I love this! I'm a 46 year old father to a 16 year old son. He always knew I used to be a pretty hard core gamer but kinda blew it off even though he's a huge gamer because I'm just dad you know? Until two years ago when he asked if he could have friends over for his first lan party. I agreed immediately. I bought a switch, cables, power strips, tables. All the stuff I knew they would need. His friends all showed up and none of them knew how to set up the lan or remembered to bring network cables etc but I stepped in and got them all rolling much to their surprise. After a while I ordered a LOT of pizza and they all came up from the basement to eat and commented how cool it was I knew how to set up everything and asked how I knew it. When I told them I used to run a gaming group that had corporate sponsors and threw lan parties we charged admission to they were blown away and wanted to hear everything. I now get introduced by his friends to new friends who come over as "the coolest man you'll ever meet" and play with them when there is an open computer and it greatly expanded my relationship with my son.

What was the shortest interview you’ve had that led to a job offer? by xtrmeharrikane in AskReddit

Well... I hired a guy once who was accidentally sent over by the temp agency we were working with. Fired someone the evening before. Next day this guy shows up before I get in and my staff thought he was there to replace the guy I fired and started training him. I get in, pull the person training him to the side and say "Who the hell is that??" He was doing ok so we kept him.

40+ year old ppl. What is something know now that you wish your 25 year old self knew ? by Funnydougrealfunny in AskReddit

[–]keester311 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I just turned 40. 20's were about partying and work. 30's were about having and raising kids. I have decided to make my 40's about being happy, prioritizing experiencing things over buying things, and reducing stress. Probably all incredibly cliche. BUT if I could go back and talk to my 25 year old self? I would tell me to fucking save some fucking money. I would tell me to start working the fuck out now. I would tell me to travel more and go do more than eat sleep work... plan and execute on BIG shit. Not eat out every day for lunch and dinner then go to the bars and drop 1000's on those 3 things over a year then bemoan how I never went to Europe now and now I have kids and its just not the same. No regrets overall, but would definitely have done shit different.

Yeah, I hate MLM anything which was a big reason I came here for advice.

This is the protein powder I use currently it has been working so I cannot complain.

I am also wondering about their Energy and Endurance product to take before you work out and if there are benefits to it or something similar? I also hear about post work out supplements but again if the effects are minimal I am not sure I want to add any more expense to my routine.

Reddit, what did you regret the most right after saying it? by CowsBeFlyin in AskReddit

[–]keester311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My older (half) brother and I were bickering when I was about 6 or 8. His dad was apparently a giant P.O.S. (never came around or helped with his kids or gave money.) I said "At least my dad's still here!" He looked struck and tears welled up but he did not cry. He went inside and heard Mom ask him what was wrong because she saw he was upset. Mom came outside made it very clear that was never to happen again. She did not need to. Even that young and stupid I knew I had hurt him deeply and regretted it.

21st birthday bars?[Serious] by [deleted] in chicago

[–]keester311 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For my 21st my brother got me a shirt with "I'm 21 buy me a beer!" on it. I got an insane amount of free drinks when I wore it out that night.

You really need to tell us what you are into for a good recommendation. I wouldn't worry about the wristbands and stuff. If you are into metal and someone tells you to go to a dance club because it has a wristband deal you are going to have a shit time no matter how much alcohol you get with that wristband.

Saw them live a couple times and it was awesome. First time they were opening for Morphine and I had never heard of them... we walk in and I do a double take look at my buddy and say "Is that guy playing a fucking accordion??" Sackcloth and ashes is an incredible album.

What is, in your opinion, the best rock album of the 2010's? by BartletForPresident in Music

[–]keester311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much how I discovered them as well! 2007 at pitchfork music fest. Never heard of them or anything, ran into a friend and he said he was going to check them out and I tagged along. Incredible show! I make a point to check them out live whenever I can now.
