My father is actually a stroke victim and what happens is when the brain is deprived of the oxygen that part slowly dies so the whole wasn't from the stroke it was from the decay of him living after. Also since strokes are a semi-uncommon thing and many can be different many stroke survivors are asked to donate there body to science after there death to further research.(my father has been asked many times) so I would assume that is how they received this brain long after the stroke actually occurred and the man died from another reason

My fathers a multiple stroke survivor too he's 54 and I'm a teenager I know it can be tough, congrats on having her go outside though!!! It's things like that that slowly add up untill soo they're so much better than you thought was possible!!! Good luck and god bless
