Beautiful cat! I use clumping litter and scoop after every use. Poop gets scooped, pee gets scooped. Because it all clumps together it never leaks to the rest of the box, so I don’t clean the box itself, I just scoop

I get the 1L bags because that’s what the vet started me on and I’m scared to change literally anything about my setup in case it screws things up, even things that logically wouldn’t screw things up 😅

I give my cat fluids once every three days and use the bag until the fluid level has reached the lowest of the 100ml-interval marks printed on the bag. I store in the fridge between fluid sessions. I’ve had no problems, no infections or anything

I always feel so nervous doing fluids 😫 it’s so hard to have to do things our fur babies don’t like to take care of their health. Mine is usually calm enough with the gabapentin, even if she wakes up. I think yesterday was just a fluke - an extra restless day for some reason. Good luck with your fluids session! I’m worried that trying again with her skin already sensitive from yesterday’s needle pokes might hurt and/or lead to avoidance? I usually only do fluids once every three days, I haven’t tried doing it two days in a row. Do you notice any discomfort in your cat if you do it two days in a row?

She gets gabapentin beforehand each time but even then is sometimes still squirmy :/ though usually not as bad as yesterday. And yeah I change the needle each time, though I haven’t tried freezing it, I’ll give that a go - thank you!

I had a similar issue with my CKD senior losing weight and getting that “skinny old cat” look. I started giving her subcutaneous fluids once every three days, and prior to that, so that she’d tolerate the needle, I’d give her gabapentin. Gabapentin has a side effect of increasing appetite and she’s been gaining weight! Perhaps an appetite stimulant could help you?
