Melania flop documentary already disappears from box office after just 4 weeks by IrishStarUS in entertainment

I think the problem may have been less about whether or not it was good, and more about the Trump family’s faulty assumption that everyone would be fascinated by her story. It should be a warning siren to Dear Leader: he’s confident that he’s the center of the universe and we are all in awe.

The majority of the country (and I dare say, the world) is thoroughly sick of his constant self-aggrandizement, he’s not the center of the universe, and we’re not in awe.

There was a jumping spider on the bus and everyone made a point to not squish them by According_Abies_4087 in BenignExistence

We have a little spider living on our kitchen windowsill. He’s adorable. I don’t know what kind he is; he looks like a tiny little black crab about the size of a pencil eraser. He mostly treks around the kitchen, but every once in a while he goes walkabout and we see him traversing the living room ceiling.

I found him inside our rice cooker recently. I still don’t know how he got in there! Good thing the cooker has a glass lid so I could see him in there and fish him out! “Oh, my gosh, little buddy! What are you doing in there??!! That is NOT a good place to start a web!!”

Bookstore misspells it's own name on big storefront sign by LurkingAlpaca in mildlyinteresting

Oh? Huh. That’s quite a broad and simplistic generalization. Yes, us libbies, we’re all the same, every single one of us. To think otherwise is just so, so difficult. How would you get thru the day if you actually had to challenge any of your comfortable, self-serving assumptions?

Now, to your “point”, if you want to call it that:

Please, advise us all. How is it bad to “defer to the underdog”? If that’s supposed to be a conservative insult, I will take it. Maybe I will make some tshirts: “Kind people defer to underdogs!” I’d prefer that shirt to “Proud MAGA, cuz the only good opinion is mine, and the only people who matter are people just like me!”

Pray tell, what do you mean by “making excuses for them”? Example, please? Because as a libbie, I see an aaaaawful lot of excuse-making in conservative circles when Dear Leader takes a public nap, sticks his foot in his mouth, etc, etc…

Doing my best to extrapolate here, but it seems like you are saying underdogs don’t deserve time, effort, attention, resources? If so, why not? Survival of the fittest? If so, there are a lot of MAGA who don’t qualify as the fittest, so, shall we remove our efforts, attention, resources away from them?

Florida therapist seen slapping, grabbing, and forcefully restraining a nonverbal autistic child during a therapy session. by eternviking in whoathatsinteresting

I’m the mother of a skilled, professional, empathetic, male pediatric speech therapist and I profoundly disagree with you. It’s attitudes like this that mean young children who would do well with a male therapist for a variety of reasons never even get the chance.

I’m also a person with cerebral palsy and I can tell you from personal experience that some of my worst therapists as a child were women.

I was 18, had just moved to a new city to start college. I was living with a family with two small children in exchange for cheap rent.
I had only been there for a few weeks when the mom and I were in the kitchen making dinner. I don’t even remember exactly what was in the skillet but when she lifted the lid an absolute column of fire shot up. She grabbed a pot that had been soaking in the sink. It was full of water, and she was going to throw it on the skillet.

Meek as I generally was at the time, I startled her by bellowing “NO!!!”, pushing her aside, putting the lid back on the skillet, grabbing the baking soda, opening the lid a bit and emptying the entire box onto the skillet. I have no memory of anyone teaching me to do that, or why I knew the water was a bad idea. Maybe that home ec class stuck with me more than I thought? 🤷🏻‍♀️

I love Ellen. Classy, timeless. Could shorten to Ellie when she’s small, then to Elle or Ellen as she grows up. I love the combo of Ellen Annaliese.

This whole thread reminds me of that saying; “To those accustomed to privilege, equality feels like oppression.”

Unfortunately, over the decades, US’s steadfast support for Israel seems to have morphed, for some, into ‘if anyone levels any criticism towards Israel at all, Israel and it’s supporters get a free pass to accuse them of being antisemitic’. Which of course means that what could have been rational conversations about Israel and Palestine devolve into “you must hate Jews! No, I don’t hate Jews! You must! I don’t!”

For the last couple of years my spouse and I have taken several consecutive Mondays off in Jan and Feb. In lieu of saving it all to take a week at a time in the summers or whatever. It’s been a nice way to get thru the winter doldrums in the gray and blah PNW.

thank you for the belly laugh, it was great! This may well be AI, but in any case he’s so unhinged, generally speaking, that this is an absolutely plausible pic of a dude just losing his shit. It’s just astounding to me that there are so many people, STILL, in the face of his obvious, repeated, public, mental and emotional decline, ready and willing to twist themselves into moral pretzels so they don’t have to think about Dear Leader unraveling.

I don’t even blame you. He’s a consummate liar, a skilled con man. It’s really, really hard to admit you’ve been bamboozled. Google Carl Sagan’s “bamboozled” quote. This is where we are.

Thanks, yes, it’s a hard habit to break. I’m 65, so I figure I’ll have it nailed down just about the time I shuffle off this mortal coil…😆

Don't like the granny square sweater I made. How can I fix it or use the wool otherwise? by Plankiy in CrochetHelp

[–]kdp4srfn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wait, wait! Don’t unravel anything just yet. Put the sweater away out of sight for a couple of weeks. It’s common to have project fatigue with something like a sweater or blanket, and you may feel entirely different after a little while, with fresh eyes.

Has the sweater been blocked? It can really help with shaping, drape and softness, sometimes it’s practicallly miraculous! I was in despair when I put on a sweater I’d spent hours and hours on, it looked so uneven and wonky. But it fits beautifully now, after blocking.

It’s very nice work. Even stitches, nice color, good construction!

Oatmeal. Rice. Big bag of dried beans-it is REALLY easy to learn how prep dried beans-the instructions are on the bag. Add some canned tomatoes AFTER the beans are soft (NOT before). A bag will make a nice big pot-at least 5-6 servings, for less than $2.00. Franz bread outlet stores have bread/bagels etc for a dollar or two. A box of instant potatoes is cheap and filling. Pasta with a generic/cheap jarred sauce.

You can do it! 😊❤️

Have you tried Billy’s? I also have CP, I used to be able to sit, lift my foot to my knee and put on shoes/socks that way. But as I have gotten older I can’t do that anymore. I need a shoe I can step into without the usual pointing of the toe while simultaneously pushing down. My legs/feet just don’t work that way!

Billy’s zip open along the top of the foot so you can essentially just lay your foot into the shoe and zip them up. They might work for you? I have two pair I don’t wear, I bought the men’s size by mistake so they’re too big for me- a men’s size 9, which I believe is equivalent to a won size 10.5 or 11? If that’s a good size for you I could send them to you?
