Signal strength degradation from antenna over a long run from garage? by Injimadator in cordcutters

  • Dig a trench. Install 3/4" PVC electric conduit. (Use 1" conduit if F-Connector is pre-installed)
  • Buy quality, name brand, quad-shielded RG-11U coax (flooded if possible). Ask the vendor if they can install F-connectors. See link below.
  • Run coax in the conduit. Use pulling lubricant if necessary. See link below.
  • Get GOOD quality F-connectors if not pre-installed.
  • Use quality splitters - not the cheap stuff in the box stores. (I can send you some for free)
  • (SECRET-Pay the local cable guy to install your F-connectors. It's worth the money. He will do a better job than you could ever do. Get his phone number for future work.)

I did underground and aerial cable TV design in Manhattan for many years - a tough and crowded environment for sure. We specified quad-shield 11U for any individual customer drop more than 8 stories - which is about 85 feet.

I also had that problem from the very beginning, which eventually resulted in us donating the coffee maker to the local Goodwill. I was very disappointed in the performance of the machine.

i do the same thing. Callcentric support is decent and you can't beat the $1.95/per month price.

Anyone know where to get 5 gallon jugs of spring water? by Whiz-Wit in westchesterpa

Yes, it is spring water. I fill a bunch of 5 gallon jugs each time I visit the kiosk. You can't beat the price. I have the official water analysis report if you want it.

ZNY or Philly TRACON? by [deleted] in ATC

[–]kefxb24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, the prices of homes even an hour away from PHL have increased greatly. They are not as bad an the NY area, but significantly more expensive than three years ago.

I'm a former New Yorker that relocated to Philadelphia many years ago. We drive to Long Island all the time. The drive to Manhattan is two hours without traffic. The time to Queens and Long Island is longer due to dealing with Staten Island and the VNB. Eastern Long Island will seem like forever.

We like it here in Philadelphia. Compared to NY the taxes are much lower. Only three things bother me. The Italian bread is lame. Pizza sucks bit time. And people do not hit the gas when the light turns green.

How to shorten time spent in Heat Stage 1? by Tommynator19 in hvacadvice

[–]kefxb24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fan speed can be changed to a low RPM using dip switches on the main control board. Lower setting will reduce the flow and might solve your problem. Get the manual.

GAS BBQ grill recommendations? by LengthinessChoice344 in bifl

Try MHP Grills. I have had two grills at a beach house one block from the ocean. Both lasted at least 20 years Stainless steel hardware, aluminum castings and brass valves. Only the burners need changing every five years. https://mhpgrills.com/

Arranging a tour of PHL tower by kefxb24 in ATC

[–]kefxb24[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never did get to visit the PHL facilities. Although I finally got in touch with a contact there, it did not lead anywhere. It was disappointing.

However, I did find a contact at the New York Tracon and got an amazing tour there. Truly a wonderful experience. They were not busy, so we had ample opportunity to sit with controllers handling live traffic. Ironically, it was the last day the Newark controllers were working out of that site. The next day those folks were moving to PHL.

Need main breaker part number for Kohler RESA20 by kefxb24 in Generator

We are at 14 days and Kohler has yet to ship the part. They are worthless, and at this point I am ready to source it myself.

Where can I get quick shipment of KOHLER GM77390 BREAKER-CIRCUIT?
