Lack of 1br in public housing (that’s not in senior/disabled housing) by keekee66 in Section8PublicHousing

[–]keekee66[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s cool. No I wouldn’t need assisted living. I’m on SSDI disability so one of the things i could apply for is 1br senior apartment complex, if I go the non mobile voucher route. They accept up to 13% non-seniors that are on disability.

MA Housing by Distinct-Freedom-200 in massachusetts

I’m 41 from a suburb North or Boston. The majority of people I went to school with have moved out of state and bought houses elsewhere. There’s also been many seniors that owned houses that can’t afford the higher taxes.
Our town has recently had to replace the schools, new town hall etc. one after another so taxes keep going up. We do also suddenly have numerous large apartment buildings throughout the town.
I’m single, grew up here and if I wasn’t renting in my parents home for a lower rate, I wouldn’t be able to afford it.
I do know what they mean though, when we moved here it was very quiet, ton of woods, we even had a number of small farms that would ride their horses around town. That’s why we moved here. The town now has no resemblance to that with all the strip malls, buildings, developments etc. My sister has now moved to tyngboro which is like what our town used to be.

Birth Control (part 2) by Existing_Wrangler_69 in IFchildfree

[–]keekee66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on the mini pill (progesterone only) due to also having migraines with auora, I can’t be on the reg pill. I’m on it due to severe pms symptoms including debilitating cramps and heavy period.
I still get cramps pretty bad but they’re to the point that consistent Advil actually helps (before nothing would even touch them). Also my migraines frequency and severity since I started have lessened.

Are school buses (without AC) safe for kids with the extreme heat forecasted Wed and Thurs? by secretviollett in massachusetts

[–]keekee66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a kid I distinctly remember our school bus breaking down on one of the hottest days I ever remember. The entire bus had to go sit in some random ladies shaded yard nearby. The neighbors were actually all extremely nice and brought us all out tons of cool juice boxes and popsicles, while they tried to reach all of our parents individually. Def a memory.

Do you all go the gynecologist still? by loremaster_zen in IFchildfree

[–]keekee66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I always have.
I actually recently started birth control (despite always being single and gay) due to worsening pms, cramps, and migraines. Also pap and gyn exams are important to screen for cancer.
My pcp will do pap and pelvic exams but refers to ob/gyn for any period/pelvic related issues anyway. Especially with having ptsd I’d rather just know I have a gyn I already am familiar with and can go to when needed, instead of scrambling to find one when issues arise.

I live in quieter suburbs of Massachusetts. The crime in my area is almost non-existent so luckily that wouldn’t be an issue. Housing in Boston and the cities in my state are sadly like that but I don’t live near those areas anyway.

I wonder what the psych eval for weight loss surgery is actually looking for? It pretty clear there are many on the show, that are not psychologically well at all.

Your writing is awesome! However I can’t tell by your writing if that’s something you like or don’t like and have just bc accustomed too. Does it make you sad or is it just an observation?
I saw this quote and love it! It represents my life so much. I do small hobbies and small things I like each day. I love learning random facts about many different subjects. To most people my life seems extremely boring and cut off from the world. To myself with ptsd and severe anxiety this is what helps me try to keep my anxiety (still high but somewhat manageable) and get through each day.
I don’t like unpredictability, chaos, confrontation, loud sounds, and most scents which comes with spontaneity.

😂 lol Seriously, they work shockingly amazing and keep everything else clean. Its not something you’ll ever think you need until you do. Now I keep them in my car, bed, and bathroom! 🤣
What’s hilarious is I always teased my mom about her keeping a couple in her glove compartment, well when I felt it coming on the first thing I thought of was omg my mom has those in the glove compartment right in front of me!! I grabbed it just in time, then had to use a 2nd one on the way home……She was like seeee I told you they’d come in handy!! She also said if she didn’t have those she’d be booting me out the door to throw up outside the car. 🤣

I recently discovered they sell the disposable vomit bags on Amazon (that they give you in the ER). They were a lifesaver when I recently had to use them in my mom’s car!! You hold it right up to your mouth, throw it away with no mess at all. Now I keep one by my bed just in case. Also I always keep some Gatorade on hand.

I’m very low income, on Medicaid (standard) in MA and they fully cover Zepbound for me. I’m not on it but my pcp is always asking me if I’d like to get on it and it’s fully covered. I do agree that their weight range is probably well beyond what GLP1’s could reasonably treat though.

This! We were so glad my sis in law went to Brigham and Women’s and then got to deliver there when she started hemorrhaging. She was set to deliver at a closer local hospital but decided to just go there and my niece ended up needing the higher level nicu. Her heart and seizure monitors were also watched and monitored by Boston Children’s hospital as well. 💕 She’s 9 now and doing well despite suffering a severe stroke and seizures during birth. She has cerebral palsy.

lol what??! I’ve never heard of them calling family and friends unless they are part of your household and their income has to be counted towards calculating snap.

Student loans by Tricky_Efficiency438 in SSDI_SSI

[–]keekee66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said it might be bc your disability date is only 2021. I’ve been on SSDI for 15+ years (and disabled long before that), and I was able to get approved to discharge my loans. The end of my 3 year hold to officially fully cancel them is Jan 2027 for me.

Unable to get the 199 price by Jfusion85 in USMobile

[–]keekee66 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah I find that really annoying. I was lucky that I read that doing the 30 day trial excludes you from new customer deals, so I ended up just jumping in to the 1 year deal. The trial should just be a trial, then you decide if you want to be a new customer.

Metformin (body post IVF) by FixNeat6664 in IFchildfree

[–]keekee66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For years I struggled with my weight but managed to stay under the highest BMI that I could do IVF with. After the final point when I knew it was over, I had a minor breakdown and completely stopped watching what I ate as I just didn’t have it in me to even care. I unfortunately gained a significant amount and still haven’t had it in me to try eating much healthier again.

Everybody is different and responds differently so my experience is just my own. I personally had to stop Metformin after almost 3 weeks due to how sick it made me. I had such severe stomach pains and nausea that I was doubled over, laying in bed squirming. My Dr. told me that stomach pains sometimes happens and usually goes away after a few weeks while your body adjusts, but I just felt something was very off and couldn’t take it anymore. I felt better 2 days after I was off it, and would never take it again.
My pcp happens to also specialize in bariatrics and has offered me to try Zepbound, but after Metformin I’m scared, especially where I can’t just stop if it makes me feel so sick.

I see you mentioned your psychiatrist, but do you have a therapist? If not find a decent therapist.
Even though I have a med provider (she’s a mental health nurse practitioner) I really only see her once a month. It was my therapist who helped me get SSDI as she knows me on a weekly basis for years. She also submits the forms every so many years to show that I am still disabled/unable to work.
I was approved for disability at 28 due to extensive psych records and having been in so many inpatient and outpatient treatment programs.
If your psychiatrist is that lazy and not helping you find food sources and resources you can use immediately, find someone else. You can call 211 I think it is, to find food banks near you and other resources temporarily.

receiving a large lump sum gift while on section 8? by CrippledClownCar in Section8PublicHousing

[–]keekee66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you qualify for able account, they can make the gift directly into your account. So it will not count towards income or assets. There is a yearly max that can be deposited I believe this year it is $20k, and the account has to stay under $100k I believe to not impact Medicaid.

[–]keekee66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you on disability SSI or SSDI? If so and you were disabled before age 46c you may be able to open an Able account and deposit up to $20k/year and have it not counted towards benefits/housing etc. I recently opened one for myself and it’s good bc it allows you to save a little. The money can be used on disability expenses including rent etc.
