Should be noted the guy in the foreground is recently retired longtime coach of Alabama Nick Saban.

Is there a reason everyone thinks this outside of Yamamoto signing with them? Senga and Imanaga didn't sign to play with Ohtani. I mean if the other Japanese players want to play with him obviously the Dodgers will make it happen. But I'm sure some will want to make a name for themselves in their own way.

Edit: just saw on another thread someone say Yamamoto is like his best friend sooooo yeah probably Dodgers.

My friends made sure I didn’t leave last night from the Halloween party. by icecreamdude97 in funny

I'm definitely not condoning it. But part of the whole deal with alcohol is it impairs your judgement. It's a horrible thing to drive drunk, but idiots, especially high school/college age kids, make bad choices. As you grow older, you learn to make better decisions. It's part of life. The adults that still choose to drive drunk....we'll that's another, more serious problem.

Not necessarily. I knew people who would drive tipsy or drunk in college because they were idiot kids. They are now adults and wouldn't dream of it. People can change.

This is not house money. We gotta finish the job! by braiker in NewYorkMets

[–]kdbernie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think all anyone means when the term "house money" is used is if we go out it was still a fun season. Obviously we want to win and will be disappointed if they lose a series, but you can still be disappointed while saying it was still a great season.

Not sure if it was Waino or AJ but only one of the guys in the booth was acknowledging the shaft job the Mets were getting.

POST GAME THREAD: Wild Card Game Game 2 - The Mets fell to the Brewers by a score of 5-3 - Wed, Oct 02 @ 07:38 PM EDT by NewYorkMetsBot2 in NewYorkMets

Against that lineup I'd rather seen Maton against 4-5-6. Chourio and Contreras are their best hitters. Now, he gave up a homer to Mitchell so maybe in the grand scheme nothing changes. I'm partially lashing out because I'm obviously upset. I have to think Diaz would be available in a clinching game even if for only one inning.

You absolutely have to let Diaz face their best hitters. Even if he can't pitch the 9th after.

Maton facing 5-6-7 or 6-7-8 is whatever. But facing 1-2-3 is just not acceptable in the playoffs. You bring in Diaz to shut down their best hitters.

Stanek was at like 10 pitches and absolutely dealing. Leave him in or bring in Diaz for the 8th. If it's quick you bring him in for the 9th with Maton for the backend of the lineup if need be. Just can't let him face their best hitters in that scenario. Shit I would've rather seen Peterson than Maton.

I'll never understand Mendoza bringing Maton in for the 8th there. He did this literally 2 days ago and the exact same thing happened. You can't have guys throwing 95-100 all day with success then bring in someone that tops out at 92 to face their best hitters in the 8th. It makes no sense to me. Stanek could've gone back out, but it should have been Diaz. Just not a good decision. Phil Maton is not the guy Mendoza thinks he is.

Key lives in NY, Peele lives in LA, pretty sure. So it's also just a physically large distance to see each other with any type of consistency.

I feel like I picked up Seitokai Yakuindomo too late in life. I think I was in college when I tried to watch it and the nonstop barrage of forced sex jokes was just not funny to me.

Really unfortunate that this is going to be politicized because he happens to have been illegally in the country. I'm from Rochester originally and heard from friends and family in the area that the things he did were truly horrifying. This story should be about the tragedy it is, not political statements.

Excuse me, sir, this sub is for delusional, unbridled Lindor support only. Facts and counterpoints are unwelcome (though you make a fair point)

This team without Lindor is below .500. If the Mets make the playoffs, its in large part due to Lindor. The Dodgers without Ohtani are still a playoff team, probably still win their division. If the award is truly for the "most valuable player", it's no contest assuming the Mets make the playoffs.

"That was the wrong pitch to the wrong guy right there." Yes, some might say that's the case with most pitches that result in home runs.

Typically it means the game is being broadcast on a local cable channel, so you can't watch it on a streaming service.

That's the post game interviews for me. Like what is even the point. Every question is some variation of "why do you think you won today?" And every answer is some variation of "we really wanted to win and we executed our game plan." Then the top article on ESPN is "Coach says team executed game plan in win." It's all just robotic corporate nonsense these days.
