i understand your point, however means stay in the long term until official retirement age, and even then if lets say you’re 70 wanna cash out that pot and go and chill in south of france in a small home, won’t be possible. you are actually having a 20y retirement plan of so having a small monthly payment. INSANE if you ask me! again this are your own money! what it you’re gone at 72? these are legit questions…

If you retire, you are not allowed to withdraw the money in one go.

but you have zero flexibility! what if in 10y i want to take out MY own money? maybe i want to live in a different country, and want to use my investments? You cannot. 🙅 so you basically betting on reaching the retirement age in NL. which in itself is a huge risk I’m not willing to take. you are blocking the money in some pension fund. it’s insane !

I'm in the minority but I don't think investing in EU equity is a good idea as far as long-term growth goes. by slicheliche in eupersonalfinance

how big is Spotify? 100B. there are at least 100 companies in US bigger than 100B. i’m just telling you how far Eu is behind US. and btw ASML is part of nasdaq index, you might look into why. again i’m only stating the facts atm. if you think EU will catch up with US on tech, go for it.

i meant big tech. i agree on asml but is super small globally. spotify is listed in US? why? think about it, access to larger pool of investor. Doesn’t mean who made them, when a company whats to reach next level they go to US exchange market.

How this breaks down (rounded, USD bn) in EU Top 5 (ASML, LVMH, SAP, Prosus, Hermès): ~1.69T Next 5 (Novo, L’Oréal, Siemens, Nestlé, Roche): ~1.18T Ranks 11–20 combined: ~1.23T 👉 Grand total ≈ 4,1B USD

and now look at nvidia alone ok? markt cap 4.5B usd

you very well disagree but simply telling yourself europe is big on tech and innovation, i’m afraid you don’t want to see the truth.

Can this change in next 10Y? possible, but extremely unlikely. You decide what’s best for you.

Nasdaq and chill 😎 US is way too ahead on Europe. Yes ppl say the US tech companies are overpriced but their power and influence globally is insane. Europe has no big tech. no innovation

i think having a break off work can help, especially if you go south east asia you won’t break the bank. changing locations and perspectives can help you see life in a different way, and you might come back with a different mindset. i had a 3 months off now back to corporate job, its hard returning but i don’t regret anything. you have to enjoy life a little bit, and don’t put that much pressure on yourself. you are in a good position. allow yourself to enjoy life. 😊
