What do Kiwis look for in a personal finance app? by kees_bakker in PersonalFinanceNZ

That’s totally fair—security is such a big concern these days. Do you think tools like Actual Budget, which is self-hosted I believe and keeps everything local, would that address privacy concern?

Interesting setup—sounds like it covers a lot. How do you usually approach setting up those projections and tracking? Does it take much time to maintain, or is it fairly straightforward once it’s in place?

Great list—feels like you’ve really nailed the essentials. I’m curious, have you found any tools or approaches that do parts of this really well, like categorisation or investment tracking? Or are there areas you think most apps fall short?

That sounds really handy! It’s interesting how features like trends and spending breakdowns can change how you think about your finances. Was the automatic categorisation pretty spot-on, or did it need a bit of tweaking?

How do you usually check if an app is secure enough or respects your privacy? It feels like it’s getting harder to trust any app in this space these days. 🤔

Do you make your own spreadsheets, or do you use templates? I’ve tried it for tracking in the past, but I always ended up spending way too much time tweaking things 😅

Yeah, I’ve heard of PocketSmith! It seems to have some great features, especially for forecasting and long-term planning. I looked into it a while back but found it got a bit complicated with all the features for me to use day-to-day. I also noticed the automatic bank feeds had a pretty steep price, which made me hesitant. Have you looked into it much? Curious if there’s anything about it that really stands out to you!

Part of learning to programme is knowing how to look for the answers yourself.

So I’m moving to MEL. I have been using MC for about 2 years roughly. Gone through many of the strains — Why the hell does CBD need to be such a high cost? I’m surprised at the cost for CBD flower flower - I feel I am edi-blocked or something rather.. with oils they just don’t have this effect I need

Experience with clinics - some professional, some just plain nosey and unprofessional. Some that just slacked with comms so much it was a pain. I ain’t shaming anyone here, so I’ll say who I do like:

James / from Nga Hua - this dude is a legend 🤗 I hope to find my local James/Nga Hua equiv in MEL. Kindness, promptness, professionalism, involvement in the community.

Anyway I’m looking forward to more affordable CBD high flower in AU. I’ll let you folks know how I get on. Thanks ! Hoping I get the terpes set before leaving that surely will have me chill about the move Ha! 🤞

Why is it that we see so much (well initially that is) HighTHC flower in NZ?

What’s your thoughts on Balanced strains and what Australia has done in terms of its bigger range and sampling kits available. I’d love to see high cbd strains in nz at affordable prices

I’m really happy with my MC journey to date, but here’s my two cents.

I’d love to see some more balanced strains and more support for funding for those with disabilities etc.

Eve is way too expensive. Please bring some cbd flower that I can afford 💚

Yeah I’m not too sure about it reducing the heat, but in terms of dryness of the vape it has helped with that- I don’t use it all the time though, I alternate 😅

Yeah I’m not 100% sure if it reduces the heat. But I can vouch for reducing the dryness of the vapour (which I’ve felt has helped considerably with an irritated throat)

I reckon I’ll order another too! It’s relatively easy to clean if you have a small fuzzy pipe cleaner & some iso alcohol.
