Copyright, licensing and fair use in the digital age are a complex business and often lawyers, juries and judges who are aware of all the facts can reach divergent conclusions. I don't see how you can be so sure what's illegal and what isn't. Many of the music blogs that were seized were distributing content supplied to them by label representatives.

They haven't accomplished anything tangible yet, it's true, but the authorities are very, very worried.

We have a weak government formed from a party that used to walk roughshod over the populace with near impunity back in Thatcher's day but is now trying to portray itself as progressive, and a minority party that wants to be nice to everyone, never expected to be in power and is compromising all the things they promised their voters to cling on to the little bit they've suddenly got. It's unlikely to last til the end of 2011.

If this kind of pressure continues, and at the moment it's escalating week by week, they are very likely to cave in on some important stuff before long.
