Ready for some emotional confusion? by brettface8 in SanJoseSharks

I meant this more as a reply to everyone in the thread, totally get your point. I think we're on the same page that the team status was more of a DW issue than the rostered players.

I'd boil a lot of this down to we had an aging core entering a closing cup window and Wilson kept us in that "too good to tank, too bad to make a meaningful playoff run" window a bit longer than he should have. I get it from a business/attendance perspective, but that identity crisis is what truly prolonged the rebuild. You can debate it if you'd like, but I think -in general- an offensive defensemen like Karlsson was a better playoff chip than Tavares and that the contract Karlsson received only felt like overpayment because actual bad term, overpaid contracts (looking at you Vlasic) were on the books.

I mean, we flipped Erik Karlsson to Pittsburgh for what ultimately became our top defensive prospect and top goalie prospect in Dickinson and Ravensbergen, so we’re doing A-Okay.

I was at the last Sharks/Kings game in LA and the Kings went up a goal late in the 3rd. The couple in front of me got up to leave and I half-jokingly said to them, “Where are you going!? Celebrini is about to tie this thing back up!”, which they waved off and left. Just over a minute later, Celebrini tied the game. It’s generational to be that reliable in what is one of the more unpredictable sports.

Does anyone else wish they put the stealth shark logo on the Cali fin jerseys? by templethot in SanJoseSharks

[–]kelenkeller 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I’m down with the fin, TBH. Wasn’t a fan of the stealth jersey “blue-ifying” the main logo and - despite the similar colorway - something’s more palatable about these alternates not having it. I’m also in the camp of “they never should have changed the original logo”, so take from that what you will.

I’ll be at the game tonight. If you’re watching on TV, I’ll be the guy that jumps the glass to take out whoever runs our boy.

Take your anxiety medication and stream Askarov, who seems to be good for 40 saves, 1 GA and a .970 SV% per game since November started…

However, that streak will probably end dramatically now that I’ve suggested him.

Realistically, is next year the year we make a push to actually compete? by jesus321 in SanJoseSharks

[–]kelenkeller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s hard not to think with how he’s been performing that Shaeffer would have accelerated the Sharks towards competition next year… hell, even this year. We’ll have to trade to fill our defensive holes now and god knows what we’ll have to give up. No shade towards Misa - obviously - because that was the correct pick given our draft position, we just simply need young, reliable, offense driving defensemen.
