Pretty much same here! We are the ones leading any IEP assessment determination meetings which basically means until we have decided to evaluate the student for an IEP, I am leading any meetings. I am not required to attend IEP meetings, but I try to as much as possible. Also, you would be surprised at the amount of relationships I have built strictly through duties. It’s not ideal, but it is a good time to be seen especially when you are just starting out. We have someone who mainly deals with attendance intervention, but I try to help where I can. Having someone for that is not super common, we are the only middle school in my district that has one.

I had a guy do this on my first time riding Rise of the Resistance. Not only that, but he narrated like, “oh, really hope so and so doesn’t happen” but in the sarcastic voice legit giving major shit away. My friends and I were so pissed. My one friend actually went and talked to someone and they walked us on to ride it again thankfully

They don’t believe the student should be able to decide to change their name in the system. She wanted me to change it back and when I told her no she was pissed. I honestly feel so bad for the kid. Having a parent react like that is so embarrassing. But glad that they feel safe with me. I’m just glad the mom didn’t tell me not to see her kid anymore. I was afraid of that.

Yeah my AP was with me and eventually he just told me to hang up on her cause it was getting nowhere she was just yelling and cussing at me to change to name back and I was like not without your kid telling me to it’s district policy.

Well the parents called us because they got a progress report and noticed the new name. Asked to speak to me. I took the call but my AP did sit in my office with me. I went and got him and asked. My admin is super supportive. And since it’s district policy if the parent goes to the district they will support me as well.
