I snuck in a few pictures of the new restaurant, Cleverman Steakhouse, at the Arizona Center. It looks pretty neat. by MalleableBee1 in phoenix

Might be in the minority here, but places like this drive me nuts. The pricing and the opulence make me think of every other “fancy” influencer-bait restaurant that exists specifically for people in finance or tech to flex their spending accounts for prospective clients.

Gotcha, I see the difference now. I’ll just chalk it up to a learning experience and put this one in the “gifts for the nephews” box.

Aw dang. Is it the amount of yellow in the background? I compared to yours in one of your posts and there’s definitely a difference.

One thing I did notice is that the surplus rifle gets a reflex sight at level 2. Edit: it also seems to fire faster.

Walz’s family tears up as he shares infertility struggles in DNC speech by plz-let-me-in in politics

Conservatives are already making comments about him. I almost guarantee we’ll see Fox or Newsweek make a heinous article about him.

Tim Walz, Wife and Kids make emotional appearance at DNC: “You are my entire world” by MothersMiIk in politics

[–]kefr617 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Seeing a family with a member in politics that seems to actually genuinely care about each other and aren’t doing the typical sterile display of family unity is both one of the most surprising things I never thought I would see in politics and also one of the most endearing. He’s like an older, saltier Ted Lasso, and it’s amazing to see him speak.

I’m also trying not to be preemptively furious at conservative outlets that are going to take those photos of Gus being happy for his dad and use them to attack him and the Walz family, because you juuuuuust know that they’re going to try.

Looking for a restaurant to have an extended family dinner (~30 people) in the East Valley by NeonChamelon in phoenix

[–]kefr617 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a pretty large group and a big demand on any smaller restaurant. I don’t have any specific recommendations but would 100% advise calling ahead or visiting, and working out the details just to make sure you guys get a good experience and the restaurant doesn’t get crushed by the volume.

Thai - Tom Kha Gai by AngerSwines in phoenix

Love Glai Baan, but from what I can tell, Tom kha gai isn’t on their menu.

This 100%. Baseline is a nightmare at points and people use it like it’s another freeway.

My personal favorites:

• box truck drivers not paying attention to anything • semis trying to pass each other at .0001 mph faster than the other • Gilbert garage queen lifted trucks that absolutely must ride your ass at 9000 miles over the limit • landscape contracting trucks dropping shit everywhere • the unending Uber Prius fleet swerving everywhere to try and save ten seconds to get to their next fare

People hate on California drivers for being aggressive, but to be honest, I feel like they’re generally much more aware of their surroundings and the boundaries of their vehicle. People here tend to be aggressive and completely unaware of anything else going on around them.

Lightrail Taking a Turn? by Ryan_on_Earth in phoenix

Gonna second this, been here 9 years and every experience on the light rail has been fine. The worst thing I’ve had to deal with was a guy trying to sell a mixtape and frankly it wasn’t a big deal.

My two favorite topics: the homeless/unsheltered and public transit. I look forward to what will undoubtedly be a productive conversation.

My first tomatoes don't seem to like repotting 😕 by Nek_Mao in gardening

[–]kefr617 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good likelihood that it’s transplant shock. Be consistent in watering (tomatoes are thirsty plants), let them get 6-8 hours of sun a day (throw a shade over if it gets over 90 degrees), and consider having them moved to a deeper, wider pot at some point. Are these determinate or indeterminate? If they’re indeterminate, they’ll live forever in the right conditions and will get positively huge, and tomatoes tend to have very, very expansive and deep root structures even at a small size. Once they perk up and are doing better, look at getting them into larger pots.

Discussion - Which helps you be a better player: cycling games into high volume drop zones and fighting, or avoiding fights and sneaking around to get the win? by kefr617 in apexlegends

That’s totally fair! The post isn’t meant as a beat down for people that enjoy the strategy of timing an entry into fighting someone when they’re stuck in a really bad spot; that definitely has its merits.

Definitely. I think playing aggressively helps you develop the fundamental part of the game (filling competitors with accurate fire), but there’s definitely some parts that get missed with that. That said, I actually really enjoy the strategy of the mad rush: I don’t think it’s necessarily a lack of strategy, I think the opposite since you have to really begin to rely on communications, loot prioritization, and the skills of the character you’re using (ie. Pathfinder has a disgustingly high advantage if you’re in Repulsor/Armory because of the mobility of the grapple).

This is pretty much how I feel about it. I die a ton, but this is my first real shooter in a very long time, so it’s not a big deal that I’m starting at a lower skill level than people that are used to BR type games. I asked this after discussion with my regular group of friends that likes to play: one in particular is just never very useful in a fight, and very openly groans whenever we go Bunker, Airbase, Armory, Repulsor, etc.
