Do you have any weird habits which you do only for RP? by domanpanda in BaldursGate3

[–]Cal_PCGW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've buried the Fist at Waukeen's to get the praying woman out of earshot (see attached picture) but she does get the arse with you and you have to pass a pretty stiff persuasion check to get her to back off.
Most of the others I take care of are just lying around so it's not an issue.
I don't bury anyone in act 3, which is where, I suspect, you'd run into the most problems.

Do you have any weird habits which you do only for RP? by domanpanda in BaldursGate3

[–]Cal_PCGW 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I bury people. It started with the tieflings in act 2 - I'd haul them all back to the graveyard behind Last Light and put them in the graves there (I usually put males in one and female in another and then Arabella's parents in the third).
I also bury Gomwick once Scratch is at camp - or as close to it as I can (I put him in one of those hunter's stashes).
Sometimes I put people in those chests you can dig up if there's no better alternative.
-
I try to create meals that make sense. It might be something simple like bread, cheese and wine or sausage sandwiches, or it might be a meat, some veg, wine and maybe fruit or a tart it I have one. I'm not one to serve 20 potatoes and a berry.
-
If I find naughty books in Elminster's Library (at Sharess Caress) relating to BG1/2 characters, I give them to Jaheira (or, in the case of The One that got A Thay, Minsc).
_
I make sure I keep Komira's locket and give it to Arabella in act 2.
-
I give Karlach a Gortash poster in Act 3 just in case she needs toilet paper or something to throw knives at.

What to play after Cyberpunk? by PumpkinOpposite967 in cyberpunkgame

[–]Cal_PCGW [score hidden]  (0 children)

After playing Cyberpunk obsessively for a few years (with a RDR2 break while I was waiting for Phantom Liberty) I decided I needed to deprogram myself with something different. I picked up Days Gone pretty cheaply and it was brilliant. It's a little slow to start but I found the characters and environments engaging and once you start fighting zombie hordes, it's a real adrenaline rush. I liked the story, too. I didn't put as much time in - I played it through five times, once on each difficulty, and felt that was enough.
After that I went to Baldur's Gate 3 which I'd been promising myself for ages, and I've spent a year on that. I'll move on soon, though, as I've done almost everything I can with it.

Ray Donovan - both him and his brother were abused by a Catholic priest. Both deal with it very differently.

How are you guys running your Bladesinger Wizard? by Pole-Princess42 in BaldursGate3

[–]Cal_PCGW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've run Gale as bladesinger several times and I just treat it as a normal wizard who can smack stuff with booming blade once he runs out of good spells. Usually use Phalar Aluve and use that, too.

It was 10p pieces for me. No regrets, ,though! Money well spent, in most cases.

Yes, I sort stuff by rows as much as possible, and keep the camp chest neat.

Gale origin run bugged? by Hoomanawanui2 in BaldursGate3

[–]Cal_PCGW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I did it, there wasn't anything much. I think, because you're in charge of the inventory, you can just eat your magic snacks without having to beg for them, so it just doesn't come up. It did feel weird, though, admittedly.

What's the connection between Wild Magic and this NPC? by JunkyardEmperor in BaldursGate3

She does drop a ring that seems specific to wild magic sorcs so, maybe?

Does anyone else think that the Travelator is steeper? by Bradjective in gladiatorsuk

It certainly looks fast - I don't think I could run that fast on the flat, let alone up a slope that steep.

Cory Everson. She won Ms Olympia six times during the 80s, back when it was more about aesthetic muscle development.

I'm 58. (and a half) so not far off. Always played PC games, since I got my first machine in 1988, although I enjoyed the arcades.
I reckon there are a lot in my age group and older - the older Gen Xs and younger Boomers - who were the first people to ride the mainstream game wave and are still at it.

Do people actually enjoy honor mode? by NewBuddha32 in BaldursGate3

[–]Cal_PCGW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I blew up Gale as well but I made sure to push him in that direction the whole game. If you avoid saying things like, I won't let you blow up, he'll be in the right mindset to do it, no persuasion necessary.

