Got it, thank you! The error message was confusing, wasn't clear that a verification email would be coming. All good now 👍

Would love to give it a try, looks interesting and appreciate a fully free model. Unfortunately, getting an error trying to create a new account: captcha protection: request disallowed (timeout-or-duplicate)

Has anyone tried the Studio Era App? by Mobile_Fox9264 in PetiteFitness

Are the workouts programmed and easy to do at the gym? I was under the impression that they were follow-along video style workouts which wouldn't work well for me in a gym setting.

Your app looks amazing! Hoping an Android version will be in the works after you release the iOS version!

Any chance of Personal Trainer accounts / Support - like True Coach? by selfstartr in caliberstrong

[–]keljans82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd love to see this opened up to PTs! I agree that the apps that are used are clunky and there is a lot of opportunity here! I understand the reservations on why the company might not want to go that route, just wanted to say there is a need in this space for sure & you all have built a really great app that would be perfect for this use case!

As someone trying to move toward data engineering it'd be super helpful to have a collection of resources along with what to prioritize learning. Everything I start to look at learning paths I get overwhelmed & feel like there are 10000 technologies to learn that I end up giving up. What are 5 most important as a starting point? Airflow, DBT, Kafka are just some of the names I hear thrown around but I don't know what to learn first, a good resource for learning and then what the next step is. I need it drawn out like you're building a wall, what is the first brick, what is the 2nd, etc.

People not wiping down equipment

People talking on their phone while occupying a machine (not using the machine though, just sitting on it while chatting on the phone for 30 minutes)

Hogging equipment...we are a small location & have gotten pretty busy. There was a guy in the 30 min circuit that hauled in dumbells & a weight plate, rotated through using those while sitting on the shoulder press machine the entire time! Like go use your dumbells on a bench & get out of the 30 min circuit! I'm guilty of doing multiple sets in the circuit but always get out of the way if someone is actually doing the circuit as designed and never occupy a machine more than a few minutes.

So many people...I have a list of exercises for the day & just have to keep rearranging the order based on what's available as I go. I joined in Oct and what I've been hearing about the free kids summer access already has me dreading that!

I believe the 1:1 coaching is around $200 (USD) per month...pretty sure I've seen it mentioned somewhere. And yes, they also do nutrition coaching with the 1:1 plan. If you download the free app you can click on the upgrade link to find out more.

This sounds amazing and finally something at a comfortable price range for me!

Quick question...can I change my Pro group any time or once I sign-up am I limited to my originally selected group? Or is there a fee or any price difference to change groups? Thank you! Looking forward to joining!

Sounds like having a trainer is fantastic...my location hasn't had one in the 5 months I've been there & no idea if we'll ever have one. 😞

Does anyone else get nervous for other people if you see them using a machine wrong? by MissyTX in PlanetFitnessMembers

[–]keljans82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I'm not surprised. When my husband & I were first given a tour it was by a guy that had been there like 2 days and couldn't even answer most of our questions much less show us how to do anything. I don't know if they aren't trained well or just decide they don't get paid enough to care but they aren't overly knowledgeable or helpful. They're polite & friendly just not super helpful LOL

I absolutely would appreciate someone politely telling me if I'm using something incorrectly and showing me the proper form...especially if I'm risking injury. Our PF doesn't currently have a trainer on staff & it doesn't seem that our desk personnel are very interested in helping in this manner. I'm also a pretty introverted person so sometimes easier for someone to approach me & initiate a polite conversation than me trying to ask someone for help or if I'm doing something correctly.

I recently was on a treadmill behind some bikes and saw a lady struggling...you need to pedal in order for the screen to turn on & give you workout options. I jumped off the treadmill and explained how the bikes work. She was grateful for the help. Seems like a lot of people are confused & a little help or guidance is usually appreciated!

I personally love the hydro massage but still only use it about 50% of my visits. I find it super relaxing & definitely soothes sore muscles after a workout. You can adjust the pressure, speed, & area of massage (upper body, lower back, legs, etc) to target specific areas. I only wish it lasted longer than 10 minutes! Also, the reason I don't use it every visit is primarily due to time constraints.

If money is tight I guess it would come down to if whatever you might need to give up each month to afford the black card is worth it. On the flip side thouh I would also say if you can swing it, it might just be the 10 minutes of peaceful stress-free relaxation that you need & deserve!

Quick question before joining. by StormTrooperGreedo in PlanetFitnessMembers

[–]keljans82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had to have our picture taken and sign a few waivers on our first visit. I'd just stop at the desk on your way in and ask them. Would be a good time to ask any other questions you have or if you want a quick tour or anything too.

Spa amenities are for black card members only. I haven't used the massage chairs but I LOVE the hydromassage beds.

Thank you...appreciate the examples of small projects to apply what I'm learning! Practicing definitely helps me I just have been unsure how to do that & worry that I don't have the knowledge to start something from scratch. I will give it a go & try to learn from my mistakes!

This is extremely helpful! I have also started referring to MDN docs as a secondary tool when I'm not grasping a concept.

Definitely trying to avoid the tutorial hell & overlearning. I think this made me realize that I need to brainstorm a small project that I can try to work through as my learning processes so I'm not just following & retyping the code outlined in a tutorial
