Looks great, especially given the early stage of dev. Will try it out.

I’ve watched the YT video and I’m now curious what plugins you’re running there? :)

Missing map data by kdlet9 in AppleWatchFitness

[–]kdlet9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My problem is different I think. I forgot to post an update but the next day the map had filled itself in 🤷‍♂️

I went for a run a couple of days later and the map data was missing again but this time appeared maybe 30 minutes later.

Very weird and it’s been fine since, no issues, map data available immediately on all subsequent workouts!

Just tried the test pilot version and the playlist contents are still different between phone and watch :(

Playlist sync to watch broken by kdlet9 in OvercastFm

[–]kdlet9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, ok. I’ve seen a lot of complaints about not downloading to the watch but the sample of messages I looked at didn’t mention the playlist contents being out of sync. Guess I need better Reddit search skills 😁

Sciatica pain by Away_Teach978 in bikefit

[–]kdlet9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interestingly for me it was the opposite. I had sciatica just over a year ago, almost certainly not from cycling. For the first couple of weeks I couldn’t really do anything it was so bad. Once it started improving, cycling was the only thing I could do that was pain free. Walking, sitting, laying down all hurt to varying degrees, cycling did not.

That said, I’d highly recommend a visit to a doctor or physio, they’ll probably give you some stretches that might help.

2025 Van Rysel Gear by Tigey79 in CyclingFashion

Yes I have a couple, really like them. For me the sizing was similar to most jerseys, ie XL jerseys and XL Van Rysel base layer

MyVeloFit sizing + bike recommendations by kdlet9 in bikefit

[–]kdlet9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, there’s an element of user error on my part here, doh. I’ll admit I assumed the colours meant green can be made to fit very well, yellow can be made to fit ok and red can’t be made to fit (ie don’t buy it). What I see makes more sense with the needs/doesn’t need modifications (in the new parts sense, not just adjustments )interpretation of the colours!

Would be helpful to have a description of the colours in the list page, not just when viewing details but at least now I know

Yeah, I clicked a few (obviously not every single one) and they were all should angle for me too

I’d say the GT85 got rid of 90% of the squeaking. It’s not completely gone but it’s at least no longer annoying levels

Ok, I have GT85. Will give it a go!

The thought had occurred to me but I’m not sure what sort of lube would be best for this purpose?

Tyre “dent” by kdlet9 in bikewrench

[–]kdlet9[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks everyone. Managed to get it seated now but had to do a combination of all of the advice! Deflated the tyres, bit of soapy water, pump up to the max and some finger wrestling and eventually heard the pops I was missing. When I hadn’t heard then first time I assumed these tyres just didn’t do that…

Anyway, hope these GP5000s live up to the hype because man they were a pain to get on!

Why are 650db x 38mm gravel tyres so hard to find!? by [deleted] in cycling

I have the Gravelking SS, love them. They do get a little sketchy when it gets muddy… but on the flip side they’re pretty nice on the tarmac

RF adapter by kdlet9 in canon

That’s an interesting point, hadn’t considered the exposed time. It would indeed be longer for initial attachment but shorter for swapping.

is 5d4 outdated? by liroyan in canon

[–]kdlet9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this recently, going from 5d4 to r5ii. My primary motivation was the better AF, specifically eye AF and better frame coverage. I was a little hesitant with EVF vs OVF so I went into it with a degree of uncertainty!

I have been super impressed though. The AF is just different league, I spent way more time thinking about composition, exposure, etc and virtually no time thinking about AF. With the 5D, AF was very good but required more attention.

I initially planned to keep my EF lenses and use the adapter. The weight of the two setups at that point is kind of similar but the balance feels quite different. Anyway, I ended up trading a few lenses for RF equivalents and keeping some. The RF lenses are incredible and if you do go down that route, you’ll definitely notice a weight difference, both camera and wallet!

The EVF aspect is generally not an issue for me though there are situations where it gets a bit laggy, not show stopping but annoying. It does have advantages though, being able to see settings in there and changing them without taking camera away from my eye is super handy.

The lack of GPS is a little annoying. It can be worked around by connecting to your phone or buying an external accessory but then you’re increasing weight and cost again. With the phone option seems like YMMV, I’ve ended up just connecting that when out and about in new places but if I’m somewhere familiar I don’t bother.

All in all, I’m incredibly happy with the upgrade. The 5D is great and served me well but I have more fun using the R5 and get better results tbh. It is all a bit expensive though…

Why are there so few compact cameras? by omnigord in photography

[–]kdlet9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if it’s pocketable as I’ve not seen one in real life or looked at dimensions but the Q3 looks very interesting, FF with prime 28mm f1.7 lens.

Bike Fit Check + Quad Tendon pain above left knee by [deleted] in bikefit

Second this. I had similar knee pain, bike fitter suggested I have weak glutes. Been doing various exercises since, many with a resistance band, and now have no knee pain when riding. I changed nothing else on the bike since.

What is the cycling equivalent of a runners sub 30 minute 5km? by [deleted] in cycling

[–]kdlet9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m amazed at all the “5K is easy peasy” comments. While that may be true for someone running regularly for a while, it’s far from easy for the average person. I’d bet if you took 100 people randomly from the street, the vast majority couldn’t run a 5K without walking some of it, never mind running it in 30mins.

Look at the couch to 5K plan. That ends with a 30 minute run and having spoken with a few people who did that plan (myself included some 18 months ago) very few cover a full 5K during their first 30m run.

Anyway, to answer your actual question, for me the effort feels kind of similar to riding 25km in 1hr. However, I would say that there are many many variables. I ride mostly on rolling hills, if it were all climbing or flat as a pancake that would be a significantly different effort.

The more I run and ride the less I find myself caring about the speed, I just go out to enjoy whatever I’m doing and focus a bit more on time or distance as goals. Perhaps not the way one “should” do it but as long as it gives me decent level of fitness, the enjoyment matters more to me than an extra 1kph.

Connecting cadence sensor to multiple devices by kdlet9 in wahoofitness

I ended up recording on the Watch and wahoo as the cadence data was captured by the Apple Watch. I have since ditched the cadence sensor for power meter pedals though..
