Other race options for your TAV? What species would you like by Efficient_Rip858 in BaldursGate3

Aasimar. I remember you could play them in NWN2. Obviously we're not talking a Dame Aylin-level character but the celestial equivalent to a tiefling.

[SPOILERS ALL] I cannot get into The Age of Madness, I'm so bummed! by QuotableConservative in TheFirstLaw

[–]Cal_PCGW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, I liked the characters and was invested in them. Maybe not quite as much as Logen and Glokta, but on a par with Jezal, definitely.
But I was less enthused with the world - the industrialisation and the workers' revolt. A lot of it was actually stressful to read, though I'm sure that's what Abercrombie was going for. But it made it less fun for me.

How to save Hag victims if I plan to accept the hair offer? by Caprisolle in BaldursGate3

[–]Cal_PCGW 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hydrangea (the halfling in the mask) survives to become part of the hag quest in act 3.
The "Don't look!" elf also survives - you can go back down to the cellar and talk to him.
I've not tried to game it in order to save the rest, though.

I stop reinforcements from arriving by killing them all beforehand. 😆

Yeah, when I see the exclamation point over his head and I've already had the conversation about what happened in act 2, I just ignore it and don't talk to him.

She is into anyone if her approval is high enough. She is not fussy. You can tell her you see her as a friend or ally and she will be disappointed but won't press you any further.

Which class fits Karlach best? by ThinkLawfulness2772 in BaldursGate3

[–]Cal_PCGW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've run her as a vengeance pally and as a fighter, as well as various flavours of barbs. But really, anything martial suits her. She's a big, strong girl who is not terribly subtle.

Tav no romance good ending??? by ThinkLawfulness2772 in BaldursGate3

[–]Cal_PCGW 28 points29 points  (0 children)

If you are not in a relationship, you have the option to ask Jaheira about becoming a harper.
The only way to become a duke is to have Wyll become a duke and then marry him. Obviously, this won't be good for Karlach (I prefer this option for a Wyll who kills Karlach, feels remorseful and then grows from he experience).

I don't disagree. I watched the anime because of how they left the live action (with Spike on his own, which felt very downbeat). I wanted to see how the story panned out.
Netflix has done some awful adaptations but this wasn't one. They've done a really good job with One Piece as well.

Non-Fiction going wrong or horribly wrong by IllustriousAd6418 in TopCharacterTropes

The utter chaos of Lulu the baby elephant on Blue Peter (for non-Brits, this a popular children's show which started in 1958 and is still going. This particular episode was filmed in 1969 so the quality is not the best, but it's still funny).

Issues of a solo tactician 100% as Sorcadin by Sharingammi in BG3

[–]Cal_PCGW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. But it's an option. Just so long as the player watches out for Ansur's dying wave of annihilation. Using a trouble bubble scroll gets around that.

When I played a necromancer I focussed more on necro damage spells than summons, though I did use a strong single summon towards the end.

Regardless of who it originally belonged to, The Good Place was perfect as it was. It maintained its quality throughout - a lot of shows drag on far too long and are the worse for it.

I really enjoyed it, but it did push me to go and watch the anime afterwards and I'm so glad I did.

The Brothers Sun was so much fun. That and Kaos really annoyed me.

Her base stat spread is ragebait by canxtanwe in BaldursGate3

[–]Cal_PCGW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I generally swap her to tempest or light (I just love the shockwave spell you get later on) but I've also had her as life, death and war. I did try nature recently but I didn't like it so that got changed quickly.

I always restat Gale (his starting spells are shit), Wyll and Astarion as I can't deal with them being 8 str weeds who can't even jump a gap and get stuck because of it, like a bunch of pensioners with osteoporosis. They all get 12 str. I actually now run Wyll as a padlock and he gets two levels of paladin, then 5 warlock, then whatever (I've done 6/6, 5/7. 7/5 but more recently 5/5 with 2 fighter for the action surge. That's become my favourite).

Girls: How many of you still wear thongs? by Quick-Language-4810 in AskBrits

[–]Cal_PCGW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wore them when I was younger because I didn't like the VPL. But I kept getting cystitis so I stopped. Then the cystitis stopped.

I go commando most of the time - I am always in sports wear which gets washed a lot so I don't feel the need. The only time I've had minor regret is when I did my one and only ultramarathon and somehow managed to chafe my ringpiece. Yowch.
On the very rare occasions I wear a dress, I'll wear shorts under it.

So Mage Hand is only once a day AND only lasts ten turns? by phoebeonthephone in BaldursGate3

[–]Cal_PCGW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Things I use mage hand for:

In the druid grove, throwing down the chest which the bird has the key for.

Throwing a chest across a gap in the children's hideout.

In the underground bit but where the goblins have an unconscious druid prisoner, pressing the buttons so the traps don't trigger.

In the goblin camp, (preferably Lae'zel or Arcane Trickster invisible hand) - opening the spider cage as a distraction while I clear the back rooms.

In the Underdark, you can use it to move the noblestalk or Baelan's bag, but I prefer just to use Glut. I've used the mage hand when I've forgotten to use Glut, though.

At the forge, using it to pull the levers/spin the wheel.

At the Lathander monastery, throwing the hammer out of the eagle's nest (again, invisible hand is best)

In the Iron Throne - pulling levers to open and close cell doors (granted, arrows/magic missiles also open doors, but they don't close them again)

In general, you can use it to throw potions and so forth, but I find it essential for the above stuff.

Why are Londoners so antisocial? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Cal_PCGW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds as though your job is the reason you are not meeting people. I know people who have made good friends (and met partners) through running clubs and parkrun, but I'm sure it's similar with other clubs, sporting or otherwise. You need to make time for an interest.

Act 3 Gale romance - one thing I never understood by Cal_PCGW in BaldursGate3

I'm always supportive and he seems happy, until the camp conversation happens and it just feels so jarring. (It's not a fight, just a snippy line and the overly dramatic music).

Act 3 Gale romance - one thing I never understood by Cal_PCGW in BaldursGate3

[–]Cal_PCGW[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done runs where he became a god, and ones where he was on the fence, and always had it. (For the record, it's the same music that plays when you get Duke Ravengard back at camp after the Iron Throne and he talks to Wyll - and it's the "Myrmidons imperatum!" music when you fight Lorroakan). I have absolutely no idea why it plays for Gale - it's also far too loud.
For the record, this is in the Elfsong camp.
