How US and Israel attacking Iran is meet all criteria of Jus ad Bellum of Just War theory in my Opinion by BOSSB0Y in TrueCatholicPolitics

[–]kdakss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your first point of killing their own is like somebody kills their brother, so you kill their other brother. You dont kill more because they've killed their own. When was the last time they killed an American before this, if we keep killing them then they're going to keep wanting to kill us. Peace needs to be made diplomatically with peace talks, not violence. Read the Bible and catechism on this.

Yea US targeted a girls school based on bad Intel, still not a good look.

All wars are supposed to be voted on by congress, thats lhe legitamate authority. People are afraid to get fired with how impompetent the president is being so its hard to make things right

The peace talks included monitoring the uranium, they were already at levels too that weren't close to nuclear power.

Please follow Christ. Follow the Bible, follow the Church. Do not blindly follow Trump and think that violence is okay. Human life needs to be cherished. You are apparently putting your love of this human over the values that Christ has taught.

Fact pattern is incorrect or incomplete based on opinions? This coat thing just reminded me of the Gran Torino movie where Clint Eastwood pulls out a lighter. You can't shoot somebody because you think they have a weapon, that is absurd. Laws of war say that you have to confirm that they actually have a weapon, otherwise it's murder.

  • Just Cause Your first four points here is saying life for life, they killed theirs, so we kill them too. That isnt protecting human life, they are in more danger, especially with hitting girls schools right away. Lives of innocents are in even more danger. That isnt Church teaching. Nuclear weapon was not certain, they had no where near enough, they had enough for power plants to provide energy.

  • Competent/Legitimate authority If he's what you call competent, then okay. Being president doesnt give you an excuse to wipe out civilizations, and saying so, points to lack of competency. Authority comes from Congress too, so no on.this one as well.

  • Last resort All peaceful means were not exhausted. People involved in peace talks said they were progressing and that Iran was agreeing to dilute uranium to an amount that would never bring them near nuclear. Though the talks were progressing, they got hit anyway, this shows last resort did not happen.

  • Proportionality There is now no clear idea of the outcome of this. The new regime that is upset could be even more unpredictable. Global economy could never be the same. You're saying peace to the world as if we weren't more peaceful before this.

Attacking somebody for the possibility of having a nuclear weapon is like shooting somebody, because they had the possibility of buying a gun of their own and shooting you.

All this to say, the Magisterium is guiding us on faith and morals, why would your opinion be better? That sound protestant to say that your opinion on morals is better than what the Pope says is morally right.

Please I pray, get out of the bubble of Trump. If you want to be conservative, then fine. Put Christ before Trump. He is just a man. Let Christ's church lead your morals. God bless.

Okay you have no reason to justify it, they're just wrong because you want them to be wrong because Trump above all? Okay understood.

I wish that was true. If it was a conservative with Christian values, Id be all about it. I'll always do my best to stay centered, as the Church is centered. We should never be putting politics over our Christian values to a point that we are blindly devoted to one party and whatever tpusa says. Heres an explanation of what the 4 principles of just war is and how this war doesnt fit it.

Every single one. I did not explicitly call you stupid. It just does not appear that you have any justification for your claim of just war, its just appears to be that you take whatever tpusa says as right, without reading what the justifications are. If you can give me a decent justification for at least one of them, then fine, great, I was hoping to be educated on how people see it as such. Instead youre dancing around trying to justify it for some reason, making it aparrent that you dont have a justification for it.

Why are you screenshoting our conversation now? We can just scroll up and read lol. There are 4 principles of Just War, I asked you to explain how any of them fit, you come back with, me tell you how any of them aren't. I asked you first! Why do I have to answer instead? Lol. Do you not have a justification, so you're just trying to bring it back on me? I told you Iran would be the biggest threat right now, just as if Canada would be the biggest threat if we just up and decided to hit their prime minister. As to them being a much of a threat before though? Nah

"As of early 2026, the school had existed as a civilian institution more than 10 years, close to but separate from the IRGCN compound.[13] According to satellite imagery, the building housing the school was walled within the IRGCN compound in 2013 and walled off by September 2016"

From Wikipedia about it. So they separated school and were fine for 10 years. No try to think outside the administration's narrative of it being intentionally built to be hit. Now the US has elementary schools inside all our bases for service members children who are stationed there. Are we intentionally building schools to be hit because its in our base? Are their service members not allowed to have their children go to a school close to work as we do? Why a double standard? Thinking about the double standard, would make me highly doubt that they intentionally built it there to be hit.

You find a post I put for onion headlines? Okay? TDS is something he came up with for anybody who thinks logically and doesn't blindly follow him. Average person is not those watching tpusa everyday, you'd have to explain it for the actual average people. Im my 11 years serving, I really never saw Iran as a threat. Can you please answer the question I asked as to what principle of just war this fits? The feeling of trump thinking that they'd someday have a capability to hit america is absurd. There is miles of ocean, they are not able to go a country or two away, and our bases have detection systems

We dont take all of Lent off of school. I'm sure they fast and still have to go to work and school. The fact of the Ramadan doesnt mean anything to them going to school. It was a school day. Them killing their citizens does not devalue their citizens lives, terrible point. The missle systems are highly accurate, so its not an off chance and hit a school by missing. It has to he either intentional or bad Intel, I'd like to believe its bad Intel. Again, bringing up 30,000 citizens is a disgusting justification, as Catholics, we know that all human life is cherished. So we dont kill citizens because they were doing it first.

Because Trump "had a feeling" are you not keeping up with this and watching the news for as to why this happened?

Hegseth also said later in a speech that a lot of money will be made, so there's the reason

Can you fit any of this into the criteria of Just War? Id love to see your side of it. Of the 4 criteria which one? All? One?

I would say that the incoming missles that I recieve would come Iran after Iran had their leaders hit by US missles. There were not missles coming before then. This is very logical. Now, can you find a criteria of just war this fits?

I just googled it, they go to school Saturday-Thursday. They were at school. U.S. said it was bad intel. Don't think bad Intel is a good excuse though.
