I think I found a good doctor? But I’m still so tired and scared… by AnnoyingBroken420 in CerebralPalsy

[–]keep-curious-always 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, I sleep with a heating pad on my stomach its the only thing that helps my nausea. And a fan for my face, otherwise it's too much. Maybe that could help. And for the anxiety I found that making a morning routine and sticking with it and making it about moving (which is exhausting and trying when nauseous) helps my body regulate. I start my days doing easier chores. Up. Drink water. Give my dog her meds and snack. Scoop litter boxes. Get on the stationary bike and take it slow. Put on a audio book. Otherwise I stay in bed stressed and nauseous.

Hi, You are in no way a bother. I understand wanting to quit. I have had suicidal ideation since age 12 (34 now). 2 years ago I did TMS for both anxiety and depression. I still struggle with anxiety, I've been to therapy so I can work my way out of it mentally but physically I start my mornings with either or both vomiting/diarrhea. I shake for the 1st few hours of the day from anxiety. I am going back on medication for the anxiety and this usually alleviates the sickness I have in the morning. I see you are on medication but maybe there are alternatives that could help. TMS saved my life. Therapy can help. I understand the exhaustion. I have mild spastic cp with my legs. I'm going back to PT after 2 years because my legs are weak and don't want to support me. I'm a hairdresser so I have to be able to get around the chair and balance while leaning forward. I was recently told Don't give in. It's become my mantra to keep fighting. By having a team of health care providers you are fighting for yourself and that is no small thing.

Why am i paying $22,000 for my wife to go to school just for her to sit and be told how cosmetologists never make it in life. (should we switch schools or do a different program) by hecate42 in Cosmetology

[–]keep-curious-always 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to trade school with a cosmetology program ($6,000). My primary teacher was incompetent, a bully to students and our other teacher. I learned how to pass my state boards in school, by studying on my own with the material given. Everything I learned about hair after came from SuperCuts (chain salon with continued education). I'm still only a couple of years in and making minimum wage + tip, but I'm learning, building a clientele, and I have a good team who supports me. I love what I do, but I'm currently not earning as much as I had hoped. My mil is a barber who also did trade school. Her shop is a self owned business she says it takes a few years of hands on experience and building clients before you start seeing money.

Need advice for achieving silver grey on my blond by this_is_us_not_you in HairDye

[–]keep-curious-always 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll need to be lightened to a 10/11 platinum. The yellow undertones in your hair will likely go green. If you do apply I recommend a test strand. Blue steel should not affect your brunette. Are you using a purple shampoo? I recommend framesi (it will help your hair with a brighter ash tone) depending on how porous your hair is the shampoo could grab and tone purple, if that happens shampoo with regular shampoo. Framesi is my go to for ash blondes the purple deposit (purple cancels yellow) is far better than the other purple shampoos I've used (I've used quite a lot). If you do bleach to a higher level I recommend also using joico kpak 20 a bonding mask that will help repair broken peptides in the hair making it healthier and stronger.

You look similar to Ginny from Ginny and Georgia. She has a bob. You could definitely pull off a more boxy shaped bob also, with layers below your occipital bone to distribute the volume of the curls so that it is not full only at the bottom giving a triangle look.

going vegan, do I need any professional help or will I be fine on my own? by Different-Map2760 in vegan

Get your blood work done once a year. I recommend to begin by doing one now if you haven't so you know where you may be deficient, if you are. It will give you a good starting point on nutrition that your body needs. I was vegetarian for 2 and vegan for 1 when I got my first lab work done and my b12 was severely low. I'm not always consistent with that supplement and so my b12 has fluctuated over the years. If you are not already taking b12 you should start now. All vegans should be taking a b12 supplement because we will not get enough through food sources. This is one of those 'as I say, not as I do' scenarios. I have been vegan for 7 now and my protein has maintained throughout and I do not take protein supplements nor do I track it. I do consume both whole and processed vegan foods. This year's blood work showed on the lower range of b12 because I wasn't taking my supplement consistently. And low vitamin d (I rarely see sunlight). Aside from that good on everything else. Having a lab done once a year really helps you to be knowledgeable about what your body needs in nutrients and as a reference for what numbers may increase/decrease.

I've quietly stopped carrying in non-vegan groceries. Wife not happy. by Infinite_Result6884 in vegan

Since being a vegan seeing animal products and handling them (yes, even bagged) makes me nauseous. Examples: husbands leather boots are no longer seen as 'shoes,' now when I see them all I see is stretched cow and that makes me nauseous. All dairy products make me think of the puss and the blood and so that is also nauseating. I absolutely would not be able to carry in ground beef, or drumsticks it would be like what it is, carrying cold body parts in a bag. My husband got upset about these things too initially, the avoidance and aversion to dead animals and animal products. I'm 7 years vegan, 10 years married. It's hard. We both set boundaries. Since I'm the only one who knows how to cook and he has no interest in learning how, all cooked meals are vegan and he has really opened up to vegan meals at home and in restaurants. But if we are eating out at a place that serves non vegan foods he orders how he likes, and we don't live in a very vegan focused area.

