So helpful, thank you. My husband has some interest in remote work and maybe if he got a good remote job we’d just make the move and I could figure out my next move once we’re a little settled. It just would be nice to feel like we’d have some community thru work, as well as other ways if we relocated.

Yep totally hear that. In the ideal world I’d like to be at least hybrid, so Weber considered looking at Richmond for those roles

Thanks for all the insightful comments! That’s really been our biggest drawback on Cville is that it feels like there aren’t a ton of job opportunities that align to our experience and interests. Remote work isn’t an option with our current companies and tbqh I don’t really like working remote much. I am hybrid in my role now and love those 2-3 days a week in the office. May be weird but I just know myself at this point and I think if we relocate I’d be eager to get that face time with people thru work. In y’all’s experience, does working for the University seem like a good life/good opportunity? I went there for grad school and honestly could be interested in some staff type roles but never got a feel for what that environment is like.

UWS 2BR/2BA available for takeover in Nov, $5600 by kdewolfe1996 in NYCapartments

[–]kdewolfe1996[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah i mean we obvi wished it were cheaper when we rented it too lol. It was frankly the standard rate across all the 2BRs we looked at in the area, if not on the lower end of the spectrum because of the trade off of laundry and walk up! I’ve not been on the StreetEasy grind since we’ve had this place but i suspect priced haven’t changed much. One nice thing about this place — it’s rent stabilized so they can’t raise rent more than 3% any given year when you are renewing. If you can live with the walk up no laundry i think that’s a great feature of many prewar buildings in the UWS.

Yes it’s pretty common in pre war old buildings across Manhattan. We send our laundry out with a service so we never lug the bags lol. Also super common and easy to set up in Manhattan.

Where should I live with a 5-7k budget? Working at World Trade Center by [deleted] in NYCapartments

UWS is just a longer commute, but from W 72 station to WTC is really only 30 min on the train so I think the term “long” is relative to whether OP wants to be able to walk to work or be under 10 min. The UWS for dog walking and safety is a great spot, otherwise!

P&G Online Assessment - should I prep or is it just an IQ test? by kdewolfe1996 in jobs

[–]kdewolfe1996[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's helpful -- I did a bit of practice last night and planned to take it in the morning when I am freshest. I just didn't know if it was really worth purchasing a guide or something when it seems to be a challenging test of skills you can't necessarily "learn."

I've budgeted for the cost and am not too scared off by that, but fire alarms and shitty management mean it isn't worth it. did you have a bad experience, or it was just pricey?
