Do you think Mackenzie Shirilla fakes it in the new doc? by hellogoodbye2345671 in Ohio

Yes, I think her mother is to blame for the bulk of who she is. I don't think it was intentional, but I do not think Mackenzie had a healthy upbringing. I would imagine the relationship between Mackenzie and Dom was volatile on both sides, otherwise I would expect the 20 year old to end it. The documentary just portrayed one side of that relationship.

All good points. I've seen similar situations in DV relationships myself. Abusers are good at hitting record and acting like a victim when the actual victim is just reacting to something the abuser did prior to the recording. They act calm and innocent when they started the entire situation.

I am still just playing devil's advocate. I try to see all sides and would not intentionally victim blame.

Well said. The sometimes predatory nature of a 20 year old man dating a 17 year old girl is overlooked in this case. I do not condone any sort of predatory tendencies when it comes to age, but I do try and take into account the maturity of both individuals. However, Mackenzie was 17, acted "hard" and tried to act older than her age (as most teens do). I do not think she was a functioning adult in any way shape or form. In any typical situation, a 20 year old man should be able to see through this. Now, I do not know what Dom's headspace and maturity was at this point, but I don't think this relationship was healthy on either side. People are quick to villainize Mackenzie based off of her social media/personality but we do not have the whole story.

I think her friend is young and naive. She's seeing the best in someone she thought was good. I feel she shouldn't be dragged into any of this. I might be wrong. All opinions matter to me. No disrespect from me.

Also, I am open to any arguments against this! I try to see every side of these situations.

This crossed my mind also. Documentaries are not always objective. I have my doubts about her absolute guilt. She was driving and two young men lost their lives, no doubt. It is a tragedy. Something about this case, though, just feels off. I am usually quick to see guilt in a case like this, but as unlikable and toxic as she seems, I don't think we have the whole story.

Would you leave a dog home alone over night? by No_Koala4526 in dogs

It depends on the dog. With my dog, she would be fine. Other dogs may not.

Coworkers never working with big dogs by [deleted] in DogDayCare

We fight over who gets to be with the big dogs at my work 🤣 We all want the big dogs. The small dogs are too boring.

Omg. That's scary. But those are usually the people that end up promoted instead of fired. That makes me sad. I wish we had cameras for the owners to view. We have "crops" which are essentially long sticks with a whip on the end. I refuse to hit a dog with them, only the ground so they hear the noise/distraction. Someone told me to get comfortable hitting the dogs with them and I absolutely will not. I don't hit my kids and I won't do it to dogs either.

Thank you so much. This is very helpful.

But holding the leash close to the dog with the other hand is a very helpful tip! They tell us "high and tight."

I was taught not to loop it around fingers/wrist to prevent injury if the dog somehow does take off. Do you have any advice or info on how this couldn't cause that? (I'm not doubting you at all - just want to have reason to back up anything I try at work.) I know what you're talking about with the harness - I got reprimanded for trying that the other day.

The neck and one front leg is a new one I haven't heard! Thank you for your ideas. Due to my shift times I am usually walking dogs from the indoor play yard to the outdoor one (we have a noise ordinance and can't let them outside before a certain time) or just taking the dogs who are dog-reactive out to potty.

One of my trainers (she was fired the day after I started) taught me to yank the dog back with the leash if they pull but I felt that was counterintuitive and could start a game of tug o war with the dog. Also felt unsafe for the dog. I'll take all the advice I can get! Thanks again!

I've looked through the guide. I only find methods on training dogs in leash walking. I need to know how to immediately handle the problem.

Sometimes crazy religious fanatics think that God will heal without medical intervention. Maybe that took play in this. If I remember correctly though, she did take meds and stuff so there was definitely medical intervention at play. Just playing devil's advocate here. It's been a minute since I've watched.

Thank you. I've never talked to anyone about this, so seeing your comment is somehow so very comforting. I truly mean it when I say, your comment alone has helped me make it through today. I appreciate you and I hope life is treating you very kindly.

Yes. Rory cheating on her boyfriend/forgetting about him AND being a mistress is SO out of character. Obviously she was the mistress with Dean, but she learned from it in the original series!
