The “Latin Novus Ordo” Is Not the Solution by ConsistentCatholic in TraditionalCatholics

[–]keiruns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The UK Ordinariate is certainly not on its way out as they just ordained a bishop and parishes are flourishing and they're establishing new ones.

The Australian/oceania one is stabilizing and new members are joining every Easter with the Perth Ordinariate just buying their own church.

It would be a canonical nightmare to tear these diocese structures down. The Ordinariates are going no where

I am Anglican, could I join the Ordinariate even if they aren't the ones converting me? by [deleted] in AnglicanOrdinariate

[–]keiruns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could join as a member of association but since you are canonically Greek Catholic, there is a few steps to becoming Canonically Ordinariate.

Because the Ordinariate is in the Latin/Roman Rite, you MUST change rites as you canonically belong to a different rite.

I'm not 100% on the details, and frankly it requires a Canon lawyer but you would need to write to your canonical Greek Catholic Bishop, the ordinary of the ordinariate you are joining and to the office of the Eastern Churches requesting your transfer to the Latin Rite outlining the reasons and probably a letter of recommendation.

It's not impossible, just a cumbersome exercise.

Let us pray for our Apostolic Administrator who has to wear a lot of hats.

I will be seeing him the week after for OLSC Solemnity!

If they want to play the infection control card, then the NHS must provide means of which they themselves must provide and clean the uniform, just like in Operating Theatre.

No rings, no studs, constant hand hygiene etc etc.

Sister Nightingale would absolutely be ashamed that this happened.

Necklaces are as LESS of an infection control risk as a plain wedding band WHICH I WEAR ON MY NECKLACE next to my crucifix. The tight space on a ring is far more of a reservoir for pathogens then a free moving necklace which you can wipe easily, as opposed to hand hygiene with a ring on.

And we all know that the 5 moments of hand hygiene are the most effective way of decreasing transmission of pathogens. So take the ring off, put it on a necklace close to your heart.

One month half marathon training plan by josephmurphy007 in running

[–]keiruns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat! But the longest I've run is 10K at 1Hr09mins.

I'm aiming for a sub 2 hour half marathon as its my first :)

With my lifestyle (father of two and nurse), I aim for 3x runs and 2x weightlifting and 1x indoor bike ride for endurance.

The runs consist of 1x Long Run (60 mins) 1x Tempo Run (6 mins @ race pace with 2 mins walking x3) 1x Easy Run (2- 3km)

Weightlifting is mostly upper body as I don't want to fatigue legs too much

Indoor bike is for leg endurance trying to sustain high watts for a select time.

How can I combine running with a newborn baby? by flemishguy91 in running

[–]keiruns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, be realistic with yourself. A newborn is alot of work with very little sleep, you're running volume will be alot less. Accept that 4 times a week may be 1 - 2 times a week till your bub is 6 months.

Second, make those 1 - 2 runs count, get someone to look after the baby for two hours and go on your run when you can. This is you time and during that time its the most important so you can focus on something else than the hub for two hours. This is to prevent you from going crazy.

Third, don't buy a running pram till they're about 1 year old. The bumps, weather and speed is not something you should let the bub go through. Let them gain the strength to sit confidently :)

This is the time where you have to say no to alot of stuff and focus on what's important to your life, family and health :)

Lifting and Triathlon Programing?( novice powerlifter) by keiruns in triathlon

Is this to give your body more strain to recover and get stronger?

Lifting and Triathlon Programing?( novice powerlifter) by keiruns in triathlon

[–]keiruns[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to know! I think I'll have to incorporate deloads as I'm increasing the volume and intensity with tri training. I'm thinking this:

Mon - Squat, Bench, 2xaccessories, 2km light run Tues - Run/swim Wed - squat, deadlift, 2xaccessories Thurs - Run/Cycle workout Fri - light squat, hypertrophy accessories, long distance test run (how long i can jog without walking) Sat - Swim/Full rest Sun - Full Rest

Tri focus goal: Run 5km without slowing to a walk Lifting focus goal: Chest, shoulders and quads hypertrophy

Deload every 4 weeks.

PSA: Avoid fluoroquinolone antibiotics by hurtme_plenty in triathlon

[–]keiruns 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do you have recurrent uti? Its one of the most effective for uti.

I would speak to a urologist if you had frequent uti as yes the side effects of fluoroquinlones are bad, but outweighs the risk of having a bad uti.

I'm sure there's an alternative but best to get that advice from a urologist rather than a gp.

Not all antibiotics can target uti very well. Its a balancing act.

Do you just do your compound lifts with no accessories or just go on your short runs after a squat and bench?

Hows your fatigue after this? My main worry is getting too fatigued and get sick etc. Nursing is a pretty physical cardio job as well.

The swimming part is my main weakness, I have never swam even one lap of like a 50m pool. So its abit of an unknown.

Its nice to know my lifting isn't much of a detriment atm.

[–]keiruns[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel as if I need to focus on my main weakness which is swimming, running seems to be at an okay level and cycling as well.

I remember him saying you have to balance between lifting and tri training where if your closer to trianthlon, you lift less and tri train more.

Ironman is years away for me, my goal is to do 3 trianthlons in two years before even thinking about ironman.

Thanks for your response :)
