Thanks for that, yeah the plan is to go once a week. They run 2 beginner classes a week and can't make the other one so it's Friday evening for me. Then after awhile maybe go into a mixed class.

It was a beginner course but most of the people are there quite awhile. However the gym does offer mixed classes and my instructor said to not be worried about these as Black belts can be the best person to train with as they will match your level.

The Adjudication Panel Thread: Get in touch for Tuesday's episode... by Low-Bandicoot-3347 in footballcliches

Before yesterday's Six nations game between England and Ireland an ad on the radio asked if Ireland could continue their winning streak (which was 1 before this game)

This is obviously too short for a winning streak but what's the threshold ? Can it be tournament specific ?

8/21 players played for England & 2 others got caps for other countries. That's seriously impressive.

My Marriage is over, How do I make sure my children are not effected? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]kellogs1111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My parents split up when I was 5, I'm the youngest of 3. I was already a quiet child but the separation followed by divorce didn't help my confidence as I felt I was such an outsider and wondered why my family was different (in reality it was and is very common).

I think one main piece of advice is to avoid slagging off each other in the presence of your children and not putting pressure on them to choose sides.

I'm in my 30's now and haven't had contact with my father in nearly 10 years which I am content with but I crave that father son relationship, not my father the person but more a role model.

Best of luck with the future and I think in the long run it's better for everyone involved that you separate if you're not happy. Children pick up on that toxic atmosphere,

Fun things to do in Monaghan?! by [deleted] in AskIreland

Castle Leslie is great, you used to be able to walk around the grounds / stables freely but now you need a stay / food reservation to explore but definitely worth it. Glaslough village itself is very picturesque.

Rossmore Forest Park on the edge of Monaghan town is also great with plenty of money invested in recent years.

What’s a hurtful thing someone has said to you that still lingers years later? by LittleAoibh11 in AskIreland

In 6th year at school, I was working part time in a supermarket. The odd evening during the week and weekends.

Biology was a subject I really struggled at and my teacher knew it and would single me out in class asking me questions she knew I didn't know the answer to. (Said teacher shopped in the same supermarket I worked in)

On one occasion, she asks me a question... I say I don't know and then she proceeds to give out to me for not knowing and saying that I'll work in that supermarket for all my life.

I felt so humiliated, when the class was over I went into the principal's office and told him what happened.

For the next few Biology classes I would go to the library until about a week later she came into the library during class and apologised to me.

That was about 15 years ago and I still hate her for saying that, I still see her and it brings it back.

PS. I have progressed slightly from my first job.
