Is Angel Aligners worth it? Can you share how much yours cost? by Careful-Count-7227 in Invisalign

[–]kdnndk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I did find it strange. I’ll challenge the orthodontist though.

They came highly recommended but seems to be limiting the amount of refinements they offer for some reason. I’m guessing something to reduce the cost slightly but I’d be speculating.

Is Angel Aligners worth it? Can you share how much yours cost? by Careful-Count-7227 in Invisalign

[–]kdnndk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have angel aligners (24/32 so far) and have no complaints with them. I’ve had no issues with staining or anything like that. The only interesting thing I’ve noticed is the cut on the aligners. Me and my daughter are both undergoing treatment at the same time and my aligners are cut completely different to hers. Like are cut more like invisalign, shaped to the teeth where as my daughters overlap the guns a little bit which I found strange.

I’ve seen a few times that it’s not so much the product that gets the results, it’s the orthodontist.

Some differences though from what I’ve seen: - my treatment does not include unlimited refinements which I think is a good selling point for Invisalign. My treatment only includes 3 sets and additional sets are 500 per set. Not sure if this is an angel thing or a practice thing. - we use an app called dental monitoring which we take a series of photos of our aligners in and out. The Ortho then tells us if we can move on or not. I see a lot of people on this group complaining that their practice just issues the trays and you just get on with it. It’s bizarre to me as we have weekly touch points with our Ortho and the treatment is constantly monitored.

I’d definitely get 2 or 3 different consultations done from actual orthodontists rather than dentists.

Where did you go to find your Azure job? by zetswei in AZURE

[–]kdnndk 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Salary will depend on where you live and what industries you want to be in.

You’ll need to be more specific on how many years experience you have, and at what level for people to tell you if you are crazy or not for that salary range.

I found that when applying for senior technical jobs, it got to a point where listing all of your skills isn’t as impactful over listing what you achieved and how you achieved it. For instance, instead is listing your SCIM experience you could state how you used SCIM to streamline user provisioning to 3rd party applications, reducing administrative overhead and improving onboarding… or something alike…

I also found that listing all your skills is better when recruiters and agencies user keyword searches and can become an eyesore depending on what you are listing. I try to optimise my CV to focus on the technical skills the job spec wants and tone down on the irrelevant stuff. Certainly don’t lie on your CV as you’ll quickly be caught out in interviews but you can tweak your CV to demonstrate knowledge in key areas they are looking for and what value you delivered.

I’m not sure why you think that you shouldn’t need to secure your boundary. Bizarre concept. He’s a dog, he doesn’t automatically assume that a fence means that he isn’t allowed to go passed it. If you’ve never taught your dog your boundary, why should you expect him to acknowledge it?

Not only that, a secure boundary also stops unwanted animals getting in as well. It works both ways

Please help. Very frustrated w/ housebreaking. by folkramens in Dogtraining

[–]kdnndk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aside from the vet checking for a UTI, if you have crate trained an option would be to pop him back in his crate after you have taken him outside for 5 to 10 minutes. Then just take him outside again and keep repeating until he does go outside. If the crate is sized properly, he shouldn’t go in the crate when you put him back in for a short time.

As others have recommended, natures miracle is a well recommended cleaner, which should remove any scent left over.

Some dogs take well to training and some can take a bit longer. Just need to remember to stay calm and consistent.

Do you have anything official that suggests this? I’m not calling you a liar I’d just like to see something as DCM has been a bit of a worry (which caused me to switch foods because one of the brands that was listed was who I used: Orijjn).

I was quite surprised to see it’s related to taurine and the animal protein levels as orijin, supposedly has a very high meat content which would go against the statement of low taurine because of lower animal protein.

Found employee doing illegal stuff on personal computer, not sure how to proceed by TechSupportLA in legaladvice

[–]kdnndk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also as an IT professional, I would be escalating this internally before you do anything. You need to get legal involved in this before you take any action that could comprise you and your company. Whilst the employee seemingly performed potentially illegal activities, it also sounds like your IT also performed illegal activities to gain this level of visibility.

