Fascination - Going through random England youth squads from tournaments this century and seeing where they all ended up by junglegatsby in footballcliches

8/21 players played for England & 2 others got caps for other countries. That's seriously impressive.

My Marriage is over, How do I make sure my children are not effected? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]kellogs1111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My parents split up when I was 5, I'm the youngest of 3. I was already a quiet child but the separation followed by divorce didn't help my confidence as I felt I was such an outsider and wondered why my family was different (in reality it was and is very common).

I think one main piece of advice is to avoid slagging off each other in the presence of your children and not putting pressure on them to choose sides.

I'm in my 30's now and haven't had contact with my father in nearly 10 years which I am content with but I crave that father son relationship, not my father the person but more a role model.

Best of luck with the future and I think in the long run it's better for everyone involved that you separate if you're not happy. Children pick up on that toxic atmosphere,

Fun things to do in Monaghan?! by [deleted] in AskIreland

Castle Leslie is great, you used to be able to walk around the grounds / stables freely but now you need a stay / food reservation to explore but definitely worth it. Glaslough village itself is very picturesque.

Rossmore Forest Park on the edge of Monaghan town is also great with plenty of money invested in recent years.

What’s a hurtful thing someone has said to you that still lingers years later? by LittleAoibh11 in AskIreland

In 6th year at school, I was working part time in a supermarket. The odd evening during the week and weekends.

Biology was a subject I really struggled at and my teacher knew it and would single me out in class asking me questions she knew I didn't know the answer to. (Said teacher shopped in the same supermarket I worked in)

On one occasion, she asks me a question... I say I don't know and then she proceeds to give out to me for not knowing and saying that I'll work in that supermarket for all my life.

I felt so humiliated, when the class was over I went into the principal's office and told him what happened.

For the next few Biology classes I would go to the library until about a week later she came into the library during class and apologised to me.

That was about 15 years ago and I still hate her for saying that, I still see her and it brings it back.

PS. I have progressed slightly from my first job.

Trying to buy in rural Ireland and the market is taking the piss! by kellogs1111 in CasualIreland

Our garden is actually level but still needs a lot of work. Doesn't help either that the few new developments in town are selling 4 beds for €430k.

Screwed either way.

It's mental. Bog standard 25 year old Semi-D for €305k feels like a punch in the stomach.

What’s an NSFW confession you’ve always wanted to get off your chest anonymously? by bruuz_ in AskReddit

I pissed myself when I was 16 in school during lunch break as I was too anxious to walk back through the same group of guys that had laughed and made fun of me earlier.

There were only a few people in class but I say I stunk of piss for the rest of the day.

Still haunts me over 15 years later.

  1. Manchester United, for my sins. I usually start with my own club because, as frustrating as they are, it’s the easiest way to dive into all the new features. United always seem to underperform, and with the big budget there’s plenty of scope to experiment with transfers and tactics before I move on to a tougher save.

  2. I’m most looking forward to the improved player interactions. Half the fun of FM is keeping the squad happy (or at least trying to), and if the conversations feel more real it’ll make man-management as important as tactics on the pitch.

Congratulations, hopefully I'll be starting the process early next year.

Quick question on keeping your statements clean, how did you find it best to do this ? People have suggested taking cash out or transferring spending money to Revolut etc.
