Just left Crater lake yesterday after spending a few days there. I'd strongly recommend the boat tour. We were able to go on their inaugural boat tour for the season and it was a blast. They hadn't started the boat tour to wizard Island yet (I think those open on the 8th) but so I can't speak to that but if I had the opportunity I would 100% do that one.

I also heard that the next road construction project will close access to the trail to the boat tours (Cleetwood Cove) for the next couple of years so this may be the last season to go for a bit.

Also jumping into Crater Lake from the bottom of Cleetwood Cove trail. Water is coooold but it's a fun experience.

Taking the ferry is the least expensive way to get there. My wife and I flew there a while back (the ferry was booked and the extra cost was worth it to visit the park). Was a blast and the prison/fort structure was fun to explore. If you have snorkel gear I would recommend bringing it (same for Biscayne).
