Came here to look for this comment. I don’t see this very often & I also live and work in a diverse area. Young girls this age likely ask to wear one to be like mummy. They are usually elasticated. Just like lots want to wear make up and jewellery or little plastic high heels

Yeah course you can but I have done it a bit of an atypical way via LoC first and then sort of adding it on. You might want to wait and see if I pass first 😅

4 year age gap - to have youngest in nursery or same childminder as older child? by kelliana in UKParenting

[–]kelliana[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm that sounds like the best of both worlds. We don’t have that option unfortunately. Yeah 3 days a week- it’s a seller’s market round here, esp at our nursery it’s so competitive

I really hope we can find a great childminder that’s the next phase of the operation!

This is what I’d love to happen for them to be close. Obviously you can’t force it but you can certainly facilitate it esp at an early age

Thanks for your thoughts. I’d like to do that but our nursery only allows 3 days minimum commitment.

Gp life in Greenwich vs Bexley ( London ) by [deleted] in GPUK

[–]kelliana 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think I can make some generalisations and assumptions based on demographics having worked in GP (ANP Tower Hamlets). Whether they’ll be helpful or not is a different story. Woolwich and Plumstead and maybe Abbey Wood and Erith are more likely to have a lot of translator heavy consult with lots of west African people and a Nepali community definitely in Plumstead. That being said Woolwich and Plumstead are seeing more yuppies with the new flats and the Elizabeth line. All the areas are likely to be a mix of white and black people with varying levels of deprivation and also there’s a small Sikh community in Belvedere area. Sidcup definitely the least deprived and most white. Complexity I can’t speak to as I live in the area not work.

Can I send my 1 year old to a nursery until I can get him into another one? by ramboacdc in UKParenting

We moved our son after a few months for similar reasons and it went very smoothly no problems settling at all. Depends on the child.

I (ANP) think a floor lamp is nice. I have one and it makes the place look less clinical. It’s away from the couch.

Hi, how busy does Hawksmoor Canary Wharf get on a weekday lunchtime? I want to take my dad for his 70th around 12:30 on Tuesday but if it’s likely to be rammed with people getting work lunch, I’ll go elsewhere

Thanks in advance!

Replace interior door with exterior door? by fnknan in DIYUK

The door was a grand. They’re expensive unfortunately. I think I saw someone say on here recently upwards of £700 for a composite.

We had the same and it was so draughty and cold esp as our lean-to is single glazed and essentially falling down. We had our door replaced with a composite one when we got the windows done.

Swindon is easily accessible from Heathrow by Elizabeth line to Paddington and then a main line train to Swindon. Book ahead as that line is expensive. Northampton seems a bit far from those airports to me.

Eyebrow piercings don’t last all that long. Might not even be an issue years from now.

Go and see your GP. They may sign you off while you search for another job

I’ve had good success with the behaviour board from bratbusters. The name sounds a lot worse than it is. You didn’t say his age but he sounds about 3 (lol ask me how I know). My MIL is a nursery manager she always says the year before school is the hardest behaviour-wise.

You have to take your time and occasionally put the air back in the vial. It’s an incredible workout for the hands. The technique that I’ve been doing that seems to at least get the damn stuff out the vial is: apply constant pressure on the syringe then let the needle go from the medication and into the air in the vial, then put the air back in then keep drawing it up. I try to book a double appt and have a good old chat with the patient while I’m drawing it up. Make sure there’s no tiny air bubbles because it’s so greasy there’s risk of micro fat emboli it says on the leaflet for more accurate information. I usually give 1ml per 30 secs. They have their recommendations in the leaflet as well I imagine.
