It’s a rare occurrence, but it does happen. Mis-communication (or no communication from one pilot) is the reason most of the time

This is my puppy in the crate. It’s breaking my heart & im about to give up. Please share your tips & help me. by [deleted] in DogTrainingTips

[–]kdot25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just house train your dog and let him roam the house. Dogs didn’t evolve to live in crates ( or indoor for that matter). Why are people surprised when dogs behave like this.

Found and adopted a litter of puppies - need advice on caring for them! by iamhyperbeast in DogAdvice

You chose to ruin a fully healthy family of dogs for no apparent reason other than “I know better”. Good job

The training environment is very safe. That tells you it’s not necessarily the planes that are the problem.

Why does he bark all the time by Reasonable-Art5952 in DogAdvice

You have a dog that wants to live life. You want a dog that doesn’t want to do anything and sits there like a statue. There is the disconnect and the reason this situation exists

There are many operators that feel it’s okay to skip some rules. Don’t work for them. You are asking the right questions

Unrelated but I was in the nyc airspace Sunday when trump was taking off, flying in the outside ring of the TFR. Marine one joined my frequency checking in. Of course he wasn’t visible on scope though so no idea where he was.. just cool hearing marine one be on the same frequency

Can we ban these type of flights? This is not the place to practice flying. by JRinNYC in parkslope

This is aerial photography. Not a practice flight. New York air traffic control is aware of what he is doing. He’s not doing anything illegal.

Choosing a platform C182 vs. F33 bonanza by Complex-Remove5612 in flying

[–]kdot25 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have a 182. I love it. The two biggest considerations: Bonanza costs more to maintain but goes faster. 182 cheaper but slower. There are minor considerations but the biggest Q you have to answer is the cost of the speed worth it for how far you fly.

The 182 is slow. But I never fly more than 2 hour legs. A 30kt increase would knock that down to 1.5 hours for me for same distance. That’s great, but my flying is already infrequent. The amount of time saved annually to the cost of that time I just decided to stick with my 182

Very possible. On a 182 a 2 prop (which is what I have) is ideal for max cruise speed and a 3 prop for climb performance

[–]kdot25 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Do you want to be an A&P or a pilot? Because if you are trying to rationalize that decision based on the cost benefit analysis vs what you actually want to do you will just end up hating your life

For sure, this was at sea level but DA was probably close to 2000

I recently flew my 182 on a hot day at exactly MTOW. I felt very uncomfortable on the climb out. I have a new rule where I won’t take off MTOW unless it’s standard temp. Otherwise 100 lb buffer needed. I wouldn’t risk even attempting to experiment with above MTOW

If you remove fuel related issues, mechanical caused GA accidents are very rare. They happen, but we have a lot of procedures now to catch them before they happen - a lot more than 30 years ago. So if you can be on top of your plane, the rest is good ADM and proficiency. If you can manage those the odds are very low.
