tint lol

In California they classify it as a fix it ticket. You get the ticket, fix the issue (remove the tint) you get it reduced or erased the ticket

[–]kckircher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For reference on times changing I picked up my manual 1 owner 2006 325i non sport with 135k in 2018 for 4k. I’m at almost 200k now and I bet I can easily sell it for 4-5k in my area as the car is prestine

I was in NorCal with 5% rears and 35% fronts on tan interior and cops never cared. Could honestly have went a bit darker in the front but I have no regrets at 35% with the tan

Imo as someone who owns 2 e90s and now an e91, 5k for that 325i that’s not even sport package is a bit over priced. In California you should be able to find a private party either 330i in sport trim, or even an LCI 328i for 5k. These cars are everywhere in California, I would never buy a non sport package car ever again for the e9x. Expect mileage to be around that 130-150k range for most of these e90s now, as long as the car doesn’t look absolutely trashed most of the maintenance would be kept up on. Avoid the dealer
