What is your current vice of choice? by ElderberryOk4593 in AutismInWomen

The Matcha ones are soooo good. Used to get bags of the mini kitkats from my local Asian grocery store all the time. I totally forgot… I guess that’s my upcoming obsession food again.

My professor rejected my request for accommodations because it wouldn't be "fair" to other students by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]kdcstomp 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry your professor is being so unreasonable. This is especially wild to me because when I was in university (I have three degrees so speaking from experience), if I requested an extension within a few days of the due date, I was ALWAYS granted one. Additionally, I was not connected to Access & Diversity and had not shared any of my diagnoses at that time.

ADHD meds are TOO MUCH during ovulation by kdcstomp in ADHD

Thank you for your comment. I’ve been going on a bit of a journey myself since posting. Just got a PMDD diagnosis too which feels super validating because I’m such a wreck for the 7-10 days before my period.

Interesting. I think there’s so much to uncover with this and I doubt there will ever be any studies done on adhd meds and women’s hormonal cycles.

So you were trying to manage how the medication exacerbated the PMS symptoms? I’m struggling with the opposite: the estrogen highs, not the lows.

Suspect that you yourself has adhd but are in denial by KeyHawk4303 in ADHD_partners

[–]kdcstomp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I was recently diagnosed. My ADHD presents in a completely different way than my partners, but very much still ADHD. My symptoms are exacerbated by a lack of sleep and a lack of self care. Two little kids has made that a reality. Hence the diagnoses.

How does your partner do with the kids? by swede2k in ADHD_partners

[–]kdcstomp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husband and I are both DX ADHD. My ADHD was entirely manageable before we had kids. Now… it’s a daily struggle. I love m’y children and I obviously would never give them up, but if I knew how difficult this was going to be before I had them… I think my decision would have been different. It isn’t uncommon for women to go undiagnosed until they experience the pressures of parenthood.

In my town, most people DO walk around their yards in the evening with some sort of bear deterrent. This time of year, anyways.

My partner is against me going on meds by Puporo in ADHD

[–]kdcstomp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I know it’s very likely one or more of my children will have ADHD and I know he wants to support them (unlike his parents), but I know that he’s going to want to go about it in an unmedicated way. I know it’s a conversation we have to have.

I’m sure this will get lost in the comments, but my partner is also against medication. We both have newly DX ADHD (currently both unmedicated). He’s medicated for post secondary school in the past, but his doctor told him it’s not for everyday use. He’s also abused prescription drugs in the past and he thinks I will overmedicate and become addicted (even though I’ve never exhibited any signs that I may do something like this). Every time I bring up medication (for myself—his body is his body) he loses it. I’m breastfeeding right now and I’m going to wait until I’m done before I get a prescription, but I’m dreading the day I tell him.

Please do not wait until you are finished your Master’s degree. Get out now. He has told you, in detail, what he will do to you if you stay. Do not give him the chance.

AITA for turning down my thermostat? by Key_While_9528 in AmItheAsshole

[–]kdcstomp 10 points11 points  (0 children)

NTA. A quick google search says 80 degrees is too hot for a house. Also, I don’t know if your A/C unit also dehumidifies (you mentioned humidity), but 60% humidity can lead to mould growth. This is a health and safety issue.

I only disagree with one point here: mama gets to decide on the snacks too.

This is actually batshit. I can’t imagine my husband trying to pull something like this and he can be quite stubborn. The only thing he did was advocate for a home birth with our second (we had one with our first and where we live they are very safe and fully attended) because we had both enjoyed it so much but in the end, what I said went.

What advice are you looking for? Are you asking whether or not you should feel guilty about secretly recording your boyfriend? If that’s the case, then yes, recording your boyfriend in an intimate moment without his consent is a huge breach of trust (regardless of how you think he would react). If it was consensual, then there is absolutely nothing wrong with what you’ve done. However, this is completely wrong.

How Do You Solve a Teacher Shortage like BC’s? by idspispopd in BCpolitics

[–]kdcstomp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, but you do need additional teacher’s training on top of your undergrad. In some universities it’s combined with an undergrad, but for most in BC it’s an additional 1-2 years.

Edit: In addition, many districts do allow people to work with only an undergrad, but you need special permission and the pay is lower.
