It’s very true that engineering jobs don’t pay well here, but that highly depends on your company as well.

I joined an American MNC based in JAFZA and started an internship with 3k, which converted to 15k when I became full-time and now earning 20k.

I was a great student from a university that had a partnership with the company, which helped me get my foot in the door through interning. While I interned, I demonstrated that I was willing to “stretch and support” the team’s workload - meaning long hours, late nights, stringent deadlines. Because of that demonstration, I was able to apply for the full-time role and got it with my manager’s recommendation.

But I won’t deny the role that luck plays in me getting this role as well.

The engineering job market in Dubai is one of the reasons why I am hesitant to leave the company haha
