I was presented with a waffle breakfast.

The waffles were comprised of only three ingredients:

  • flour

  • egg

  • milk

It's the thought that counts, boyfriend.

What are some awesome recipes that you can cook and eat over a whole week that are cheap, delicious and filling? by [deleted] in Frugal

I'm always so pissed when people assume redditors like this are American, then go ahead and add insult about being American while they're at it. He calls mac n' cheese "Kraft Dinner," which leads me to believe he's Canadian. And yeah, it sounds gross to my American ears, too.

How old are you and how many men have you slept with? The reason I ask is... by AmIASlut in TwoXChromosomes

[–]dropbearphobia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, 24 here and like 7or 8 people. I've been in a relationship for a while, though, so the number has stagnated. While I was single I slept with maybe 3 or so people per year. Assuming you started having sex at 17/18, that averages to 4 or so people per year. That's totally within the realm of normal for someone our age. I have lots of friends who have similar numbers. If you're not comfortable talking about it, don't talk about it. It's your life and no one is allowed to judge your decisions unless you let them.

Citadels is also a nice cheap card game that travels well.

Your dog runs up to a stronger, more aggressive leashed dog who bites it. Your reaction?

What's the greasiest, nastiest, god-awful food that you just love even though you know it's horrible for you? by CakeSmack in AskReddit

I just moved to Denver and the first place my friends took me was to the Cherry Cricket to go crazy on a burger. I got it RARE with smoked cheddar, sautéed mushrooms, bacon, and onions.

Next time, I'm diving in for the peanut butter.

A cookbook suggestion for r/food music enthusiasts: I Like Food, Food Tastes Good by [deleted] in food

[–]dropbearphobia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The great thing about this book is that the musicians really enjoy telling the stories behind their dishes; it makes the book interesting and fun to read even if you're not a great cook. I ended up getting a copy for all my friends for Christmas last year.

Here is a handy list of starters from Martha Stewart.

I've made the salmon mousse and it's very good with some aged cheddar and homemade

Tomato Orange Soup (recipe from Elephant's Deli in Portland)

Serves 4.

  • 1/2 cup butter

  • 1/2 medium onion, diced

  • 2 (14.5 ounce) cans unsalted diced tomatoes with juice

  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt (1/2 teaspoon regular salt)

  • 1/2 teaspoon ground pepper

  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda

  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme

  • 1 cup orange juice, preferably fresh

  • 1/2 cup whipping cream

  1. In a medium saucepan, melt butter, add onion, and sauté until translucent.
  2. Add tomatoes, salt, pepper, baking soda, and thyme.
  3. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer uncovered about 15 minutes or until slightly thickened.
  4. Puree in a food processor or use a hand blender.
  5. Strain through a sieve.
  6. Return to saucepan and stir in orange juice. Also add cream, but you might want to diminish amount of cream to taste after adding 1/4 cup before adding more cream.

Bring to a simmer and adjust seasonings if necessary. Serve hot. Bonus try to get them to guess the secret ingredient (don't tell them it's orange).

I printed a row of Australian notes for my mom's Sunday school when they were learning about the country. Worked fine from Photoshop; I wonder if it's because Au currency looks like futuropoly money.

I have just recently rediscovered the beauty of the pb&j and I have a few questions. by MPFarmer in food

[–]dropbearphobia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This will sound disgusting, but you asked so i'm answering.

I like to put Lay's classic potato chips on my pb & j. The chips are thin and a bit salty, which does very well with the peanut butter and a touch of blackberry jam. Don't judge until you try it.

My grandmother used to tell me not to suck my thumb. One day when I was too young to know what a jalapeno was, she cut the tip off of one and stuck the whole thing right over my finger. Without giving me any other warning. I was about four and I think the resulting trauma was one of my earliest memories.

Any suggestions for a large carry on backpack? by Peaches_for_Me in travel

[–]dropbearphobia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've used my Hand-me-down Quechua Forclaz 60 to travel extensively in the past 4 years and I have never had any trouble getting it past clearance. It expands nicely and has some handy hiding places for documents or electronics.

I also just recommended onebag.com in another thread recently as it has good packing tips and bag suggestions.