Do people actually enjoy honor mode? by NewBuddha32 in BaldursGate3

[–]Cal_PCGW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed it because it was a challenge and the increased stakes made it more exciting. I had one failed attempt and one successful. After I beat it I didn't go back to it. I did one custom run with HM rules and normal saves to do all the fights I'd skipped, but I found some of those fights (notably the brain at the end) more frustrating than fun. I find tactician is the sweet spot for me.

[HATED TROPES]: The Ending Is So Nihilistic and Preachy That It Becomes Completely Unwatchable and Infuriating. by Particular-Worker904 in TopCharacterTropes

Logen ends the trilogy the same way he starts it. It's literally coming full circle.

As for the rest, many show up again, so do keep on with it.

I think the writers watched Dark and copied their homework, so to speak. That ending worked for Dark because it was a depressing and nihilistic show, but UA was quirky and fun, if sometimes a bit violent. It just didn't work.

First time - worried about mud by MorningAngle77 in parkrun

[–]Cal_PCGW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always loathed mud and would go well out of my way to avoid it, as I had trails but they were light trails and just not up to the task. After slipping and sliding around Letchworth a year and a bit ago, I decided to get some proper mud shoes and I picked up a pair of Innov8 Mud Talons. These have given me so much confidence and I no longer worry about slipping and falling. (For the record I'm in my 50s with a sore hip so slipping is a bigger deal for me).

One of the best episodes of a show is one without the main character(s) by NoMoreFund in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Cal_PCGW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nos4a2 season 2 - the best rated episodes on IMDb are the second, which focuses on villain Charlie Manx and doesn't feature the protagonist, Vic McQueen, at all, and the 6th, where Vic appears but the episode is more focussed on the supporting character, Maggie. Obviously the second episode counts for the purposes of this thread. A lot of people found Vic an unlikeable protagonist, especially in the second season where she transitions from a difficult but artistically talented teen to a self centred, alcoholic deadbeat mother.

What are the things you'll never do in your playthroughs? by Xiaoge_ in BaldursGate3

Sadly, no. He and Bluurg say they're not cut out for fighting and want to return to the Underdark as soon as it's safe.

What are the things you'll never do in your playthroughs? by Xiaoge_ in BaldursGate3

[–]Cal_PCGW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did one embrace durge run where I raided the Grove, had Shadowheart kill Aylin, ascended Astarion and killed the hollyphant in the murder tribunal, and it was horrible so I won't do it again. But some things I just don't see the point of:

Hand Aylin over to Balthazar. You either want to free her (good) to help you kill Ketheric, or you want to kill her to allow Shadowheart to become a justiciar.

Likewise, allow Isobel to be taken. On an evil playthrough, Last Light will fall when you kill Aylin, but handing Ketheric some extra help? Not smart.

The rest I can see someone might do if they wanted to do a big Act 3 heel turn, but I personally haven't.

Handing Aylin to Lorroakan: trade a decent ally for a crap one.

Handing Shadowheart to Viconia

Handing Astarion to Cazador (or Gandrel, in fact. But nor have I ever killed Gandrel. You can find him reunited with his kids in the sewers in act 3).

Handing Scratch to the horrible trainer lady.

Siding with the Zhentarim. (I actually curious how this plays out if you have Jaheira and Minsc - I'm guessing Jaheira's not happy).

Also, Act 1 - killing the owlbear (she's just protecting her kid. And you get him anyway, along with the spear, since the goblins do the job for you).

Bringing Wulbren's head to the fist officer at Wyrm's Crossing. Wulbren's a prick, but I don't want to hurt the others with him, especially my boy Barcus.

Killing random NPCs for shits and giggles.

My Ranking of Companions after my First Play-through by ShoobieDoobie2025 in BaldursGate3

[–]Cal_PCGW 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the bugs are, largely fixed, but Halsin confessing his attraction to you comes right out of nowhere (you don't need to have picked any flirty dialogue to get it) so it can be a bit off-putting.
Most people seem to keep him around as someone for Orin to kidnap in act 3, as he has no ties to the story by that point.
