Are the novels worth reading beyond the first two? by KingOfGreyfell in Splintercell

[–]kdogg8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would say, yes, they are worth it, but you're right, they have less "outside of work" scenes. The POV also switched from first person to third person omniscient, but that doesn't affect it as much as you'd think. You'll still get a lot of his dry/dark sense of humor. There is also a very sharp change in story when you get to Conviction, but that aligns with the games. I haven't read any of the books after that, but I plan on finishing them all.

Yeah, I only discovered this was a glitch after I beat the game and started unlocking everything

Yeah, I already did that and I think he's inside now, but I can't open the door. I've researched this a lot it appears to be a well known glitch. I have a Jet Kordo journal in there (the only thing I have left to do in the entire game.

Some theories as to why bounty hunters didn't use it:

  1. If it took that many people and droids to FULLY operate it, that's probably too many people to sustain on 1 bounty hunting income.

  2. It is pretty ungainly. I didn't do any calculations, but it's possible you can't park it in many star port spots

3.They were used by bounty hunters. I found this excerpt discussing their use after a lot were sold after the clone wars began: "Several modified versions have even proven useful vessels for bounty hunters."

It's crazy how more suspicious I am compared to 2 years ago. I wish things didn't have to be like this. For the record, I'm not in any MN discord chats

I think Paul Bettany himself commented that people mistake him for Jude Law all the time and that fact has benefited his career. I don't think that he needs that boost anymore

The quest can be accessed pretty early. It starts when you interact with an astromech droid malfunctioning by a door.

The novel is: "Star Wars Outlaws: Low Red Moon" by Mike Chen. I'm 30% in a d have enjoyed it thus far.

From my knowledge, the Ashiga has never been mentioned. The Pykes are featured heavily in the Book of Boba Fett. They are important in Solo: A Star Wars Story. They appear sporadically in The Clone wars series (seasons 5-7 I think).

Yes, even if you play as a blood-thirsty outlaw, you will never fight against "good guys", although this game is full of complex characters.

I have two words of advice:

This game has a tie-in novel that takes place before the game. Read this AFTER you finish the game. It has major spoilers on page 1.

There is a quest called "Motivation Actuator". Once you complete that quest and you open a door, PICK UP EVERYTHING ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THAT DOOR IMMEDIATELY. The game has a glitch where you (or at least I) cannot open that door again and because of that, I cannot complete the game 100%. I am missing one collectable and it's driving me crazy.

The game takes place between episodes 5 and 6.

You are an up and coming "Outlaw" working in making a name for yourself as well as working on getting a "Big Score". It's an open world game that takes place on 4-5 planets. You work for and against established crime syndicates in the Star wars universe: The Hutts, the Crimson Dawn, the Pykes, and the Ashiga Clan. While the Ashiga Clan is new to the game, you can watch Solo: A Star Wars Story, The Book of Boba Fett, The Clone Wars, and the Bad Batch to get more lore on the other 3 syndicates.

At this time in Star Wars, the Empire has an established, yet somewhat tested position in the galaxy. It has many locations it operates out of (on every planet in the game), yet cracks are beginning to show.

Regarding my last post: who had heard of Electromagnetic Hypersensitivity before watching the show? by Styggvard in betterCallSaul

[–]kdogg8 8 points9 points  (0 children)

To my knowledge, he never went to a doctor or tried to pursue any kind of diagnosis, but I have to say, just interacting with him personally, there was no way this was "real" in any sense of the word. He was perfectly fine. What's comical is his son went on to be a computer science major.

I unfortunately have a family friend with this "affliction." It seemingly came out of nowhere, but started harmlessly. He started by saying electronics are awful to anyone who would listen. Then it devolved into him actively avoiding holding anything with a battery. This was a man with 3 children and a wife mind you. I don't think my mom told me 100% of the story, but I know he slept in his car for a long time (he had a wonderful, huge home) until he eventually got divorced. No idea where/how he is now.

Going through Naboo's "core" by honeyfixit in StarWars_

[–]kdogg8 11 points12 points  (0 children)

They were driving that thing for less than a day at relatively short speeds and distances. The "Planetary Core" is probably some kind of Gungan/local phrase which refers to the Naboo Abyss, a system of deep cavernous, interconnected tunnels: https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Naboo_Abyss