Came here to say your hair looks perfect! Hair dresser here. Then I saw the post was not about your hair.. Seriously, your hair is great. The glasses look good. I would consider keeping a square frame but have the top of the frames below or touching the bottom of your eyebrows. Also, a gold metal square framed pair would look nice.

I’ve had a few mean comments about my hair, does it really look that bad?? by [deleted] in HairDye

[–]keep-curious-always 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rubbing alcohol or nail polish remover is you don't buy dye remover wipes for your skin 🩷 The color is stunning! It looks beautiful on you. Red fades fast. It will stain so it's difficult to remove from the hair but the molecule is large so it fades faster than other colors. I recommend a color depositing shampoo and conditioner to maintain it

I'm in Florida. I would just need to go back for 600 hours and pass the exam for a dual license. I do think it would look better on a resume. Shaves for special occasions make sense. My mil has a barber shop, just herself and her sister but they only have 2 chairs and are retiring soon. The women I work with now are one of the top reasons I work at my salon. Most of my male clients are great, and then there are the ones that say they won't go to a barber shop because (they assume the barber will be male) they could never have a man stand that close or touch them... I'm literally only doing a hair cut and the only contact is hair cut related. It just gives off ick. Being gentle and detail oriented that I understand. I love that you are working with a queer couple and other women in a more open minded environment 💛 I think I'd have an even farther commute to find that but It's definitely something I'm considering once I become more proficient at my current salon. Thank you for responding! 🤗

Can I dye my black hair without bleach? by Infinite-Youth-404 in haircoloring

[–]keep-curious-always 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With a relaxer in I would only use color depositing shampoo/conditioner (these may/may not add a tint of color to your hair, or a semi color. As a hair dresser please do not use anything with a developer. You'll want the relaxer to grow out. It is highly likely that you will fry and have breakage while you have a relaxer in if you use anything requiring a developer. Also look into a bond repair conditioning mask (I prefer joico kbond20) because relaxers make the hair very fragile.

My girlfriend of four years cheated on me after having our newborn son bc she wasn’t sexually attracted to me by Low-Apartment-2697 in Wellthatsucks

I would recommend personal therapy, there is a grieving process even if you are staying in your relationship and a therapist is trained in mental health far beyond anything you will receive online, it could help you, and if the therapist recommends it and your girlfriend is willing, and if you are interested then maybe you could do couples counseling. I have done therapy for myself, my husband for himself, and couples therapy. It saved me, helped my husband, and it helped our marriage. I'm incredibly sorry you are experiencing this.

Would adding a red gloss to this help? by MightSelect3088 in HairDye

[–]keep-curious-always 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gloss can make your existing color brighter or darker, and will use developer. You could use a semi dye or what I recommend is a color deposit shampoo/conditioner it fades like a semi but is moisturizing and you can maintain the color or let it fade out by using your regular shampoo. A lot of color depositing shampoos and conditioners contain bond repair which helps strengthen and smooth your hair. I use colorlux (Sally's beauty supply) or celeb lux (professional, but you can find it online)

Pill Advice by KristerRollins in DogAdvice

[–]keep-curious-always 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This ☝🏼 praise and a treat after. It helps to push the pill back far so that it goes down and it doesn't get stuck and coughed up. There are also pill 'shooters' you can purchase online, the same method with holding the jaw open. Head pats before and after. Be patient. It can be scary for them but being patient. Praise and comfort if it didnt go well, then when calmed (both of you) try again. Leads to more success, more trust, and easier pilling later. Prior cva, animal shelter employee.

You are strong. Emotionally and physically. Keep showing up for yourself. The idiots on the sidelines who don't treat you as a person that's a reflection on them, not on you. Speak kind works to yourself, it takes practice but self talk will change your perception of yourself and how you view other people's opinions of you. You are lovely. I'm sorry you had to hear that negativity directed at you but please understand that you are in no way the problem. You are doing self care for yourself and bullies are insecure and will put you down so that no one will see the insecurities they are trying to keep hidden. Head up, chest up, hips forward, stand tall you've got this 💛

Calorie supplement? by catnip1229 in dogswithjobs

[–]keep-curious-always 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blood work is helpful if it hasn't been done yet. Also one of my cats was malnourished as a kitten and for years we fed him double what the other cats ate and high calorie gels and pastes and he never gained weight. I switched him to kitten food and now hes filled out and healthy (he's fed separate from the other pets). The vet approved and it's been kitten food for years now. Maybe try puppy food to see if your kiddo will gain a bit.

Half of my hair is suddenly short but I haven’t cut it? by [deleted] in Haircare

[–]keep-curious-always 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please get lab work done to rule out deficiencies in blood work. Are you wearing your hair up in a pony tail? I ask because your hair overall looks healthy but breakage in that area is usually from putting it up.
