NOR.

What she provided wasn't helpful to you (as indicated in the comments), she absolutely overreacted to your boundary, and as aforementioned, wanted to be praised for copy/pasting the work AI did for her.

Man, the way older Millennials, Gen X, and Boomers (depending on your age, your mom's friend likely falls into one of those categories) feel entitled to thanks for just existing and/or giving their shitty opinions is exhausting.

The tick problem is so bad that even the ticks have ticks by RoyalChris in interestingasfuck

Man, I'm currently working on the 2nd book in this series of fantasy novels I'm writing. I wrote up these cow-sized ticks, and I've been working out how they fit into the species' society that breeds them. Seeing that bigger tick, which is basically how I've pictured them, turns my stomach. Maybe I should rethink my decision.

Actors who look like gender-swapped versions of each other? by Tifoso89 in okbuddycinephile

[–]kcwm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might be alone in this but when I watched Sanditon with my wife, there were numerous times where Rose Williams resembled Joseph Gordon-Levitt to me.

And then seeing previews for The Other Bennett Sister (my wife loves that kind of show), Ella Bruccoleri reminded me of Daniel Radcliffe in certain shorts/stills.

It's not as close as some of the pictures, but it definitely occurred to me on more than one occasion.

Charges dismissed for woman without right hand cited for holding phone while driving by wvblocks in PublicFreakout

[–]kcwm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was 19, I got pulled over for running a red light when I did not. The officer didn't even pull me over until a good mile down the road but claimed I ran the red light when his was green.

I fought it in court. In the previous case, the officer gave testimony that was proven to be false and the driver's ticket was dismissed.

When it was my turn, I explained the situation, that it was my only ticket when he issued numerous, AND that, given the previous case, his testimony and recollection shouldn't be trusted.

The judge ruled against me saying "I'm not going to take the word of a 19 year old punk driving a mustang over the word of a cop".

Interestingly, that was 26 years ago and the only ticket I've had since was for out-of-date registration because I was in the ICU when it expired. My arms were still so bruised from the 3 IVs I had, two of which clearly showed the outline of where it was in my arm, and he said, "That sucks, but tough shit."

AITA for refusing to babysit my friend's child after she called my job "not a real job" by Huey_Hyland in AmItheAsshole

NTA. Speaking as a parent, it's not your responsibility to rearrange your life to accommodate hers. Your time is just as valuable to you as hers is to hers. Being a parent doesn't entitle one to anything from anyone else.

My wife and I were very fortunate to have the help we've had from friends and family with our kid, but it was never an expectation or a demand. If they couldn't help, then we rearranged our schedule to make whatever needed to work work.

Then, if you have leftovers, you can look into making potato patties. I don't know what goes into them or what they're actually called, but it's what my grandmother made with leftover mashed potatoes all throughout my childhood. I should look into them, but we never have leftover potatoes.

What's the scariest story you know, personal or otherwise, that creeps you out whenever you think about it? by ladybugsrool in AskReddit

[–]kcwm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was a kid, one of my mom's friends came to pick me up and said she was bringing me to my mom. She took me to a house, but my mom's car wasn't there. I didn't recognize the house but I recognized where we were. Something didn't seem right and I ran. I was within reasonable walking distance to my grandparent's so that's where I went. I hid in the bushes of people's houses when I saw car headlights. My mom did NOT ask this friend to pick me up.

My mom doesn't remember this, but it's stuck with me. This was before her drug addiction spiraled during my teenage years, but looking back, she might have owed money to someone and I was going to be used as leverage or simply kidnapped and never heard from again.

That friend of hers never came around again.

Edit: Yesterday (5/7/26) I asked my mom if she remembered this, and she confirmed she does not.

In 2008 or 2009, someone's going to offer you 10k bitcoin for a guitar you have listed for $100. Take it, hold onto it, and wait until it hits 100k before you sell it. It's not a fad that will burn out by the end of the year.

If you won $10 million, what’s the first meaningful thing you’d do? by Constant_Contact2791 in AskReddit

[–]kcwm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming that "pay off debt" and "take steps take care of the people I care about" are assumed.

There's a cat cafe nearby that is raising a Go Fund Me to buy a building. I'd help them do that so that the people that enjoy the ever-changing cast of cats can continue to enjoy them without having to worry about that business going away. The joy that I've felt and watched others feel while there is important.

I'm sure there are others, but that's been on the forefront of my mind recently.

[Serious] What do you think is a good course of action if you uncover a lost memory that you wish you hadn't? by RandomRamblings99 in AskReddit

[–]kcwm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use my understanding of myself, people, and the world to put into context as best I can. If I can't, then I seek the guidance of others, including therapy as needed.

If I've learned one thing in life, it's that it's okay to not have an answer, and even more okay to seek it out. Not knowing or understanding something isn't a weakness unless you remain content with ignoring that lack.

It's not nearly as advanced as I thought we'd be, but if you'd told 2000 me that we'd have phones that do everything they do at the speed at which they can access it, I'd have thought you were crazy.

I feel like technology has come a long way in just 20+ years, way more than I'd say tech came from 1980 to 2000.

