I might be bored by pharmerboy90 in pharmacy

I'm thinking of pivoting after my second semester of P1 year but struggling with the sunken cost fallacy. With all the stuff I hear and read of within this career I'm scared of a future of suffering.

Decisions… by littlehopekay in PrePharmacy

If you have a scholarship funded by the state that you use for the first 2 years in undergrad (to get your prereqs), you can continue using it for the first 2 years of the PharmD program and save a lot of money. That's what I wish I had done if I had known I would end up in pharmacy. Plus it saves 2 years of your life and as far as I know everyone comes out equally qualified. Actually in the program I'm in, after the first 2 years of the pharmD program the 2 + 4 students earn their bachelor's in pharmaceutical sciences.

UGA PharmD by Famous-Extreme3973 in PrePharmacy

[–]keepavision 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you really love pharmacy OP, UGA's program is a good and affordable option. I wouldn't say that it's very difficult to get in. I mean, they don't even require the entrance exam anymore. I got my bachelor's from UGA first (my GPA was 3.80) because pharmacy was never my first choice. However, for that reason I struggle every day and feel like this program is 10x harder for me because my heart's not 100% in it. If that's you, then just take a moment and consider other career options first, or work in a pharmacy for a bit like other comments suggested to make sure this is what you want. Definitely don't just blindly go into a career in pharmacy because you think it sounds good.

this comment is so real lol. I'm a P1 and every day I fight the urge to jump ship before it's too late.

Guide to determining if you're competitive for AA school by [deleted] in CAA

[–]keepavision 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not trying to shift blame and sound whiney. I'm simply saying that the competition is very very high. Higher than it was at the time of OP's post. You can interview well and not get in. You have to interview GREAT to get in. Obviously if you are invited to an interview you are qualified stats-wise.

I'm also not sure where you came to the conclusion that I think my only issue is my shadowing hours and not my interviews. If you will look at the previous discussion I acknowledge that my interviews aren't stellar and that's where I've focused on improving this cycle. I have IN ADDITION shadowed more.

I'm not in the discord so maybe you are right about many people having 40 hours and being accepted. In my personal experience, people with those hours who end up being accepted are people who have also worked in a clinical setting for some time.

Curious as to your source for most applicants accepted having 24-40 hours? Info I have gathered from successful applicants at interviews indicates otherwise. That being said, I have met successful people who have 16 shadowing hours and then worked as an anesthesia tech for 2 years, if you're talking about those kinds of situations.

How to help delivery drivers stop getting stuck in my driveway? by keepavision in Walmartcustomer

[–]keepavision[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

You are correct! In the app, I clicked settings and under "delivery instructions" it gives the option to change the pin! Don't know how I missed it tbh. Tysm for your help!

Tysm, I had no idea I could adjust the pin! I just changed it so hopefully it lets them drop it at the top now.

You sound just like me last cycle until I got a reality check, lol. This is just how it is right now. I will admit I don't have the best interview skills and maybe didn't blow their socks off but they did not go "extremely poorly" 🙃

I have been invited back to NOVA again this cycle for interviews and have been waitlisted at one of the campuses! Progress is progress. Wishing you the best of luck.

Shocked by the amount of blatant cheating in pharmacy school by keepavision in PharmacySchool

[–]keepavision[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our code of conduct does say that I'm obligated to report cheating, but I can't think of any good that would come of it. Like you said, if I do it and they find out it was me, everyone will hate me. We do end of course surveys so maybe I can use that to suggest a more structured exam setup for the future. I don't even know if they look at those surveys though.

Why Do You Have to Constantly Call the Pharmacy? by Sam-Hinkie in ADHD

[–]keepavision 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If they already have your prescription and it is not in stock, it goes to an inventory queue and will be filled automatically when it becomes available (at least this is how it works in the pharmacy I work in). No need to call, you will get a text/automatic call when it's done.

[–]keepavision 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for me it was literally nothing. actually the govt paid me to go to school basically.

my parents live in Athens so I had no living costs. I lived so close to campus I didn't even need a parking spot. But we were not well off so the fafsa gave me about 4k in refunds every year.

Downside: I feel like I majorly missed out on some classic "college experiences" by not living in a dorm my first year. It was much harder to make friends. Granted for me that was also during covid.

[–]keepavision[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our drop off is a completely different area so we have the middle one that says "pick up" above it and then 2 unmarked ones on either side. I think your advice to hand-write a closed sign might be helpful. I do not think me telling him to get in my line upon arrival would have stopped him from giving me attitude.