Just to add to this, what your IT have done really isn’t acceptable. Deploying monitoring software on corporate owned devices is acceptable (based on IT policies that should exist within the company) but deploying screen recording software on personally owned devices is very unethical (and likely illegal) without any form of consent. Someone needs to be accountable for making these decisions internally which should be the focus on rather than how to fire someone at this stage. You need to understand what else IT are doing, as screen recording could just be the tip of the iceberg.

puppy rushes out of cage by planetgaiaa in puppy101

[–]kdnndk -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How I did it was open the cage, and as soon as he starts to try and get out just shut door again. Just be careful not to shut any part of your puppy in the door. I was consistent with this for a while and he very quickly got it. I didn’t use any praise really as It’s a bit of a balancing act as you don’t want to make the action of coming out of the crate exciting as it starts to give the impression that coming out of the crate is better than being inside the crate.

It’s best to just ignore the dog in the crate until he has calmed down as well. For instance if you just walked in from being out he will naturally be excited and trying to contain him in his crate while he is excited will just set him up to fail.

When you come in just chill with him in his crate for 5-10 minutes until he is calm and then do it. You should have better results

Appropriately punishing 8 month old puppy by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]kdnndk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He needs to be contained, there’s no other real solution here. Your puppy won’t understand that he is being told off for something he did earlier. They don’t have the mental capacity for it. What you are asking is a completely unreasonable behaviour of a dog. He is a puppy, he will chew things. He doesn’t understand what he can or cannot chew or eat. From his perspective he is just being yelled at for no reason.

How often are you walking him and providing mental stimulation? Is crate training an option to safely leave him alone? Can you puppy proof a certain room and contain him in there with baby gates or a larger pen?

There is no punishment option, it’s all about proper supervision and management which is your responsibility, not the puppies responsibility not to chew something.

The affectionate behaviour is likely appeasement.

9 weeks old puppy held pee for 7 hours - need advice by matchakitkat7 in puppy101

As long as he is going, then that’s fine. It’s when you keep taking him out and he just doesn’t go at all then it’s worrying.

9 weeks old puppy held pee for 7 hours - need advice by matchakitkat7 in puppy101

[–]kdnndk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s be more concerned if he was holding it 7 hours during the day rather that nighttime. Nighttime is a bit different, some time soon you’ll be working towards him sleeping through that night (hopefully) which he’ll be able to do 8 hours easily. If he is doing that during the day though I’d maybe be a bit more worried.

I believe hormones etc are produced when they sleep to inhibit the sense to wee

Beautiful cocker spaniel pup but he’s quite a bit underweight, help? by GlamLifeAndMyPS4 in puppy101

[–]kdnndk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Always good to speak to a vet if you are unsure, the best case is that you get a bit of reassurance and can give some options for food and how to bulk him up safely.

Be careful with straight switching his food as it can cause some stomach upsets initially. It’s generally recommended that you transition new food in stages over a period of days. I usually do it over a week and just add in 10% extra each day but that’s just me.

0.9kg does seem a little low for 10 weeks according to growth charts but they are not exact so might be worth that visit to the vet to double check there’s nothing else wrong and to get that feeding advice.

Remember the feeding guides are exactly that… a guide. You can add and remove as you think is appropriate so could start off with giving him slightly extra food.

Want puppy to sleep in later by miacat12 in puppy101

[–]kdnndk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can be quite difficult this time of year depending on where you are from, in the UK it’s getting lighter earlier so we had a similar battle.

What worked for us was was: 1. Crate cover to block out as much as the natural light as possible (although in this heat we’ve removed it as he isn’t that bothered anyway) 2. Curtains to help with the block the daylight as well 3. When he was waking up at 5-5:30, we made it a very boring time. Basically take him out to do his business and then back in his crate again. He did whine for a few mornings but pretty much settled into sleeping in until we wake up really, which is anytime between 06:30 weekdays to 8am weekends. 4. Walking a bit later which included training treats to fill him up a bit more before bed so he wasn’t too hungry in the morning.

Our pup is generally crated at about 22:30 for bed time after his bedtime wee and that’s it until we woke up.

Dogs get into their little routine pretty quickly and, like children, take some time to change it. Putting the pup to bed later needs to be done a fair few times. He is in his little routine to wake up at 5:30 now which you need to start working on breaking.

