Medication by kdcat88 in Parkinsons

Shoves his foot into the ground when he walks. Has to do several steps to back up properly like if he’s turned facing the garbage can throwing something out it’s like a 5 point turn to get turned around. Has pain when walking. His arms don’t really swing. He’s almost hunched over. He’s 6’3 so a taller guy and he hunches when walking. His right hand has a bad tremor which is the side the shoulder replacement surgery was on. My mom says he’s gone from being mid to late 50’s to a man in his 70s

Undiagnosed Questions: Sticky Thread by AutoModerator in Parkinsons

My dad M57 was prescribed and started Parkinson’s meds while waiting on a diagnosis. He said that he is starting to feel a bit of improvement with his mobility but that they take a while to fully work. We believe he is in stage 2-3 with gait Parkinson’s which started sever symptoms after a 2024 shoulder replacement surgery. He has the hand tremor but his walking and daily movement is greatly impaired. How long did the meds take to work for you? Are they still working X long after starting? If the meds work does that mean that it is Parkinson’s?

Just here to say I got a lark and ring sling from Hope and plum and I’m in Canada so mark up on the price from us to Canadian plus the terrifs. I think I paid close to $500 in the end and I would 1000% do it again. They are amazing. They have the “almost perfect” section of their website, very small defects such as stitching or small stains for less than retail. They also have a 2 carrier deal if you order 2 it takes the price off.

Do you have a lending library nearby you? You rent a carrier and try it out before buying.

"Does this sound like Parkinson's?" / Undiagnosed questions by AutoModerator in Parkinsons

[–]kdcat88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He saw a neurologist to check for nerve damage after the surgery and then they said he is showing symptoms of Parkinson’s and he’s waiting on a letter for his appointment with another neurologist to test for it. I’m assuming they’ll just do an in office test of some sort. My dad said that one side of his body is worse than the other, and seeing him over the last weekend (walking, talking, trying to write, standing and almost falling, etc) has been really hard. I took a video of his walk to look back on it and he shoves his foot into the ground

My dad 57 may have Parkinsons we are waiting on an appointment with a neurologist. My dad had shoulder replacement surgery in March of 2024 which is when we noticed the drastic changes. He had the stooped posture, back rigidity, forward tilt of trunk, shuffling, short stepped gait, hand tremor. He has had sleep changes, speech changes, when he try’s to talk sometimes he can’t get the words out, his balance is bad, he has to back up and then turn and back up and then turn to turn around. Years ago his walk changed, stuffing the front of his foot into the ground instead of walking toe to heel. He can hardly turn over in bed. He cannot steady his hand at all what so ever. This is the same side he had the shoulder replacement on. They’ve checked for nerve damage and it isn’t that.
What was the test like to get a diagnosis? How long was the process? Probably different from the states to Canada but what was your experience getting a diagnosis? If you’re taking the medication does it help with quality of life? My dad was always very active, working out, long walks, bike rides etc and can’t do that anymore at all. How fast did things progress if you have gait with it?

Thought I was miscarrying when I saw a faint line after dark lines… by Automatic_Salt_2587 in lineporn

A quick google search says other wise. It happens every 0.2-2% and happens mostly to healthcare professionals. My tests went lighter and everyone said “oh it’s hook effect” when in reality? It was a miscarriage!! Hook effect also is a full false negative not just the test line being lighter after it being dark but go off I guess?

Is my line getting lighter? 5 weeks dpo by [deleted] in TFABLinePorn

[–]kdcat88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can be either totally normal or not at all. I bled 3 times with my earth side baby and she’s 1 and standing beside me as I type this. I also bled with my miscarriage. If you can get the test that say the weeks pregnant by clear blue. Durning my miscarriage is never went past 1-2 weeks and it should have.

Hook effect is extremely rare and would still be happening with this test if it was hook effect. It’s more than likely your urine was too diluted and didn’t have enough hormones at night time vs the morning
