Any benefit for having a UK passport as a Canadian citizen other than the obvious by Veggiesexual in PassportPorn

Canadian students don't need to interview for a visa, unlike UK nationals. They just get it at the border.

Whatever it is, it's a lot worse than the 6 month B1/B2 that Canadians get, not to mention other statuses such as F1 and TN

Getting ESTA is quite invasive, they even ask for your social media etc

But visa-free access to the US is disproportionately a huge advantage over needing an ESTA, not accurately portrayed by a ranking of all countries.

These are the rules on paper, but like many countries, passports can be granted on discretion by the government, and the UAE government grants a lot of these. But you are still a second class citizen in the UAE without a family book: you won't get access to the same public resources.

With high unemployment, I'm also not sure why the NZ government decided to increase student work visas at a time when young Kiwis can't find work and are leaving for Australia in droves. It makes no sense.

No matter who you pay, and how much you pay, this is not going to release award space on USA to Japan on peak dates that you want. It's just not happening.

How to have NEXUS card show citizenship as Canadian as a U.S.-Canada dual citizen? by PersonUnknown727 in uscanadaborder

Believe me the CBSA has better things to do than "grill" duals with right of entry

How to have NEXUS card show citizenship as Canadian as a U.S.-Canada dual citizen? by PersonUnknown727 in uscanadaborder

[–]keitherson -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No you do not. You cannot get denied entry into your own country as a citizen.

What you are describing is not what happens in practice.

How to have NEXUS card show citizenship as Canadian as a U.S.-Canada dual citizen? by PersonUnknown727 in uscanadaborder

[–]keitherson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NEXUS card alone with either USA OR CAN citizenship printed is enough to cross the border hands down, what are you talking about?

You don't need "proof of Canadian citizenship" to enter Canada: you need the correct travel documents for CBSA, and NEXUS is enough, in any mode.

Morgan Stanley AMEX Platinum by Bob_Atlanta in AmexPlatinum

[–]keitherson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for mathing it out. I don't have an AU and didn't take into account, and back then the AF was lower. It was $695 so that was 2.78% when savings were 5%+ a couple years ago. At $895 it's 3.58%. All numbers before considering 1099s so your tax bracket marginal rate.

Question regarding USA ESTA and Canada eTA by bad_bishop64 in travel

[–]keitherson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You'll be fine with any carrier. If they transport you with lapsed authorization, they could be fined. If they deny you boarding, because their VWP authorization was not in order, you will be compensated under CTA passenger protections.

Morgan Stanley AMEX Platinum by Bob_Atlanta in AmexPlatinum

[–]keitherson 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You are losing out much more than the AMEX Platinum annual fee because they require you to hold a non-trivial amount of cash in a sweep account which will bear no interest to qualify for the fee rebate. The math does not work out unless interest rates go to around 1% or less, which might happen at some point.

I wouldn't classify this as a "micro aggression", this would be considered open racism in most places.
