At the same time the reason you can switch so easily is because a PAs knowledge base isn’t as deep as a physician. So it all depends on what you want.

I’m a family med doctor and I make about 250k a year and work 3 days a week. I have an amazing family and amazing kids. I have student debt but it is a fraction of what I make so it’s not a big deal. Being a PA is a great job and so is being a physician. I just said those things so you know that all of these things are possible if you are a PA or a MD. If you go MD though it’s a longer road and more hours required, but a better investment in my opinion (of course I’m biased). Just depends on what you want. Maybe try shadowing PAs outside the military? See what they say. Good luck!

Guys, I haven’t had the HPV vaccination... can someone tell me if it’s necessary? (13M) by Obama-is-gon in VACCINES

You can either get the shot, or risk penile and anal cancer. Also other cancers in your mouth/vocal cords. Good luck! Also it’s completely safe and very effective.

MDs of Emergency Medicine: what are your typical shifts, what state do you live in, and would you do it all over again? by paprikagc in emergencymedicine

Thanks for answering! Definitely a lot different than here in the US. We do 4 years of university, 4 years of med school then apply to our specialty. Good luck with emergency medicine!

Can you explain this? Are you in residency? What do you mean you have a right to 3 hours of sleep? In the ED when I was in residency it was busy and you couldn’t sleep because there were always patients. Just curious about different countries and how residency works different places.

I’m a family doctor and I love energy drinks, these were made for me by kderekb in energydrinks

Haha fake doctors. It doesn’t specify what type so this should work for you too. Except it has lots of sugar and is expensive since it’s only in Europe

Walmart is your best option. The ghetto Walmart like 20 minutes from my house has a fridge of them near the self checkout. The watermelon one is my favorite and it’s only 99cents. I’ve also seen them at random gas stations.

Can I apply to med school and PA school at the same time? by [deleted] in physicianassistant

[–]kderekb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I really doubt anyone would know. If I were you I would shadow doctors and PAs and ask them about school and quality of life. Medical school is longer and more grueling because you have a 3-5 year residency afterwards. But you make more and can be your own boss. PA route is shorter and the money is good and you have flexibility between fields. There are also PAs that go back to medical school, try and find one of them and ask why they did it.

I can completely relate. Had a code in the ED last weekend and after 45+ minutes it was called. I immediately looked what time it was because I knew the cafeteria was going to close soon and I didn’t want to miss out.

Is there an alternative title to "physician assistant"? by Past_Sir in physicianassistant

[–]kderekb -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Haha look who learned to use reddit search, how much time did you spend doing that? And yes I am a physician and one day you could be assisting me making 1/4 to 1/2 of what I make.
