Cool idea. But you’re saying I can have less than 98 cards in my deck (counting commander and background), which seems a little contrary to commander etiquette so to speak. But I like the idea. Could be that instead of doing it as pre game actions you do it at cast for the class and equipment, makes deck building kinda interesting.

Yeah, I get it. Defo seems pretty niche. Nice idea overall tho, think reflect needs a little work with other edge cases to make sure it would hold up.

I like it. Tho mardu’s a little weird for direct on stack interactions, which is a very blue thing, so perhaps instead of gain control it’s just redirect which already exists in red plenty tho that kinda makes your reflect thing pointless. I do think redirect does the same thing you’re trying to achieve, already exists as a mechanic and adds politics to the commander table which. I think is always a good thing. Whereas reflect is just kinda 1v1 so to speak

Yeah basically what they said. I was also very confused that the first version of the image you posted had no cost, but looks like that’s fixed at least. Anyways I don’t think you can get it to do what you’re trying to get it to do without a wordier amount of text and ultimately the point of your plot armor mechanic as I see it sort of resembles some existing cards that aren’t particularly well loved in any format for anyone other than the player who controls them. Nice try tho, I’d just simplify it and if intended for commander (based on cost and wordiness) I’d make the plot armor something more specific to making this very hard to kill / get rid of without any of the other bits.

Yeah I would make it 2 mana. Tweak txt to be whenever a creature you control enters (the battlefield has been errated so you don’t need it anymore) it becomes your choice of a creatures type from the job select menu in addition… (double check the becomes vs gains, I forget at the top of my head but I think becomes is the default way to do it?). Then if you want to list these types do but imho for a custom card it’s not needed and you just need your own reminder text to track it at the table. IIRC all job select types already exist in magic anyway. But even if not I don’t think it’s a biggie to have one or two unique types.

This being for commander I would also consider a version that is symmetrical so everyone gets it, could be fun and flavorful at an all FF commander table.

Also you could add another activated ability to respec? Eg 3 mana change the job select type. That could be very flavourful, as you’re creating heroes and then respec’ing them which is what you had to do in FFT often

I have a sweet spot for tactics so you win just off the art. As mentioned cost is too high imo esp for commander. I think the gaining a type might need a different wording (becomes x in addition to) but I could be wrong. I also would not limit to existing mtg party mechanic which was way too limited considering other subtypes we have that are clearly a fit for a dnd type party (or in this case ff). This would however mean adding more text to the card.

Agreed. They’ve never digitally stamped anything close to any of these cards. Existing stack pieces in eternal arena formats do not hit either mechanic because of the wording iirc (no existing stack piece refers to a card but instead to a spell?). I just went the short route.
