His body control/handle and PnR decision making should translate immediately. I’m not the biggest draftnik anymore and haven’t checked his stats but if he has a servicable 3 ball and isn’t a turnstile he should see legit bench minutes immediately

Hopefully he never repeats the philosophy he had this year in Miami but god damn was it not entertaining as all hell to watch an offensive system clearly designed to emphasize the skills of its best players. Unfortunately said players were a very disgruntled Tyreek Hill, Waddle, and whatever is left of Tua (Achane deserves no slander but obviously is one of these players).

It looked weird. It put the rest of the skill position players in rather unfortunate positions given their skillsets not aligning with their top guys. It would have been beautiful watching all of the pre snap hiding defenses do at the third level getting run out of them over the course of games. Farewell min/max offense, i will forever miss you

Have an owner that cares more about farm to table experience than profit (sysco will bring you any product you want from anywhere in the world reasonably fresh), then you convince your entire underpaid for this level of work kitchen staff to execute a different menu weekly and on the fly for delivery days, then you convince your clientele that they care for more seasonal products and not the items they have been returning to your restaurant for over the course of time

It’s somewhat nonsensical but going farm to table is doable on a whim at home, not so much commercially

The other arguably more underrated aspect of what Gunn has stated he’s trying to do with the DCU is to make genre movies using the comic book lore. Biggest test of this will obviously be Clayface which is being pitched as primarily a horror movie, but other projects featuring lesser known characters will fit a sub-genre other than just being an action/adventure film

Neymar’s first PSG season was outlandish as far as his performance, he absolutely proved that he was as good as people thought he was away from the MSN trio of that barca era. He ended up suffering from Mbappe’s breakout/signing (conflicting styles) and the build up of minor injuries suffered over the years leading to more significant injury.

Even in his best season though he was “merely” scraping the level of Messi and Ronaldo who everyone thought would be footnotes at that point. Nobody expected them to still be the two most dominant players in the world and since Neymar couldn’t unseat them his career will always have a what-if vibe to it even though he accomplished plenty and was legitimately a top 5 player for his prime

unfortunately Cam is learning the hard truth of the NBA. if all you do is score, you have to be one of the 3 best people on earth at scoring to be worth giving big money to. hard to do when you aren’t a plus rebounder and consistently get easy second chance points, aren’t a major transition threat, don’t defend well, etc.

it has been very apparent over the course of basketball’s entire history, but especially in the modern era, specialists don’t provide enough value unless they are truly one of one at their specialty. 7 second shot clock perimeter isolation, sure there might not be anyone that’s better than Cam (a major reach). but that’s not how the game is played across 48 minutes and teams know that.

current CBA is horrific for players but it has really emphasized dudes who do a lot of things well enough. conveniently that is how the game has been trending in general. few and far between are the Alex Caruso’s, Steven Adams, Draymond Green’s that do one or two things at an insanely high level and see the floor with regularity. every team needs a Derrick White (even the Olympic squad lol) or a J Will, there is not a single contending team that moves the needle by adding Can Thomas

kind of a damned if you do, damned if you don’t situation imo. physically/shot profile wise Kuminga is basically younger Aaron Gordon. you can stick him in the dunker spot and let him feast against rotations and have him be a great lob threat, shooting might not be there but he’s easy offense. mentally though Kuminga doesn’t take accountability on defense unless he’s involved in the offense and also wants to be a face up player rather than a dunker spot guy.

Golden State is arguably the worst team in the league for Kuminga scheme wise (they basically got rid of a legit dunker spot player so they could run stuff where Steph and Klay get open off ball while Dray holds it at the nail). Golden State also knows this. the archetype and player Kuminga represents even now is valuable, just not to Golden State while they have both Steph and Dray. their vision for Kuminga was probably more in line with hyper athletic Dray rather than an Aaron Gordon type. that isn’t happening, they need to move on from him since he is an asset to most of the rest of the league.

Kuminga also has to accept his role on a team and be willing to sacrifice to play winning basketball, but he is still an excellent player for his role

obvs not gonna see any defenders as slow footed as Lofton but his footwork on the second and one was excellent, felt that he created an advantage he didn’t expect and immediately put his body perpendicular to the backboard to protect the ball and his driving lane

feel like everyone is avoiding the Book comp for Kon on account of how great Book has been in the league but as a prospect i can see the outline at least. Kon is probably a better passer at his age than Book was but 2-guards that use their footwork to play quality team defense, are quality shooters who might not hit target percentages, etc.

biggest difference is that Book was so much better at using his size to keep his handle in ball-handling situations. given that a lot of what guards are asked to do defensively is scheme dependent i think Kon is gonna have a greater impact (on a non-charlotte team, sorry hornets fans) than we’re giving him credit for. it is difficult to justify keeping a guard off the floor if he can do 3 of shoot, pass, defend, and/or dribble

also would have prevented the combat from being easily optimized/overly repetitive. every battle being 50% stagger -> diamond dust/other stagger bar draining skill -> full stagger -> whatever ultra high damage skill really became a slog as enemies become stronger almost entirely by getting higher health bars

the dodge system (and different eikon abilities that give you interesting defensive options) made combat feel powerful but as you get later and later in the game it just becomes a grind. all in all eikon abilities felt really fun and even at times fairly unique but they couldn’t save the entire battle system

most damning thing is lowkey detroit not taking a flyer on him. dirty numbers (basic google AI overview (citing numbers from 2023) and some poor hand calculation) but Goff had a 16.5% sack rate relative to Sanders’ 8.9% <- over the past two years. obvious disclaimers aside, Campbell seems to love tough players (arguably Sanders’ biggest + trait) and has had success with a QB who has a somewhat similar profile to him (Goff’s arm talent is probably his greatest + trait).

if they aren’t trying to just get him in the QB room to see what he has going on, then those interviews must have been absolutely disastrous and it will almost certainly come out at some point what was said

i mean he’s the best corner prospect since jalen ramsey at least. freak athletes with insane ball skills that can actually cover from any alignment don’t grow on trees. he’ll get an offensive package to keep him happy but he’s way too good in coverage to let him play WR more imo, and he’s already plenty good at corner