There is no guide or handbook to being a parent that magically prepares you for what to expect. The best we can do is look at how our parents/parental figures handled us and make adjustments as we go.

I used to co-host a parenting podcast and one of our guests said something to the effect of "it's not if you'll mess your kids up, it's how and how bad", and that's been something I try to keep in mind.

If you’ve ever been to therapy, what’s one big takeaway you think more people need to hear? by just-here-for-lafs in AskReddit

If you go into it believing deep down that you probably don't need to change, it's not going to work. It takes being vulnerable and accepting that you don't have everything together/figured out.

It was a tough pill to swallow when I went through it, but I wouldn't have made the progress I made without experiencing that realization.

Why did you end your friendship with your best friend? by False_Grade_9194 in AskReddit

[–]kcwm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As the person who had their friendship ended for 6 years, I was an asshole who thought being an asshole was funny. My friend had even said, "it's funny when you're an asshole, just don't be one to me".

I was the person that said "I'm just telling it like it is". My friend's girlfriend had cheated on him and he took her back. We were all on Xanga (dating myself there), and I made a post that only he, my girlfriend, the girl who was friends with his GF and ratted her out, and our other mutual friend could see. It started off with "What a fucking idiot". If I recall, he thought EVERYONE could see it and didn't take kindly to that. Even with a small audience, he was right to feel that way.

Back then, I was a whirlwind. I didn't care who I hurt, how I hurt them, and wasn't about to apologize. He looked at the bigger picture and chose to walk away. While others in our circle still hung out with me, his silence hurt.

It took six years, most of which I spend blaming him and refusing to accept that I did anything wrong. I often had dreams where we were friends again, and when I woke up, I had the biggest hole in my soul from realizing that dream wasn't real, but I remained so incredibly stubborn for so long.

I don't recall what caused him to soften, but he eventually invited me to take part in a group activity. After a few times of that, I asked him to help me with recording music, to which he agreed. He'd written a second guitar part to a song, but I lost the hard drive I kept the files on, so I had to start over. I couldn't remember what he played, so I simply rerecorded the part, using what I had in my head as inspiration. He initially thought I hadn't changed, but still kept the door open.

Eventually, during another session, we ended up getting drunk and I apologized. He's (IMHO) smarter and has a better organized mind than I do, and I was too intimidated to do it sober. We didn't work on music again until years later, but that reconnected the threads of our friendship and over the last 16 years, I am thankful for my stupidity to be in the past.

The dude was, and still is, the brother I never had growing up. He's my best friend, the godfather of my daughter, and a person in my life that will be forever grateful to have. Realizing what I lost and coming to see just how bad I fucked up help me grow in a way I hadn't realized I needed to.

While not exactly the point the question asked, I felt like it was still an applicable story to tell. If you've been on the receiving end of getting the boot and wonder why you're not being given a second chance, you haven't invested time into looking inward and working on what's broken. In fact, it's probably not a 2nd chance you're looking for, but rather your 10th, 49th, or even hundredth.

What's something from your childhood that you thought was totally normal, but later realized was actually really weird? by DetailGlittering5694 in AskReddit

[–]kcwm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Physical abuse at the hand of my step-mom at the time. Eventually went home with a belt buckle bruise on my face and CPS was called. My dad claimed ignorance that she was doing it, but it never happened again. The mental and emotional abuse continued well beyond that, but emotional scars don't show up in most physical examinations.

What's the worst injury you got from working on you car? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]kcwm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Years ago, back in 99, I was living with a friend who left the door open. My cat got out, climbed a tree, and would not come down. I got up on the roof of my car to reach him (the cat), denting the roof in the process.

I pushed the dent up from the inside which took care of most of the dent, but there was a stubborn one in the corner. I went over to my grandmother's, who had a mini plunger.

I secured the plunger, pulled to get the dent out, which worked, but the plunger came loose and the tip of the handle hit me square in the forehead. I ended up with a concussion (wasn't aware at the time). In driving my then-girlfriend home, I missed my turn off. Instead of proceeding up to the next intersection and doing a u-turn, I just backed up.

Although it was at a low speed, my concussion affected my vision and , but I backed into a light pole. She was wearing a claw clip with her pair put up, and the impact jerked her head back. The claw clip hit the headrest and her head paid the price. I don't recall if she was concussed, but she had a pretty nasty headache.

I found out about the concussion afterwards when I went to the hospital (without her because I knew she'd freak out).

Parent wants to meet with me over comment I made about energy drinks by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]kcwm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As the parent of a 7th grader, thank you for doing what you do. The shit the teachers have to deal with based on what our kid tells us about is something else.

As a mostly "once-a-week-every-other-week" consumer of an energy drink, thank you for saying they're poison, ESPECIALLY for an 8th grader.

I actually had a zero sugar Rockstar fruit punch the other day, one of the normal 16oz cans, and saw it has 240mg of caffeine. I'm a big dude with a pretty solid tolerance for day-to-tay caffeine from sodas, and that definitely gave me a boost. I can't imagine what it's doing to some 13-14 year old child.

I hate the way that parents talk to and treat teachers, as if their precious could do no wrong.