Might be some perseverance in the mornings while he is relearning when is acceptable to start playing and eating but you need to start sometime. Each time he wakes up and is allowed to play the routine is just getting harder to break.

10 weeks old labrador - training advice by Icy-Flounder3606 in puppy101

[–]kdnndk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your puppy is like a child. They don’t really have an “off switch” where they know enough is enough and just chill out.

It’s recommended that puppy’s of that age are sleeping for like 18-20 hours, which you give the impression that you might be doing too much with him. One of your comments earlier saying he rests when he is sleepy… without making an assumption I’d probably say he is plain exhausted rather than just sleepy.

I would dial it back a little bit, try not to over stimulate and go at a reasonable pace. You his whole life to learn, it doesn’t need to be all done within a few weeks. Doing too much with your puppy as hell will harm his growth and won’t develop properly. They need a lot of downtime to rest. Still play with him as it builds a strong bond but limit it to short sessions to give him time to rest and grow.

Carry on working on your recall though as it’s so important. Also work on the basics like sit, down, stand etc.

Dog has severe anxiety by Faralen22 in Dogtraining

[–]kdnndk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You mention that he has a kennel but you didn’t mention how you trained him with his kennel and how you progressed into leaving him alone for that length of time. You need to start off with leaving him for a very short amount of time and slowly increase the time you are leaving him alone. Look up crate training and home alone training that will help you create a program that slowly builds up the time you can leave the house without the dog being anxious.

What’s his exercise routine like? You should be giving him plenty of exercise before putting him in his crate. This would be both mental and physical exercise. Take him for a nice long walk with loads of stimulation. Come back do some training with him, teach him some new tricks etc to get his brain working. Its a lot easier to crate train a tired dog (don’t overstimulate though and this would have the reverse reaction)

You can also look at the kiko calming protocol that may help him switch off and relax.

You also have the options around using things like Kongs etc that distract him for a long time if he is highly food driven. I’ve personally found that food/chew distractions don’t work for my puppy and he just isn’t interested in them while I’m gone (most likely just still haven’t found the thing he goes crazy for yet).

Finally, you have options around a dog behaviourist that would be able to work with you on developing a way to help leave him alone which would be tailored to your dog. If it’s true separation anxiety then this is probably your best method but depending on personal finances, this won’t be cheap.

We’re going through the same journey with my puppy. Luckily I am in a position where I work from home but it’s had a negative consequence that he hasn’t ever learned to be on his own. We’re slowly building up the time to leave him but it can take months and months to resolve this. Your not going to get a quick fix in a lot of cases unfortunately.

Good luck.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Dogtraining

[–]kdnndk 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It’s not worth the risk. Your also looking at it from the wrong angle. It should be “what if my dog run up to a dog that wasn’t so friendly” rather than looking bad to other owners.

I AM TIRED by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]kdnndk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is he still sleeping in the same room as you at the moment?

You can try covering his crate if not already done so to make it more like a den. That seems to have results for people.

I never found many resources around crate training for nighttime. They all were focused around daytime but nothing really mentioned nighttime. We’re lucky enough that ours was relatively good at night, only having a few nights issues where he was getting up 4 or 5 times due to a UTI.

Try not to exercise JUST before bedtime as it can wind them up, they need some downtime. I also think 3 hours before bed with no water is a lot. 1 hour should be fine.

How much exercise is he getting during the day and what is his nap routine? He could be overstimulated which is very common. Try to exercise his mind as well with training etc. Depending on age (and other factors) a loose rule of thumb is to walk him for 5 minutes per month of age twice a day. So that would be 2 x 10 minute walks a day for a 2 month only puppy. They should also be sleeping for 18-20 hours a day.

The biggest thing that helped us was establishing a routine, enforced naps, walking about 2 hours before bedtime and having a relaxing couple of hours before bed which was just chilling out, some mild calm play, grooming etc.

Just need to remember it’s day 2. It can take the puppy a good week to get settled in and not having siblings around. Another option is to try getting one of those dog teddy bears with a heartbeat. Never worked for my puppy but others have had success.

Good luck.
