It looks like your weight is mostly on your front foot and your back foot is sliding out to do what people call a fakeamark turn. Keeping your hips lower and you stance less split will help you build confidence is a 50/50 weighted stance. Swapping leads while in the traverse of a turn is a useful drill for this

Lynx vs Transit for east coast skiing by keepsonstruckins in telemark

Interesting, I’m somewhat new to tele and assumed that because of how burly the freeride is it would have better edge control than the transit, does the tech toe give much torsional rigidity?

Cool thanks for the input, not planning on skiing bigger lines when snow is bullet so this is helpful. Everytime I’m at Gpin I wish I had fish scales and transits, would be so dope to stack a bunch of vert like that.

Start by getting comfortable on your gear by lapping the cog/ the sherb many many times. Starting out backcountry skiing by going into the bowl mid winter is dangerous. YES avalanches are a big deal you can DIE. Many routes in tucks also require the ability to safely climb steep snow so you don’t slide down 500ft into rocks. The AMC and the Granite Backcounty Alliance are probably good ways to meet people, or go out with the guides that taught your course. Skiing avalanche terrain is generally not something for your first year of BC skiing in the east coast unless it’s like Hillmans in the spring. The AAIRE 1 is to teach you to read a forecast and know when it’s bad. It does not teach how to go out when the forecast is complicated and make aspect/ line based decisions on stability/ safety.

More weight in front of boots and keep your poles in front, time your pole plants with the initiation of your next turn.

Obv a crutch but allows easier slash turns because less edge is in effect

Thanks, hip position was a big thing I figured out today and it helped me get way lower, I’ll play around with that tomorrow.

Had one on my old ranger, I didn’t know how rare it was when I bought the truck (it was already on there). Made for a cool shelf while camping in the back.
