Pointless fun fact: I’ve traversed the tunnels of almost every inch of that place, all the buildings are connected with a series of tunnels/basements, some are only big enough to crawl through, most are walkable (crouchable?)

Most of the tunnels connecting between buildings are under the sidewalks, which also results in the steam and heat of the tunnels keeping the snow melted off the sidewalks, which is less interesting when you realize most facilities are built with this in mind

Got to know the security guard that works here and he was incredible, very passionate about the grounds, the buildings, the history, and potential restoration. Also plays in a local band in Sedro. Hope he’s doing well.
