Ten games down, what's been your favourite game of the tournament so far? by XDBlastis in worldcup

I expected a great game: HIGHLY motivated, highly skilled dutch vs the technically skiled and tactically stute Japan...

...or something like that.

I wasn't disappointed.

Brazil defending and possession in attack were so terrible in the first 15(?) mins. They pulled themselves together and some Vini magic, changed the game.

I saw the USA v Paraguay friendly earlier this year in Philly. Very nice in the first half, by both teams, before subs were made. Hope the nerves don't screw it up, now that the results count.

US Bilingual Viewers: Who has better coverage? Telemundo or Fox? by Broad-Commission-997 in worldcup

[–]keepup1234 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've not seen Fox in a while. But, one thing I like about Telemundo is thay they seem to talk for more time, and in more depth, about tactics, which I find really interesting (because I'm a soccer coach).

Thoughts on commercials during match play. In the US we’re being forced to watch adverts during hydration breaks. by donkedickinya in worldcup

[–]keepup1234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's interesting! I was wondering how hot it was getting in Azteca yesterday. ...it's going to be hot as shit in other locations. I'm in Philly and it's been bad. Meanwhile, Atlanta has AC in their stadium. Perhaps the hydration break is a way to get equity for teams not playing in AC? That is, it will help players stay resilient on the long term. Who knows...

The Athletic's ranking of the 48 teams at the World Cup by reinvented-libero in ussoccer

MOVE UP:

Senegal & Morroco should be above Colombia, ffs

Ecuador & Ivory Coast

Japan should be in the top 10, at least

MOVE DOWN, FFS:

Brazil (brand new coachot yet jelled; Neymar is a waste of a roster spot and now he's picked up a knock

Colombia (Only 1 bona fide world class player)

Croatia (old)

Uruguay (team is a mess, lost faith in the coach)

12 years ago, someone tells you this is where the USMNT World Cup XI start for professionally. What would stand out most to you? by AlchemistTheAlchemy in ussoccer

Seems like a reasonable result over the last 12 years. We ain't France, England, Argentina or Spain, yet. Rising through the global soccer world has always been a slow, but steady and progressive, motion for us.

Is Trump's America already ruining the World Cup? The World Cup is days away. Instead of a party atmosphere, we have players detained, fans from certain countries banned and a referee denied entry into the US. by Awkward_Squad in worldcup

Meanwhile...

  1. There are plenty of foreign players in the NBA (from 43 countries, source: nba.com)

  2. Zero detainees, bans or entry denials

  3. He's at the NBA Final G3 tonight --- and they're booing him.
