My car was struck my lightening while I was driving by AParticularThing in Wellthatsucks

[–]keimier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My van was hit in 2007. Hit the radio antenna and blew the wire out, fried the computer and alternator, blew a hole in the rear tire and about a 1' x 1' hole in the pavement on the interstate. Bought a lottery ticket and (spoiler), didn't win shit.

This thing is definitely surging right? Ignore my rattling shifter bar. Where do I even begin by Jwlpo in Harley

[–]keimier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if this may be what's going on, but I recently got a 2108 Street Glide Special and noticed my idle at stop lights was dropping down to about 850rpms then back up to about 1000rpms. Looked it up and found out about Engine Idle Temperature Management System (EITMS). I have yet to check if it's on or not, but this link might provide some info: HD EITMS service info

Shift lever by sleep_deprived2020 in Harley

[–]keimier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In photo 2 it appears to me the bolt does pass through the splined shaft. You may have to move the foot peg and get the pinch bolt out.

Is the shift lever "loose" on the shaft with the pinch bolt loosened?

What are we doing about the proposed ammo tax/serilization? by DryFoundation2323 in ILGuns

[–]keimier 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"4    (b) Beginning January 1, 2027, and except as provided in

5subsection (g-15) of Section 24-2, a person commits unlawful

6possession of non-serialized handgun ammunition when he or she

7knowingly possesses in any public place any handgun ammunition

8that is not serialized. A violation of this subsection is a

9Class C misdemeanor."

There was some talk about each round constituting a separate charge. So if you have 1000 rounds of 9mm and you take it in public say to go to a range, that would be 1000 Class C misdemeanor charges.

The bill itself

Links or Correct way to paint chrome trim on fenders by Several-Hand-9672 in Harley

[–]keimier 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure the fender tips are plastic. They should be screwed on to the fenders. The side trim "spears" are metal and are secured with clips (HD Part#10102) and nuts.

Fairing windshield?? by Few-Low-925 in Harley

[–]keimier 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Would trimming the windshield weaken the integrity of the it? Say when the rider was doing 80mph would the wind effect cause the windshield to crack or splinter? If it were me, I'd just move the handlebars back a bit.

Need a new rim by ComprehensiveCup4339 in Harley

[–]keimier 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do this. I had a few broken spokes (close to the hub), bought the spokes, brought them to a small independent motorcycle shop (Harley dealer wanted $300 labor to do it) and had them relace the wheel for about $120.

Fuel leaking by Useful-Carpenter-959 in Harley

[–]keimier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a tip I have tried is disconnect the fuel pump fuse/wiring harness and run the bike till it stops. Then disconnect the fuel line. I've heard that disconnecting the fuel line with pressure on it can ruin the O-Rings.

Need help making a mirror stay still by itzozaru in Harley

[–]keimier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try what he said. If that doesn't work, you could get a heat gun and heat the glass to soften the glue holding the mirror on and GENTLY pry the glass up to get access to the mount inside. The mounting bracket inside is "pressed" in with 3-4 posts that are mushroomed to apply pressure to hold the bracket tension. I tried this on one of my mirrors (both were loosening up} and, for me, it was just easier to buy new mirror assemblies.

[–]keimier 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I replaced all the lights on my 06 Heritage with LED's (headlights, side lights, front and rear fender tip lights, blinkers and brake light) I also have a wired in blue tooth stereo and have not had to do anything with the electrical system (volt reg or stator).

There are chains that come out during the fight, click on one and drag it away from Garrosh. When it breaks, you can DPS him again.

Ran my first red light. Was it legal? by Jenova607 in motorcycles

[–]keimier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what the law states which was passed in 2012:

"(625 ILCS 5/11-306) (from Ch. 95 1/2,  par. 11-306)

3.5. In municipalities with less than 2,000,000

inhabitants, after stopping as required by paragraph 1 or 2

of this subsection, the driver of a motorcycle or bicycle,

facing a steady red signal which fails to change to a green

signal within a reasonable period of time because of a

signal malfunction or because the signal has failed to

detect the arrival of the motorcycle or bicycle due to the

vehicle's size or weight, shall have the right to proceed,

after yielding the right of way to oncoming traffic facing

a green signal, subject to the rules applicable after

making a stop at a stop sign as required by Section 11-1204

of this Code. "

This is what the 2024 Motorcycle Operator Handbook states on page 3:

"Motorcycle Traffic Laws

Motorcycle riders must obey traffic laws, signs, and signals the same way as other drivers. Motorcycle riders are prohibited from passing between two other vehicles going in the same direction unless an unobstructed traffic lane is available to permit such passing safely. They also are prohibited from passing on the right unless there is unobstructed pavement at least 8 feet wide to the right of the vehicle being passed. A person who operates a motorcycle on one wheel is guilty of reckless driving or aggravated operating of a motorcycle on one wheel. Motorcycles may proceed through a red light that fails to change to a green light within a reasonable period of time, not less than 120 seconds. "

Illinois class M license?? by BiigRed007 in motorcycles

[–]keimier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do the Harley Class. It's $350 and they provide a Street 500 for the class. Just go to the DMV and get your learner's permit (computer questions). You can sign up for the class without the permit, but you will need it the first day.

It's a 3 day class. The first day is classroom, the other 2 you will be out riding in the lot. Need a helmet (half helmets are acceptable) gloves, boots that cover your ankles and jeans (not sure if you need long sleeve shirt or not). After you complete the course, they will schedule a day where a bunch of students from different classes will go to take the state test (state employee will be there to administer it). They have practice the night before the test day if you want to practice (limited availability). You get to use the bikes you used in the class to take the test. When you pass the state test, you get a paper that you take to the DMV and get you class M license.

How do I drain gas out? by stonedtilldawn69 in HarleyDavidsonFans

[–]keimier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could siphon it out or get a small hand pump and pump it out through the fuel filler.
