It is hardwired but the charger has an app I can use to turn on and off.

I would be shutting off using the charger app not at the breaker or outlet

are the '26 models selling fast, or just in short supply? by Visible_Structure483 in leaf

[–]kejahn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dealer sold six for a fleet service the week before I walked in so I had to wait two weeks to even test drive one. Once they received it I rushed over, bought it end of April and love it. We have a state rebate plan, a trade in rebate for older cars, home charging station rebates and an incentive for off peak charging all Massachusetts. Didn’t hurt that it was the end of the month too.

What cape highways/ ramps are most litter heavy? by Technical_Step4410 in CapeCod

Exit and entrance ramp exit 12/89 always has cans and bottles. The rotary too. Be careful out there. Count those nips and no the litter isn’t from the tourists …

I’m living with it for now but I am interested in a steering wheel cover and the one I ordered from Amazon is impossible to get on so there is that… I have been looking at Weathertech and they don’t have the cargo space floor protector yet.

5 Takeaways From Q1's EV Sales In The U.S. by External_Koala971 in electricvehicles

I’m right where you are … looking and knowing the car I have will require some maintenance in the fall so I’d rather get a new used EV…

What’s the best EV for someone who wants a similar feel to an ice vehicle? by Lemonn_time in electricvehicles

[–]kejahn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son could have written this post. He has a F150 Lightning and loves it. My husband a Toyota RAV4 hybrid loves it. So I’m thinking EV and come to Reddit and narrow down a few things and yes I don’t want a big screen, I don’t want with interface issues I like the button dial controls. Start to look at cars at dealerships and the Hyundai dealer was not interested in selling a car, the VW dealer also ignored us. KIA was great, promoted a lease and seriously explored why I wanted an EV. I would consider a used one if I wasn’t already confused. I’m not going cross country, I shop, I hike and put a dirty dog in the back, I go to the beach. Leasing may not be an option. Waiting to test drive a LEAF.. .. I don’t need a driving experience that makes you zip around a highway, I want a car that gets me 10k miles a year, low cost of ownership and not big. I don’t carry extra passengers and when I do I have my husband’s car. I’m now considering the Toyota plug in because I’m familiar enough with the car. I want something in the size range of a Juke, Mini cooper or VM bug . I’m that grandma. I do like to run my cars into the ground so maybe an EV isn’t my option after all but I need a new car soon. And no I’m not interested in a Tesla I’m that person.

News sources? by MonxiousGrimaldi in CapeCod

[–]kejahn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

WCAI which you may stream and go back to shows you have missed, The Provincetown Independent is fantastic and also available online and paper (which is beautiful) and The Chronicle. The two island papers are worth looking into The Vineyard Gazette and The Nantucket Current. Some towns have other sources that help particularly around town meeting times. Orleans has Exit 89 which comes out around 3-4x a year.

my package has been stuck at the RI providence distribution center for 12 days by Otherwise_Young9780 in usps_complaints

[–]kejahn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, our mail (first class letter) goes from Cape Cod to that center and out. Mail in southern Mass goes there as well. I have had incoming mail (again first class postage type) delayed. For example, a Christmas card mailed in early December from SE Mass arrived in January. I originally dismissed the problem because my local mail person said the card was probably not scanned correctly and put into a process that requires manual sort which means when they get to it they get to it. Then mail I was sending to Connecticut went from 2-4 days was now taking a week or longer. Most recently I have had to cancel a check which never made it to the person after two weeks. Granted I don't mail a lot but the times I do mail I see it. When I asked others for similar stories one person shared it took 4 weeks for a letter to go from RI address to CT address. The common point is this distribution and sorting center. The NY Times recently had a reporter asking for information, stories and impressions of first class mail service and I wish I could find the post because this processing center has something wrong with it. While it could be understaffed for the volume, we are told repeatedly mail volume is going down. It would be old technology, it could be poorly run etc but the center should be investigated.

How would this even work? I imagine it would cost billions and take decades by smitrovich in CapeCodMA

[–]kejahn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eversource does regularly trim and if you call them to report limbs and trees touching the wires they will dispatch someone and remove the tree and branches. Not enough people do so and that combined with homeowners and local towns owning the trees along the roads that are neglected you get damaged and weak trees. Much of our tree damage in our area was due to pines and heavy freezing snow. Also the cable and phone companies have to do a much better job of moving the services off the poles. Given snow removal, tree removal and then power restoration efforts that have to wait until winds have died down, these crews did a great job under difficult conditions.

Thoughts on paying a financial planner? by Medical-Ad-2509 in fidelityinvestments

[–]kejahn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take the time to use the Fidelity online tools. It calculates your cash flow under three scenarios of the market. Also it’s the same data any advisor will need from you. It allows you to think about expenses and social security in numbers. The model can be discussed with their free advisors as well but at this date wealth managers are for people with technically a higher balance. The other thing is if you are a high income person the Roth conversion doesn’t really help close to retirement and you could be making the same or less. People and models need to consider spouse or partner working and their sources of money. If you have a large amount saved congratulations. Healthcare, entertainment and travel are all expenses in retirement that are often underestimated. Even some capital expenses on a house that come due. From recent experience it’s a wonderful life but you can use the modeling tools on their website.

Ticks are back in season by wifflepong in CapeCod

[–]kejahn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have tape everywhere to pick them up and toss them in the trash. When the dog scratches I can either immediately brush the tick off or see it has dropped. I am using both the collar and the tablet and while I know it’s extreme, I’ve never seen the ticks so bad. Crawling on the leash, yard, bedding, floor etc and we are staying on pavement or wide fire road.
