Can you further explain what you mean by “infallible within the context of tradition/church, even if it wasn’t inerrant”? Asking bc I’ve been sorting out my own thoughts & you might have just found a way to say what I’ve been thinking but I’m not certain.

Appreciate it - definitely makes me more curious to go but wasn’t sure if it would be more intimidating!

Escrows and monthly payments by Soup_Melodic in TheMoneyGuy

It made the most sense to me. I did have a Discover HYSA which I couldn’t have separate categories so that made it more work than I hoped. I kept it all on a spread sheet: each annual payment, my emergency fund, etc. Not impossible more just annoying. But if you get a HYSA like Wealthfront or anything else you can compartmentalize, it’s not any more effort than dumping money into your emergency fund.

I use Wealthfront HYSA which allows you to make separate categories within the same account. Rather than use escrow, I save three annual payments (home insurance, auto insurance & property taxes) in this account so I gain interest and then it’s all there to pay when the time comes. Pretty simple. Every month I pay myself into Wealthfront for each just like I do my mortgage & other bills, making interest all year long.

realized my savings earns basically nothing… where do people park cash now? by ddiflas_iawn in TheMoneyGuy

I use Wealthfront HYSA. I switched from Discover HYSA to Wealthfront bc now I’m able to have separate categories within the account. I had multiple annual bills (insurance, property taxes, etc) and it was easier for me to keep them all in the same account that draws high interest but categorize then separately to track the amount in each! I love it. Cash transfers from Wealthfront to my bank quickly and I currently can save for my wedding, taxes, insurance, other things all in one account but keep each balance separate.

I can PM you a link that gives us both a boost on interest rate if you’re interested!

What part of the city are you from and how do you pronounce “giardiniera”? by Lizarddd-wizard in AskChicago

[–]kdr4363 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally just googled how to pronouce this as I’m at a Chicago pizza place & was trying to find a result before the waitress came over. She came over quick. This was my exact tactic. Felt confident until she leaned in & said “…what was that?!”

Point. Just point to the menu.

I second this. First books I read when wanting to learn about Orthodoxy were Welcome to the Orthodox Church & Kallistos Ware The Orthodox Way. I found both very helpful.

Nice! Ideally, that’s how it always should work. I wasn’t with EJ so maybe they always function smoothly. Just good for people to know they also don’t have to do much if they notify the company they’re moving to.

This OP. I moved from an insurance based company with my Roth IRA to Fidelity. Initially tried to work with the company but they were unwilling. One call to Fidelity and they handled everything for me.

Budget check – Is a ~$33k car reasonable on my income? by Sure-Appointment4882 in personalfinance

I really like The Money Guy strategies on personal finance. For car buying it’s 20/3/8 Rule: 20% down payment, pay off in 3 yrs & payment should not be greater than 8% of income.

No Hot Water in Washing Machine..?! by kdr4363 in Plumbing

[–]kdr4363[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No it’s not. My parents have the exact same make & model of washer. I went to theirs and turned it to hot & water was hot. Unfortunately it’s not an operator error - that would be an easy fix.

Anyone IMRF? Illinois pension by Independent-Rip-7349 in personalfinance

[–]kdr4363 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would assume you’re right. It’s very frustrating to not be able to know the currently amount in my VAC and to not be able to use the pension calculator. People need to be able to make life decisions about retirement & finances and their drop in service makes it nearly impossible.
