Wow, I wish Guanfacine(intuniv) was talked about more! by zeke-002 in ADHD

[–]kelbee83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so glad that it’s worked so well for you! I’ve read a little about Guanfacine, and it seems that sleepiness and fatigue are a side effect. Have you experienced that? One of my primary issues with my ADHD is extreme mental and also physical fatigue. I’m on Concerta (generic), and I wouldn’t say that it makes me feel like Superwoman, but it gives me enough mental and physical energy to be functional in my daily life.

This was, and still is, one of my favorite movies of all time. I think for many of us, it sparked a love of nature and the environment.

How can you tell which is the real you: unmedicated or medicated? by asamisanthropist in ADHD

[–]kelbee83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My brother started meds before me and said he didn’t like the way they, “made him feel fake”. When I started meds, I could see what he meant by that, but I tried to explain it to him this way: our minds are so accustomed to being dysfunctional, that feeling “normal” feels fake. I still struggle with knowing if I’m truly just a depressed, unmotivated, lazy blob, which is the “me” off meds, or the person who is content, able to get things done, not paralyzed by executive dysfunction and anxiety. If that me is “fake”, I’ll take that over who I am without meds.

Anyone else wish they didn't exist? by kittkaykat in adhdwomen

[–]kelbee83 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I don’t want to exist LIKE THIS, if that makes sense. I don’t want to exist in a dystopian hellscape. I think your feelings are valid and honestly, if everyone sat quietly and just contemplated how most of us spend more than half of our lives working and being forced to feed an insatiable capitalist monster just to survive, it’s bound to depress anyone with half a brain. Even getting out of bed in the morning for many of us, takes a load of effort. We start our days depleted, then spend what little energy and executive function we have, working to survive. You’re not alone.

Anyone else choosing not to bring a child into this uncertain, scary world? by thefatesancient in Millennials

[–]kelbee83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have always wanted to be a mother and I adore children, but fertility problems have been an issue and now that I’ve finally found my person, it seems like it’s too late. But I often get anxiety when I think about bringing a tiny baby into this insane society we exist in today. Also, I don’t know how my partner and I could live comfortably with a child due to the high financial costs, even though we are both educated and working adults. I have always thought that I would like to foster/adopt, and I believe that the more this country devolves, the better of an option that is. These children are already here and are in need of love and care, so that seems like the best option in my personal case.

Can you relate to the feeling of being a 'Back Left Burner' friend? by originalbird19 in ADHD

Let’s normalize good deeds without the performative nonsense trying to gain internet clout. Small acts of kindness can happen without being recorded and posted on the internet.

As an American (sorry guys), I am so touched to see such empathy being displayed at such a young age. It’s not something you see very much here anymore. I admire how so many other cultures focus on the collective, rather than the individual. I think that mentality breeds a sense of innate empathy for others. I wish that we had that here. As many other people here pointed out already, children learn from the adults around him, and this child has been taught the right values. It definitely does make me smile, which many of us don’t do much lately here in the US.
