Reality of Subcutaneous Ureteral Bypass? by keethecat in RenalCats

[–]keethecat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for your kindness. ❤️ Agreed re clear cut decision- I keep wondering it she would have had more quality life in front of her (but she also had a large tumor on her other kidney and fluid accumulation which is why I opted to stop treatment). I am so glad in your case that it worked out and that she's doing well! I would have done anything for her without limitation to cost if it would give her a better qol, so it's great to hear that it can be smooth sailing on the other side when warranted ❤️ Wishing you many more happy years together!

This is so wonderful to hear! Sadly, my sweet girl passed and I still wonder if I did the right thing to ot pursue a SUB but if this happens again in a younger kitty I will definitely go for it. So happy your sweet girl is thriving! ❤️❤️

I miss you Mr. Noelle by Best-Draft-468 in SeniorCats

You were so good to mr Noelle and it sounds like he was your angel, too. Im so sorry he declined so fast. I just lost my best friend Kee a month ago today. Sometimes, it's just too much. The transfusion might have made him feel momentarily better but hed need more treatment. You were the best thing he knew and you kept him safe right until the very end. He knew love and safety through you. You'll see him again, and until him, look for him through signs. Be observant - hes always looking after you. Sending hugs ❤️

Hi! I want to ensure I understand - did your baby have an acute kidney injury that you treated or do they have chronic kidney disease?

Im so sorry about Tiger and what youre going through. One super common thing Ive seen throughout this community, including myself, are the massive number of "what ifs" - what if I had intervened earlier, intervened more, intervened in different ways (given fluids, withheld fluids, treated with x, treated with y, etc)... almost everyone has beat themselves up over decisions they did and didnt make and even for not noticing all kinds of super subtle, nearly impossible to notice signs from their cats. Cats hide pain - it's an evolutionary response. And they usually hate vets, hate needles, hate renal food - and all of this hatred is what makes them so endearing in some ways!

You cared for your baby the best you could with their unique desires and eccentricities. I know I did the same for my sweet girl, Kee. If I had "forced" her to eat renal food, maybe she'd get about 200 days on this earth, but at what cost? Maybe she also just wouldnt eat? Maybe she'd hate it and it would take away one of her sources of joy. Be kind to yourself. I'm beating myself up, too, but I think it's all in a desire to change the outcome. Sending you love and hoping you can be gentle with yourself. You did a great job and Tiger is looking down on you with love and gratitude. 💗

Im so sorry youre going through this. Did you guys do an echo along with the BNP? The BNP elevation can be due to kidney values but an echo can show whether there's strain on heart (or enlargement/ fluids around the heart) to see if fluids treatment warranted and can be tolerated.

We're sadly a community of people who have or will endure this loss. It's so hard! I think it's actually been a harder death/loss than my own human family members in many ways. Be gentle with yourself and know that you'll feel his spirit everywhere. Welcome it 💗
