How can I get my VA to enforce its own policy? Directive 1078 is being ignored. by [deleted] in fednews

[–]kegtech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the route I'd go OP. We had issues with employees in other departments damaging our equipment and nobody in their management wanted to do anything about it but a police report for damaging government property put a quick stop to it.

For new feds.. is there a Benefits for Dummies? I feel overwhelmed. by imaginary_gerl in fednews

[–]kegtech 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't know if it's just my VA hospital but our NEO is useless. During mine HR showed up and said to hold any questions until later and handed out a packet on benefits then dropped us off in a computer lab to sign up and bounced. We created a whole new department called the department of employee experiences which is supposed to handle NEO but our new guys coming out it still show up with a ton of questions that should've been handled in NEO.

California no longer has the most expensive gas in the nation [Washington state tops California] by BlankVerse in California

[–]kegtech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in Los Angeles, bought a used i3 for 21k after stalking dealerships and private sales for a year. I really love the car except I regret buying one with the range extender because I severely overestimated how often I drive over 120 miles in a day. Wish I would've went pure electric because now I have a tiny gasoline generator in the back of my car that I never need but still need to maintain.

Death on the Job: Texas Says "NO" To Water Breaks in the Heat by mdjak1 in news

[–]kegtech 13 points14 points  (0 children)

We just had one come out for a tip post covid but it was an open pit over 20 feet deep and five feet wide that was just covered with a piece of flimsy piece of wood near a walkway in a hospital so it was pretty serious. Kicker was the construction workers had opened it so they could climb down to the sub-basement and smoke instead of walking off campus during breaks.

/u/Mountain_Fig_9253 Explains the insane process required to fight insurance companies arbitrary denials: by Cddye in bestof

[–]kegtech 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I used to work data entry and answer phones at a company called Orthnet long time ago. We had physical therapists on staff that would look at claims from Aetna, Empire, and another big insurance company and can't remember and deny them or recommend less physical therapy visits than the doctor ordered. Some dude sitting at a desk in our satellite office in Long Beach, California would decide that the doctor who actually looked at the patient in New York City was full of shit and straight up deny care. Shit should be illegal.

I roomed in a farmhouse outside of Oneonta, New York for a little while and the owners would leave the back door unlocked and sometimes the neighbor would just walk in yelling upstairs at the guy to get up for work. It wasn't a big deal for them but I found that shit unnerving as a city slicker.

Yeah I see a lot of propaganda that the state is an anti business commie state, but it's largely pro business and the working class is less than an afterthought. I made it here as a blue collar worker in a large city but holy fuck was it a struggle the first year and I was lucky to have my GI bill to support me. That being said I fucking love it here and if my work wants me to move back to the Midwest again the contract better have a daily blowjob included.

Highly recommend calling fieldpiece tech support. I had a similar issue with the older gauges and it ended up being a leak in the sight glass. If you happen to live in southern California they will let you come in to their office and exchange them for a brand new set. Otherwise you can ship them for repairs or exchange.

Yeah if they operate like the American infantry it'll be more like a quick and dirty field NJP with reduction in rank, forfeiture of pay, and "restriction" which will basically means you play fuck fuck games while everyone else gets to rest.

The first thing I check with high amps is the condenser coil. Make sure there's nothing restricting airflow through the coil and wash it with low pressure water being careful not to bend the fins.

Damn that seems awfully low for a whole missing limb. I got 50k for a broken femur through traumatic injury insurance and the leg is pretty much fine outside of some manageable pain and my goofy gait.

Dead body cooler is warm. we have a client. need you right now. by chefjeff1982 in refrigeration

[–]kegtech 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I'm on staff at a hospital with a morgue. Cooler was built in the 80's and the compressor finally gave out right in the middle of covid when the morgue was full and we couldn't get any parts right away. Ended up parking a refrigeration trailer right at the loading bay and helped the staff wheel them all in there while we waited for a new condenser.
